Chapter 50: small Talk

Chapter 50: small Talk

Nonetheless, after Levis had seven refills of his teacup, Hubert four, while Rowen and Adrian had two for each one of them, the young captain began to address the boy in a much more serious manner, attracting the attention of the rest, especially that of Adrian, as he was the one to know nothing of the agreement made, while he had been unconscious at the said moment.

“Have you decided on how to give them to me?”

“Give them—, not exactly. As they can be considered to have been forced to do what they had done in their lives, I will file a request to the guard head Captain of the Green City, to have them both under me for further investigation on the slave black market involvement, and the search of the bandit head leader still at large, if this will not work, I will do it thru other methods at my disposal. Basically, they will be working for me, this way you can use them to do what you have in mind. However, I must repeat this, do not kill them, and do not torture them, am I understood?”

“Alright, I can do that. Let us go then.”

“Go? You want to get them now?”

“Yes.”

“Haa, you sure are impatient, but alright. Anyway, as they stand right now, they may not be regarded as a real threat. However this will be a simple clarification to them and that's all, you can forget about taking the to follow you right now.”

Yet, as he and Levis were rising from the table, Hubert that had come to himself, rose as well. However, at the same time, someone that should not be doing the same action as they were doing, made them shift their heads, and look at him in puzzlement.

“Adrian!? Stay down!”

“Captain, I need to confirm something, with the other prisoner that had awakened. Please let me come alongside you.”

“Hmmm. Is it necessary?”

“Yes.”

“Hubert, help this idiot to not fall, and injure himself by accident!”

Nonetheless, as Hubert was helping Adrian to stand on his feet and walk, the three others had already left the captain's tent and were walking towards the prisoner's tent, not too far off from them.

Although by the time, Hubert and Adrian reached the inside of the tent, to their surprise, the air seemed as though it was akin to the deepness and stillness of a dead lake, as the tent was now populated by the seven of them. The two prisoners, the boy, the young man, the old man, and the one that seemed to be crippled, while the last one was there to be as his support.

“There is no need to stare at us like this, it is not like we are here to kill you.”

“You have taken the two scouts from here, so I guess you are here to talk? However, the vice-captain over there seemed to have encountered some problems, so why have you come.”

Even as Rowen had broken the ice between them, and as Zuger had a fast reply, he could barely conceal the fear in his eyes, as he was glimpsing at the young child, as right now he had the impulse of shouting about the truth that had occurred in this place a few days ago. However to his horror, some time ago, once he had tried to explain to a guard what had happened, an abrupt and unimaginable kind of pain that had nearly driven him mad, had flashed in his mind, as though his body was set on fire and then in a bone-chilling cold, alternating between the two extremes in fast phases, as he had been pushing him near the limit of what his mind could tolerate.

“It is simple. Soon you will be put under me if all goes my way!"

“So you want to save—, help us?”

“No, and by “my way”, I mean you will be put under someone who is part of my company. You should know him since he---.”

“Who?”

However, at the words spoken by the young captain, not only Zuger, but Square too squinted his eyes, as their situation seemed to go in an unpredictable direction. However, the one to be more worried was Zuger as he had a very bad and certain hunch, as to whom they were about to be really put underneath.

“Levis here, you should know him already, after all, he had been the one too ---, well your face a few days ago.”

Though, at the mention of his name, as Rowen was presenting him, Zuger's face twitched constantly, as even as he seemed to have been healed normally, in truth, however, his bones and muscle were still aching, while the swelling was still somewhat noticeable if one was to looked attentively, however the twitching that made the pain to return even stronger could even be noticed, while he had the feeling of his own life, slowly falling into an even bigger abyss, that he will never be able to escape.

The narrative has been illicitly obtained; should you discover it on Amazon, report the violation.

“So we, will become this kid’s slaves?”

“Saying that, makes us seem like we are no different than the ones that owned you, however, this is the best I can do right now. Unless you want to be left to the guards, to judge you, while pinning most of the things done by your runaway leader onto you. Up to you.”

However, Rowen seemed even more staunch at Zuger's reply, as he truly gave him no option to refuse him whatsoever.

“Hmpff—. Alright, I will take it. Everything is better than helping that bastard, we will become the dogs of this brat for you.”

At his answer, Square that was at some distance, nodded his head as he approved, the details of their agreement.

“Good, with this you should be satisfied!?”

“Yes, this is good enough, although I need them to actively look for their leader, can you do something about their chains?”

“You are far too rushed on this. You should know, that although the man over there Square is no longer a cultivator, Zuger here is still a rank 4 peak cultivator, far too much for you to deal with. It is only for the black chains that are suppressing his energy, which make him harmless at this moment.”

“Are they such a big of a problem?”

“You should wait till you are strong enough to beat them to say that, with us here they can not do anything even unchained, though with your meager rank 1 power you are no match, even for the now mortal Square, given you small body. Till I make other preparation you can not take them. Regardless, we have to see, if I can grab them in the first place.”

“Alright.”

“Adrian, you can go with whatever you want to ask.”

“Thank you, Sir.”

Seeing that he was done regarding Levis’s part, Rowen turned towards Adrian as he was slightly intrigued by his out-of-character request.

However, as Adrian moved with the help of Hubert, he directed himself towards the chained Square some distance away, surprising Rowen as he had assumed it was Zuger that he wanted to question.

“How did you rank him as dangerous?”

However, as he was questioned, Square was at a loss, while he had no idea of what he was talking about, which led him to direct his gaze towards Zuger, with an eyebrow raised in confusion.

“He wants to know about the pervert.”

“Ah---! This is a sense, a kind of intuition I get from people. I can not really put it in words. You can say I can feel how dangerous someone is. Plus it does not take much to understand how dangerous a person is when they give the feeling that they are ready to die just to kill you.”

“That-, does not really—.”

“If I may vice-captain. That is a really good intuition that you have, but can you give me your current thoughts on us here?”

As Adrian was about to express his slight dissatisfaction, he was suddenly cut by the old man who had taken an interest in the argument of the two, more precisely in the strange presumed capability.

“Hmm—, right now—, the kid–, the one supporting him, the vice-captain, the captain, and then you, old man.”

“Is that so? Well, that is as correct as it is.”

Although his question seemed out of place, everyone could deduce, that during the fight, he could have seen them all in action, and could have simply deduced how strong they were from their fights.

Even so, as old Wan seemed to ask just out of curiosity, he did not miss the slight pause and indecisiveness in his words.

Another one who was able to understand something from his speech, was Zuger, as he had known this brother of his for many years, and as such he was able to understand the subtle uncertainty in his observations. However, he was in doubt, as he had not been able to tell him about Levis even once, as such he was aspecting a more honest answer, about the monster in a child's skin.

However, the one to be more in shock was Square himself. As the first time, he had laid his eyes on the boy he had the feeling of watching something that was definitely not human. However at this moment despite not being a cultivator anymore he was still capable of reading all those present aside from the boy, as the kid was giving him the simple feeling of watching a normal peasant boy with an ordinary cultivation.

“If that's really true you might have a use after all. Your intuition might be your extreme sensibility to the energy from one’s dantian.”

“Hmm-. Well, with this, we might be able to leverage it to our advantage, if there is a situation that we might require. However, if this is all let us return as I still have to deal with the villagers before we Leave.”

Though, while they were leaving, Zuger gave a profound look at the boy, as there seemed to be something different that he could not put in words.

Although, once they were gone, and there was just him and Square, he turned his head to ask him about what he had been able to deduce from them.

“They are powerful, the wounded one is more powerful than you. The captain must be at the rank 6 if I am not mistaken, the old man is giving a very bad feeling, however, I do not know for sure but there seemed to be something wrong with him, even as he was trying to hide his power. The weird one though is the kid, it is as though he had just started to cultivate, and the feeling from when he had killed the bandit to now, is too much of a gap in personality and intensity, there was nothing in his eyes or his behavior, just a normal kid apart from his low cultivation.”

“That is enough. Focus on healing and see if you can restart your cultivations to help your body. We will talk in-depth when that brat will come.”

“Hmm? Alright.”

Although at this moment, they did not know, or maybe Zuger did, that old Wan who was moving with Rowen and the rest, was secretly listening on their conversation, while being surprised at the words spoken by Square.

However, he had to unexpectedly redirect his attention, as the one that he was most interested to know about, had made a remark that he could not thoroughly understand, making him maintain his expression unchanged and stuck for several seconds, alongside Rowen, Adrian, and Hubert.

“What did you say? Can you repeat, I must mishear your words.”

“Alright. I made- no, helped Village Chief, uncle Hunter, and brother Nider to become cultivators.”

Though as the meaning implied by his phrase was falling on all of them, they all gave looks of incredulity and doubt, at his absurd words.

“How can you make someone a cultivator? If any random kid could do it, the world would be filled with cultivators by now, even pebbles would have started to cultivate. Ahh, if you want to tell a joke, at least try to say one that is far more believable.”

“But is true!”

“Yes, yes, Captain I will go put this idiot to rest.”

“Ahh-, yes, go. However, I do not have to remind you that everything here stays here and no word to anyone else.”

“Yes.”

Yet once Hubert moved with Adrian towards the tent, Rowen looked at Levis’s eyes, with a hardened face.

“Is this true or just a joke?”

“It is real, they have become real cultivators.”

“Alright, old Wan can you check on them—, old Wan?!”

“---Yes I will do it as soon as possible.”

Though as Rowen spoke to old Wan, he witnessed the old man daydreaming while looking into the far distance, before coming to himself.

“Where are they now?”

“Ahh, well, about that—.”

Yet, as Levis expressed the feeling of having done something wrong, and began to explain the situation in more depth, the faces of the two changed in a bizarre way, as they truly did not know whether the kid was playing with them or not.

“In that case, young master, I will visit them at a later hour. Now if you can excuse me I will take a short leave and take a walk thru the camp.”

“Very well, in that case, I will return to my cultivation, Levis, you can go back, and await till I will call you again.”

“Alright.”

As all that there was to say was conveyed, Rowen left for his tent, where Hubert and Adrian were at this moment and Levis took the road north of the camp to where the villagers of his village were, while old Wan strolled out of the camp, and then towards the river bank, of the river situate south of the camp.

Though once arrived, he begin to stare, at an old man that was sleeping on the opposite side of the river bank, with a serious face, that he had to put only one other time, in the little trip of his young master.

“May I know why this senior has come to this place?”

“Ahh- what? Ahh–-, yes. Can I not come to meet my neighbor once in a while, or are you saying that I can not move as I please, here on my own land?”
