Chapter 19 something is peeking
The Hologram disappeared at the same time as the shot pierced the glasses along with what was behind it.
Staring at the man's body wallowing in his own blood, Jake lifted his foot as he heard the splash of blood on the floor, lowering his rifle, Jake's gaze shifted to a sword that looked to be made of some kind of crystal that lay on the metal ground. A moment later a blue light flashed and the sword disappeared into thin air.
"you did well" Arlain said softly.
Taking a deep breath, Jake started walking with unsteady steps, seeing this Arlain asked worriedly "Are you okay Jake?"
But Jake just nodded silently and kept walking for a few minutes before he finally spoke "...Arlain, tell me can we win this?"
"Why do you ask that?" Arlain said while looking forward, hearing Arlain's evasive answer, Jake replied "I don't know, I feel your magic power is decreasing...."
Hearing Jake's words, Arlain was shocked in his heart, he should have been stably channeling his mana to Jake, so there was no way he would know that his magic power was almost running out, unless "Can you feel mana?"
Arlain reflexively asked, did Jake have a talent for magic?
"I'm not sure, but it seems so, at first I thought it was just my feeling, but over time I could feel your Mana decreasing rapidly" Jake answered in a flat tone, turning towards the cafeteria earlier, in front of them was the door where the man named Kuron had entered.
That meant this was the way to the next floor of the ship.
"how much mana do you have left" Jake asked while holding his rifle, looking back there were traces of blood from the boots that he took from one of the guards.
"less than 50%" Arlain answered honestly.
"half huh....the man earlier, do you want to catch him to ask where the cockpit is?"
"Correct" Arlain answered briefly, there was a gray atmosphere between the two of them, after Jake killed the man Arlain could see his hands shaking but he faked it by holding his rifle tightly, Jake was facing his fear, kill or be killed, and after he killed someone the fear of being killed became real.
"I catch you want to finish this quickly, Are we at a disadvantage?" Jake asked.
The thought of lying crossed Arlain's mind, however, right now the bitter truth was better than a sweet lie.
"We have to finish this quickly and go into hiding while waiting for my fleet to come" Arlain said in a serious tone, however, Jake just smiled at his words "Hey Arlain, is the plan still the same?"
Hearing Jake's question, Arlain tilted his head "To break through to the end?"
"yes" Jake nodded.
"there's nothing we can do but fight to the end now, but if you have another plan, you better tell me now Jake Carrack" Arlain said to Jake with a smirk behind his slime body, he could feel this guy was brewing something in his head.
But unlike Arlain's expectation, Jake said something completely different.
"you know, that was the first person I killed in my life" Jake said casually, hearing that Arlain didn't know what to say, but Jake continued without waiting for his answer "I thought it would be really scary, you know killing people and stuff"
"I see..." Arlain answered in confusion, He had realized that he was not a fighter or living in a condition to kill, at first Arlain did not care about such things, but after his meeting with Jake, he became aware that all the soldiers, knights and people he sent to war probably felt the same way, to him it was just like a strategy game behind the scenes, only after this fight with Jake, Arlain knew what it felt like to be in the midst of life and death, to kill people directly and see life disappear from their eyes.

Even though Arlain had killed a lot of people, many times directly with his hands, at that time there was no danger to his life, the lives of the people he killed had no meaning in his eyes, if before he was here he would have insulted Jake for being so weak and emotional, but now Arlain understood a little, how it felt to lose, fighting desperately for his own life and the hardships he had never experienced before.
For the first time he put himself in the position of the person fighting below him, for the first time, after the billions of lives he had taken, people's lives began to have a weight on him.
Arlain understood why Jake hesitated to take someone's life, at that moment, when silence filled the two of them, Jake took a breath and continued with a sad smile on his face "You know Arlain, when I saw the wounds, I winced imagining the pain"
"I will heal you immediately if you are injured, you will not feel pain" Arlain answered.
Hearing Arlain's words trying to calm him down Jake chuckled before speaking with a wry smile "That's reassuring... but what if you're not there?"
"I'm stuck to your head, are you stupid?" Arlain replied with a protest, but there was no usual strength in his words.
"It's not that" Jake shook his head "What if your mana runs out or you get separated from me"
"That won't-" Before Arlain could answer however, Jake added "They have a pact not to hurt you"
Hearing Jake's words, Arlain finally understood what he meant.
"no matter what the outcome of this fight is, you will survive and at worst I might be killed" Jake lowered his head "I thought about it when I saw that guy's wounds, I might be tortured worse than him"
"Jake..." Arlain called him, but once again he didn't know what to say, if Jake didn't want to fight anymore, then this was the end, he should have been able to accept this possibility, when he thought so, Jake raised his head "but you know, when I killed him, I was relieved that he no longer felt the pain from his wounds"
Looking into Jake's eyes, there was a strong sense of determination in his eyes, but there was something mixed in there, a little madness.
"I was so tortured being locked up in there, at first I was afraid of dying and afraid to kill, but now somehow I feel calm" Jake clenched his right fist in front of his eyes at the same time Arlain felt a pull for his mana. "it wasn't as bad as I thought, like I just got a bad tooth pulled at the dentist"
Listening to Jake's words, Arlain could feel something roaring for more power like a wild animal, as if it was hungry for power.
"I can't go back there, not anymore, I can't stand it, if I die at least I'm not in pain anymore, killing people isn't as bad as I thought, besides they're enemies aren't they?" Jake smiled, but there was a hint of cruelty mixed in it, at the same time the roar became clearer and clearer, Arlain didn't know what was happening, this was not the usual Jake, something was wrong, very wrong, something trying to pull his mana out, but the pull wasn't from Jake himself, something from outside, as if trying to take his mana through Jake, it was only at that moment when Arlain seemed to see a crack in the air, a crack as small as a strand of hair, but it wouldn't escape Arlain's attention.
It was at that moment that a reality dawned upon Arlain, something was trying to influence Jake, insolence! Feeling angry at whoever tried to mess with Jake, channeling mana into his eyes, the crack became more and more clear in Arlain's vision, like a crack in reality itself, inside the crack something seemed to be moving.
Trying to examine it closer, at that moment a blood-red eye stared directly into Arlain's eyes.
Seeing the creature he had never seen before, Arlain shouted angrily "Who are you?!"
"eh? Arlain?" Jake asked confusedly to Arlain who suddenly shouted, but Arlain ignored Jake and did not break eye contact with the peeking creature.
The eyes stared at Arlain as if interested, for some reason Arlain felt a danger that he had never felt before.
"Jake, step back" Arlain said with the highest alertness
"Uh what?" Jake who did not realize what Arlain saw could only stand in confusion, seeing Arlain who suddenly became strange, but feeling Arlain's seriousness, Jake slowly took steps back while watching his surroundings with his rifle in hand ready.
"what are you? what do you want?" Arlain asked warily.
After a few seconds, the creature answered in a hoarse voice that was not clear whether it was male or female.
"... you have taken what is ours ...my...human....."
Hearing that, Arlain tilted his head in confusion as he suddenly realized a golden thread connected between Jake and the creature, seeing that, Arlain chanted his magic "Ultimate barrier!"
Yet still, the thread was still connected, this time a large hand like a corpse came out of the crack, seeing that Arlain hurriedly chanted his second magic "Dimension Lock!!!"
As soon as his magic chanted, the creature whispered "My Human...." before disappearing like a lie.
"what the hell?" at that moment Jake suddenly raised his voice.
"what's wrong?" Arlain asked, worried that the creature had done something to him, but Jake said something unexpected "I feel something starting to fill inside my body, is this normal?"
Focusing his mana sense through his connection with Jake, Arlain also felt it, mana started to increase from within Jake's body.... Jake Carrack, the Terra Humanis started to replenish his own mana....
At the same time a question arose in Arlain's mind, does the planet called Terra or Earth really have no magic?
