Chase abandoned his shirt to mark their spot on the beach. Everyone else at the beach stared at him in disgust. Sure he wasn’t the best looking and was completely out of shape, but it was rude nonetheless. Sensing people staring, Chase gripped Jane’s hand, hoping her presence could comfort him.
“Just ignore them, Chase,” Jane whispered.
“They’re all staring at me…” Chase said. “Usually I like attention, but this feels different…”
As Thomas had mentioned, there is a Burrito Gong food cart set up on the boardwalk. Burrito Gong, though it specializes in burritos, also supplies tacos, nachos, quesadillas, and a few other Americanized Mexican foods. A few other food carts have been set up, but this is the only burrito food cart. Chase handed a stack of money to everyone to pay for their food.
“Hey, step right up to the Burrito Gong food cart! Tasty burritos brought to where the people are!” the guy running the cart announced cheerfully. “We even have some churro bites today!”
“Ooooooh!” Chase said.
“Two medium bean and beef burritos, please! Extra cheese!” Thomas said.

“Would that be all for you, sir?” the cart owner asked.
“Hmmm, actually, I’ll take a bag of churro bites,” Thomas added.
“Alright, your total is $18.02,” the cart owner announced.
“Here you are, sir, keep the change,” Thomas said, handing over a $20 bill.
“Alright! Thank you, sir!” the cart owner said.
The cart owner put the cash in the cash register. Then, he turned around and wrapped up two burritos. Afterwards, he scooped some churro bites into a little baggy. The food items were then placed in Thomas’ hands.
“Have a good day!” Thomas said.
“You too!” the cart owner said.
Jane was about to be next in line, but Madeline snarled at her. Jane shrunk back a bit. Madeline then stepped up to the counter. The delicious smell of the churro bites wafted in the breeze towards Chase.
“I was 10 large bean and cheese burritos, sour cream, ABSOLUTELY NO BEEF! IF I SEE EVEN ONE CRUMBLE OF BEEF I’M GOING TO BE MAD!” Madeline said. “Oh, and a large bag of churro bites.”
“Okay! I will not be adding any beef to your burrito. Anything else?” the cart owner asked.
“No!“ Madeline snapped.
“Okay, your total is $100.70,” the cart owner said.
“One-hundred dollars?! Here, but you better give me my change!” Madeline said, handing over 2 $100 bills.
“Right away, ma’am,” the cart owner said.
The cashier handed back $99.25. Madeline took the money and counted it, grumbling. The cart owner then got to work folding her burritos. Madeline counted the money again and realized she had been cheated five cents.
