Why's there a "can be evolved" disclaimer here? Was it telling me to burn an evolution coupon thingamajig on it? Seems pretty sketchy. Anyway, I think I've rested long enough.

I still have about 50% of my mana huh? Ever since I got that extra 100 mana boost from my wings, it's been hard to determine how much mana I had based on senses alone. Once it got to 260, I felt full of mana which was the usual indicator of being at capacity. Of course, my true capacity was 360, but my body for some reason could not sense where the extra 100 was stored. Perhaps in the wings? Now that I thought of it, how do they magically sprout from my back?
'I should get back to training.' I thought, while scanning through my stats. It seems that my Willpower went up by a single point, though I couldn't feel any difference.
[Ding!]
My ears perked up, hearing that annoying bell.
"Something's wrong, I can feel it." I preemptively said to myself. It's been quite a while since I heard a notification. What could it be?
[An unexpected event has occurred]
[System Notification: Unique Mission]
~~~~~~~~~~
Chain Mission-1(Common?): Chance Encounter
Description: You meet someone.
Reward: You live
Failure: You live?
~~~~~~~~~~
'I have questions.'
[No]
'...'
Of all the things... Well I haven't had a single mission ever since the start of the summer, so I guess this is normal? Seriously, I would have expected a mission when we were surviving in that forest—but no, there had to be a mission at the most unexpected time.
'Are you intentionally tickling my balls?'
[Do you have balls?]
'...' I froze up all the sudden, trying to recall what I just heard.
'When did you learn to retort?' I calmly asked.
"And it casually ignores me." I thought out loud. Did the system suddenly become a tsundere or something? Wait, no, that doesn't sound right.
Anyway, I looked at the floating screen before my eyes and took the time to analyze—the f*ck is—let me rephrase that.
'What the heck am I supposed to analyze here?'
'(Common) with a question mark? Why don't you just make it (???) difficulty?' I continued on, knowing the system could hear my complaints.
'The description is straight forward; but what's the use of something so vague?'
'And don't even get me started on the Reward and Failure. How is the "?" in the "Failure:" a viable way of communication?'
And it kept quiet.
I had the creeping suspicion that it was mocking me. Now that I recall, its voice sounded less mechanical than before—almost as if the system had gotten better at speaking in human tongue.
Putting that aside. this "Chain Mission," despite the Common rarity attached to it, does not look like good news. If my guess is correct from all the video games I've played, a chain mission should be a multi-stage thing: as you clear a mission, more will open up.
Well, since this smells like trouble, I should probably make sure I have enough healing and mana pots to survive this ordeal.
'Inventory.'
—elsewhere—
"Catch it!!!" Screamed one man to the others.
"Arrrrrrrgh!" Another man made a leap but fell head first into the pit of mud.
"Damn it! Don't let it get away!!!" Another tripped over air in the most casual manner; as if he were the victim at the beginning of any horror film.
Then, there was one particular brave man.
Lunging in, with both hands open, he clasped them down like a bear trap.
"I- I think I caught it!" He shouted to the others.
"Let me see!" Someone caught up immediately and looked at the thing in his grasps.
"You stupid f*ck! That's a stick you hear me? A f*cking twig!" The angry man shouted, slapping it out of the brave man's hand ferociously.
The rest of the platoon caught up and surrounded the two. "Woah, you caught it Hernes! As expected of the twenty-year veteren!!!" They applauded in unison.
"Caught what? You blind fools!!!" Screamed the angry man.
"All of you incompetent f*cking f*cks better start searching." The angry man continued his wrath.
"But sir, we don't get paid eno—"
"And who the f*ck are you? Better get your collective f*cking asses to searching before I make you all homeless!!!" Shouted the angry man.
"YES SIR!"
Unbeknownst to the platoon of men eagerly searching the surroundings for their next paycheck, the neglected stick started wiggling about on its own, as if possessed by a demon, before making its way deep into the Feter Forest.
