Chapter 82: reasons for the Broken Ship

Chapter 82: reasons for the Broken Ship

The present location was unknown, but the pitiful, and murky light made by the few light stones, that were embedded within the two side walls of the large chamber, was exposing seven individuals, all lined up, kneeling and facing the deeper, darker, and obscure side of the hall that they stood in.

“You fucking idiots!!! One assignment---, only one task--, just one single job-, and in the end, you have succeeded in creating quite---, the fucking--, mess!!!”

“Aghhh—!”

“---.”

But at this moment, from within the deeper part of the chamber, the part which was not illuminated, the voice of an angry man came crashing on all of them, alongside a strong sense made out of the consciousness and the energy of the furious man, which forced them into their kneeling positions, as their bones begin to creak from the force that was applied on their bodies, as though a boulder, trying to crush them.

“I—, still stand, and I believe---, that I have made the right decision.”

“What—!!!”

“Thrum!”

“Argh—!”

But it was not the case for all of them, as out of the seven, one man was still standing on his own feet, with just a mild discomfort on his face that could be seen, alongside a soft grunt that escaped his mouth. Though, some drops of sweat were currently moving down his temple, and that was more than enough, to make one comprehend that even he, was under an overabundance of pressuring force. Because if one were to look attentively, one could catch the almost imperceptible tremblings, that his body made from time, and time.

However, as the man who was on his feet made a reply to the enraged voice, the hidden man’s anger grew stronger, as an even more potent sense fell upon the seven men and women, that were facing the obscure part of the hall.

“The fucker, had hidden onto the ship and had used an explosive item to open a hole, in the lower part of the ship, ruining the camouflaging formation array—, so we had no choice, but to lower and stop the ship momentarily. However—,”

“Now---? Are you trying to excuse yourself? Is that it?!”

“Rumble!” — “Crack!” — “Crack!”

“Argh—, there were three others that attacked us. From the ground. They had already—, planned it---, argh---, they knew---, the route we were supposed to be taking it.”

“So---, now! You want to tell me---, that I have rats in my house?!! Is that what you are trying to tell me?”

Despite the fact, that the man who could stand against the pressure which was crashing on the seven of them, was trying his best to explain the situation, which had led to their trouble. The hidden man, was anything but understandable, as even more irritation and anger could be felt in his voice. As no explanation, or justification could satisfy him unless he was going to crush all of them under the floor of the chamber, where they were currently kneeling. For it was obvious just by looking at the hard stone floor, under the feet of the four men and two women who were kneeling, as it had many small cracks on it. However, it was under the man which stood on his feet, that the hard ground, had been fully smashed and broken into, as from all the force that the man had to bear, its feet were already a finger-deep inside the hard floor of the chamber.

“No—. It is—, it was possible that they had other methods to communicate, or to deduce our course.”

“---.”

“Haaa—!”

“Sigh—!”

Unexpectedly, all of a sudden, the crushing intent that was pressing against the seven of them, disappeared without any explanation, letting them exhale and sigh, after a long period which was akin to a constant agonizing torment, as though a sea was intending to crush all of their bones, and organs.

“Then—, what about the cretins, which had attacked you?”

“Sigh----. Four men, all Immortals stage cultivators, two at rank 4, one at rank 6, and the last---, the last one who had already infiltrated the carrier ship, a quasi-rank 8 cultivator.”

“Huuuuuuuu—, a quasi-rank 8 Immortal you say!?”

“Yes.”

“So---, you! A rank 1 Immortal King, and six other Immortals, on a higher rank of strength. Had returned here—! Without the head—!! Of even one!!! Of the motherfuckers, that had attacked you---!!!! You fucking pieces of trash!!! Why the fuck did you even return here!!! Why did you not die, that way I would have not known---, that I had hired some incompetent pieces of shit!!!!”

“Rumble!” — “Rumble!!” — “Rumble!!!” — “Thud!!!!” — “Crack!!!!!” — “Crack!!!!!!” — “Crack!!!!!!!”

Ultimately, as the information about the assailants was revealed, the man who could not be seen by the seven present, immediately erupted in an even greater outrage. As curses, swearings, and belittlements of the seven, poured one after another. However, the most terrifying thing, was the sense that flooded the chamber, as it was to the point, that the six men and women felt as though they were about to suffocate and pass out, from all the pressure that they were under. But, they were not alone, as even the Immortal King who had resisted the pressure until this point, had to bend, and then kneel, with a heavy thump, as the rock underneath himself cracked, as though he was about to be buried alive, by a giant boulder which seemed to have been slammed on his back.

“I—!”

“You---, what?!”

“I-, had–, to—!”

“Worthless trash! Speak!!!”

Nonetheless, the pressure on the seven of them had to be released once again, as the condition of the four men and two women, had reached the point, that their eyes and all visible skin had turned red. In contrast, the man who had finally been put on his knees was unable to utter even a whole sentence when he was exposed to the highest degree of the hidden man’s rage.

“I—. I had to manage the ship---, and the transport, as well to prepare for an immediate departure. I did not take lead in hunting the assailants, as the power of the six here---, was more than enough to contend against the four of them, however,---.”

“Continue—.”

“However—, multiple fluctuations, with an intensity equal to that of a King, had reached our location, and the beasts that had been released were attracted and had heeded towards the origin of the fluctuations. Once the beasts had run out of our observable location, the four assailants had lost their element of confusion for the messy battle, so they had turned around, and then run away---. With everything happening so fast, I was not sure of what could happen next, so I had no other choice, but to call my subordinates back, and flee. So as the worst scenario of being discovered, and then being entangled in an even greater disaster could be avoided.”

“---------.”

“------.”

“---.”

“You can leave! Return to your posts, and manage the beast that you had returned with. Fortunately for your pathetic lives, the jewels of the exhibition are still in their cages, otherwise I would have already killed you, for this fucking incompetence.”

On his knees, while droplets of sweat were running over his face and back, the man who had held his head high, and the six others, waited for quite some time, before the mysterious man spoke to them again.

Though this time around, there was no pressurizing intent that meant to kill them, as there was no anger, irritation, or any kind of hostile or antagonistic emotions, as though this was another man entirely. And yet, the way he was speaking of their deaths, left them in an even greater terror, as there was no doubt, that in front of the one they were currently kneeling, their lives were as cheap and light, as a single feather from any ordinary bird.

----------------------------------------

"---."

With the seven men and women, having left the big hall, the lights of the large room dimmed, until they were gone completely, letting only the darkness stay, and cover everything.

“A traitor---, a rat? That possibility sure does exist.”

“My Lord, you should not concern yourself with such possibility, since all such actions will have no usage, no matter whom it is that might want to engage against us.”

Though not long after the seven were gone, and the hall was empty, the voice of the man echoed from the dark. Yet, he was not alone, as a second voice, the voice of another man answered him, making it obvious that the man had not been alone, and in fact accompanied by the presence of another man, who had remained silent, for the whole duration of the procedure against the seven men and women.

“Sir Black---, is discerning and wise as always---. However—.”

“Are you afraid?”

“Fear---, unfortunately, is but a natural response of all humans, and it does not elude me, unfortunately.”

“You know the risk. And you know what the future will entail. The Kingdom will have at its best a few dozen---, maybe a hundred years in the best of cases. This will be, the last action needed for your family to gain our complete trust, once this will be performed. We will ensure your next ascension and your family's safety. However—, if you want to bet on the Kingdom’s success, or you want to defer to the Prairie of Chiefs, and their kings, or maybe you are thinking of moving into the East Empire. Is all up to you, my Lord. In any case, the first option is but a major gamble, with an almost guaranteed chance of failure, and, while the last two have their own problems, you will have to deal with the addition of a simple fact---. And that is most obvious---, you will lose all the power you have accumulated in this region, and become a mere stray in a foreign land, which will be filled with even stronger monsters everywhere around you. The War Nation is another option---, but going with your entire family will be problematic. In the end, the choice is all but yours, my Lord!”

“---------.”

“------.”

“---.”

“Sigh—! The old, and new city lords have suppressed my family for far too long. And they already have their eyes on me, and on some of our dealings. However, with this act here---, I will follow sir Black’s advice, and make my bet.”

“Good! With our long association, once the time will come, I will make sure to nominate you as the new Green City Lord.”

“That being the case, I will deal with my part of the deal, and use the pawns to prepare the show.”

“Excellent!”

“Ahaammm---! Excuse me! Does that mean we are done here?”

“Ha-who!!?”

“Mi--mister Hunter, is that you?”

After a long conversation between the first man called Lord, and the second one named sir Black, out of nowhere, a third voice began to address the two men, stunning, and shocking them, as neither of them had sensed the presence of the third speaker, another man, whom sir Black called, mister Hunter.

Though, a noticeable observation that anyone could make, was that when the third speaker's voice could be heard, his intonation was not as deep or gravel-like as the two other men, giving the feeling, that he was not as old as the two of them.

“Yes---, we are done here---.”

“Mister Hunter, I would much appreciate, it if you could not approach us so covertly, as we might react strongly, and display our current location.”

“Sorry, sorry! However—, I was here, since those little Immortals and that little King had entered the hall. And---, were you not the ones who send the message for a meeting---, about these little ones' misfortune? I just came as per request, no need to be so alarmed.”

“What?”

“Gulp!”

Though, once the timing of his coming was revealed, the two old men’s shock could almost be seen by their audible reaction. As if he were to have attacked any one of them, while they had no idea of his presence, they could only shudder and imagine the possibility, of such an event.

“Although---, there is not much to say about this entire ordeal. The show will continue, and there will be no change in the schedule. Are we of the same mind---, Lord Endel, sir Uren?!”

“Yes, this is not enough to become a problem for us.”

“Obviously.”

“Then---, all is good, and with this, the meeting is over.”

“Hmmm?”

“---.”

Although the two men had been shaken by his ability to move undetected from their senses, which were surveilling the surrounding area, the tone, and the way that the man was taking control of the meeting, as though he had been leading it, pushed the two to fall in a deep silence. However, their silence was not one of acceptance, but one of anger. For he, not only had done nothing else but hide, he had essentially spied on them, while they were sharing and communicating between themselves, with confidential affairs.

“Then, let us meet in a few weeks from now. I will ret—.”

“Wait---, a moment please.!”

“Hmm—, what it is Lord Endel?”

“I miss spoke, as we still need to talk about the reason why those idiots had to run, in the first place?”

“Does it matter?”

“I believe we should talk, as this regards the son of the East General. If he were to make a move and come here—, then.”

“Why would he? His son is safe, the assailants are dead. Ultimately, there is no reason for him to come here. Either way, it is not like he can move from East Mountain city so easily. You are too afraid---, my Lord. I advise you to take a good night's rest, for there is still some time for the sun to rise again.”

“I—, I presume–, I might be, if mister Hunter is saying so. Then I must thank mister and bid farewell, till we meet again.”

“Yes, yes—. Wait–! Actually, there is one thing I want to say.”

“Please do.”

“Work faster, prepare the hole quicker, and be ready to start the show at the soonest. Now—, please excuse me, for I have to return to my hunt.”

“---------.”

“------.”

“---.”

“Sir Black---?! Has he left?”

From within the dark hall, the faint presence of the man called Hunter faded, leaving the two men in a long and very stretched silence, from the too many merits of the man. As be it his arrogance, the almost commanding like-tone of the man, or the almost uncaring attitude while he was speaking to them, had made them quite incensed inside.

However, the biggest irritation on which the silence was created, came from non-other then the man called Lord Endel, as the hastening of the preparations needed for the show, that he and sir Black were about to hold, required to be accomplished in silence, and in a subtle manner, so as to not alert, any of the nearby powers. Yet, the man's order-like request to progress faster, came to him, as though a rock had been smashed in his face, and if one were to clearly see his face, the anger on him might scare the onlooker.

“I have made ten checkings and made use of the most potent detection item I possess. So---, I can say, with an almost certainty, that he is no longer in our company.”

“Hmmm—, I will trust sir Balck. Though—, I will have to ask, why he, and who is he? I have yet to see his face, and yet, he seems to know quite a lot about us?! Please answer this time, sir Black.”

“Sigh---, I myself, do not know who he is, all that I can say is that he had provided us with quite the resources, and financial support towards our current adventure. He can not be trusted, however, for the fact that he had been able to put in the resources needed to become a partner, we can at least be sure, that he does not belong to any contrarian organization, or he is laying a trap for us. So---, well, my Lord can be sure, that if anything were to happen, I will personally deal with him.”

"---."

“In that case, I will trust and apologies for my own speculation and suspicion, sir Black. The next time we meet, we shall toast from my personal reserve.”

“I am looking forward, and with this, I will leave my Lord to finish the hole, while I will make sure to deliver the remaining headliners of the show.”

“I will await your arrival.”

“Till then, to blessings and to fortune, my Lord.”

"As well!"

"---."

With the conversation between the two men had ended, the hall become silent as though at present it was just an empty room, unknown if anyone of the three men were still in said room, for the darkness of the enclosed large chamber was almost suffocating.

"---."

"Trust, eh---?."
