There came a day when not even the shade of the trees could provide enough cool. Try as hard as they might, the pure intense heat could not be stopped. Here in the woods was a giant mansion long thought abandoned, but, secretly, the mansion held a BIG HUGE secret.
“Heeeeeeeey, Jane!” Chase exclaimed, trudging through the halls of the mansion. “How are you holding up?!”
“Well, I could be better,” Jane replied, looking up from the dark corner she has secluded herself to.
“Dang, that sucks,” Chase replied, breathing heavily.
“You don’t look so well, yourself,” Jane replied.
“I can handle it! Don’t forget, I spent most of my life prowling the plains of Africa…even on hot days!” Chase said with a laugh.
There was a clamor of noise all of a sudden. As it turned out, the din was caused by Jane’s mother, Madeline, bursting into the room. The door stopper had vanished awhile back so now the door just swings and hits the wall. Madeline glanced at the dented wall and then back at Chase.

“Fat man! It’s too hot! I’m about to turn into a raisin! A RAISIN!” Madeline wailed.
“Ma’am. You dented my wall again,” Chase said with a huff.
“Yeah? Well maybe you should get a new door stopper!” Madeline argued.
“Hey, uhhhh, is THAT the door stopper?” Jane asked.
“Where?” Chase asked.
“No!” Madeline said.
Tangled up in Madeline’s short ginger hair was, in fact, the door stopper. Madeline was known to do crazy stuff, but she always denied doing anything unusual. Along with that, everyone in the house knew that Madeline was a total drama queen. Chase walked over and gently untangled the door stopper from her hair.
“Ah, so it is!” Chase said.
“No! Where did you get that from?! I swear I didn’t have it!” Madeline lied, blushing in embarrassment.
“Anyways, Chase, why have you not turned the air conditioner up? It’s blazing hot in here!” Jane complained, fanning herself uselessly with her hand.
“Ah, well… The air conditioner is a bit…broken… I tried to fix it, but I maaaaaay have made things worse…” Chase said, grinning awkwardly.
“Where’s Thomas?! Get him to fix it! He’s a tech genius!” Madeline cried out in frustration as she flailed her arms in the air.
“I would, but he’s on a date with Daisy,” Chase said. “I MEAN! UH! FORGET I SAID THAT! HOT DAY ISN’T IT?! IT SEEMS TO GET HOTTER EACH DAY!”
“DAISY?! WHO IS DAISY?!” Madeline shrieked.
Madeline had become super possessive of Thomas lately. The mention of any other woman hanging out with him made her frustrated. Chase covers his face with his hands, regretting accidentally saying this piece of information that Thomas had SPECIFICALLY told him not to say. Could Thomas possibly be handling the heat any better than his housemates, though?
