Chapter 13 Let Loose

Chapter 13 Let Loose

"That's very kind of you" Arlain said looking at the man lying pitifully on the floor "I thought you were going to kill him"

"Ah forget it, we don't have much time" Jake said trying to change the subject.

"Alright then" Arlain shrugged and started looking around the hallway before he found an iron panel attached to the wall not far from where they were standing "There"

Standing in front of the panel, Arlain spoke "This panel is protected by powerful magic, you will die if you try to open it carelessly"

"So what?" Jake stared at the panel with a frown.

"No problem, I will deactivate the magic but this is our bet" Arlain said in a serious tone and started chanting his magic "If we fail here then that's it"

"I understand" Jake replied with a stern expression while looking at the complicated magic circle that began to form around him, the magic circle began to layer and become more complicated and more complicated until the sound of something breaking was heard from inside the panel.

"I even managed to turn off the alarm that was installed inside it" Arlain's voice had a mix of tiredness and pride before he swayed excitedly "Now rip it open!"

"got it" Jake said with a relieved smile before Arlain stopped him "Wait, if you feel something sting pull your hand away"

"wait a minute what?" Jake asked furrowing his brows. "didn't you turn it off?"

"of course I did! it's just to be safe!" Arlain said confidently however Jake had learned not to trust everything he said.

Sighing tiredly, Jake started to feel pain in his right hand that still holding the gun so he tried to open the panel with his left hand, carefully touching the panel with his finger, it seemed that Arlain had deactivated it properly.

"Can you go faster Jake Carrack?" Arlain said impatiently.

"I did my best"

"Is it that hard?" Arlain asked while waving his little slime hand. "Do it faster"

"Oh! I'm sorry my Lord!, ripping this iron panel with bare hands is very easy, but it seems a bit stuck, can you lend me your hands? Oh what is that? I asked for hands not a lubricant!" Jake spoke sarcastically while looking for a grip on the iron panel as Arlain shook his slime body on his head while shouting "Rude!"

"Can you be quiet for a bit?" Jake said to Arlain who kept protesting above his head before he managed to pull the iron panel like paper and tear it open, inside there were many colorful cables but there was one cable that looked transparent with sparkling purple light moving inside it.

"Oh! finally we found it!" Arlain shouted happily while Jake let out a sigh of relief.

"Then, please lower your head" Arlain said to Jake.

"Can't you come down first" Jake raised his eyebrows but Arlain refused "No way, if I come down now our mana connection will be cut off and that will be troublesome"

"You're just lazy aren't you" Jake said flatly but Arlain strongly rejected his accusations "This is for efficiency!"

Having no other choice, Jake brought his head closer to the panel while hoping not to get electrocuted, touching the cable with the purple light, Arlain's body glowed purple as he made sounds of pleasure that made Jake uncomfortable, a moment later an Alarm sounded again in the hallway.

(Sabotage detected in panel 24, sabotage detected in panel 24, automatic power off, automatic power off)

The room that was filled with red lights and alarms suddenly became silent and all the light became pitch black.

"hm, I think they set two alarms there" Arlain said in surprise.

"Are you kidding me?" Jake sighed, he was used to Arlain's behavior now.

"it's okay I've charged enough mana, we should get moving now" Arlain spoke to him and yet Jake didn't answer "Jake?"

"Ah, please wait a moment... I think I need to rest" Jake breathed on his shoulder and fell to his knees while holding onto the wall.

"you've reached your limit"

"Haha, I'm sorry" Jake forced a laugh but his breath started to get short.

"Forgive me... I'll heal you now" Arlain said with guilt in his voice and with that Arlaian's body started to glow green leaf as green magic circles surrounded both of them, feeling his breath start to lighten, the pain in Jake's body slowly disappeared like a lie.

"Wow the pharmaceutical companies are going to hate this" Moving his supposedly broken hand, Jake was once again reminded of the mysterious power called magic.

However, the immense fatigue still weighed down his body making it feel like he was moving in mud.

"I'm not very good at healing magic so I can only heal damage to the body unlike fatigue or illness" Arlain said.

"No, this is more than enough" Jake smiled and stood on his feet, walking towards one of the black-haired guards lying on the floor, Jake could see him breathing softly from behind his armor.

"Looks like he's still alive" Jake said and picked up the rifle that was thrown nearby, inspecting the rifle Jake felt the futuristic white and gray rifle in his hand.

On the small screen on the gun was written the number 412 which he assumed was the number of bullets which was incredibly large, while the blue pistol in his other hand did not have a screen but something like a meter from green to reddish on the handle and the meter was still green because it had not been fired.

"This is pretty good" Jake smiled with two guns in his hands, it didn't seem too difficult from a regular shooting gun. "this is so sci-fi! Just like in the movies!"

"Hmph, such cheap weapons, do we really need it?" Arlain looked at the gun with distaste.

"It's better than nothing" Jake said feeling that the power flowing into his body had decreased, Arlain who understood that nodded forcefully, he had pushed Jake's body too hard earlier and this was also a result of his lack of ability that made him ashamed.

"where's the safety? Is there safety at all?" Jake asked while fiddling with the rifle in his hand.

"I don't know, I've never touched such a weapon in my life" Arlain said while watching Jake who was happily playing with the weapon in his hand like a child.

"found it" Jake said excitedly as he turned a button on the gun which made the gun trigger lock before tucking it into his pants which made Arlain more confused, but Jake didn't seem to care and with a big smile he raised the rifle to aim before firing the laser gun to the end of the hallway "Wow? This gun has no recoil! And it's very easy to use!" Jake said happily which Arlain didn't understand the reason for.

"so what's next?" Jake asked while still having a big smile on his face.

"Starting now, we're going to light up this ship, I'm tired of the darkness" Arlain said, a moment later a blue neon light shone dimly along the hallway "They're here"

As if following Arlain's words, the sound of heavy and crowded footsteps was heard from the bend at the end of the hallway which made Jake tense up.

"from now on the real fight begins" Arlain said coldly "There will be no more mercy, do you understand Jake?"

Hearing Arlain's words, Jake hardened his expression, glanced at the two people lying on the floor for a second, Jake sharpened his eyes and tightened his grip on the rifle in his hand and took a deep breath "Yes, I understand... And the next plan?"

"We advance and continue to break through until the end" Arlain answered

"That's all?" Jake tilted his head

"Indeed" Arlain noded.

Hearing that, Jake smiled mischievously which made Arlain have a bad feeling as Jake simply threw away the pistol on his waist.

"You threw it away?" Arlain asked half-confused even though Jake seemed to like the small gun quite a bit.

"The pistol will interfere with my movement, I will only bring what I can hold, didn't you say it yourself? We will break through" With enthusiasm in his heart and burning feelings in his chest, Jake started running towards the end of the hallway "Let the mana Flow!"

"Is Terra filled with crazy people?!" Arlain yelled but the joy was clearly heard in his voice. And with that dozens of guards wearing full armor and weapons in their hands began to enter the hallway...
