Chapter 24: Uncertainties and Worries

“---What situation?”

At Rowen’s question, old Wan turned his gaze from him as he looked in the northwest direction, where several guards were pointing their weapons, toward two wounded bandits with their backs on the trunk of a big tree.

“Survivors? Isn’t he the one that I stab? I think he stabbed Bloody Dog's leg!?”

“Yes, he did. What should we do, captain?

As he pondered for a few seconds over the issue, he looked over to the old man, after which he turned to the guards.

“Take them. If they live, they live. If they die, they die. We still have questions to ask, about the remaining leaders and if there are any prisoners at their base.”

“Yes, Captain!”

As the guards heard his orders, they immediately parted to inform those guarding the two surviving bandits.

Though, as the guards left him alone with old Wan, he began to clench his fist and to feel his body, as he found further power in him, making his mood improve for the first time since he was in this remote corner of the Kingdom.

"Sigh.”

But at his behavior, the old man could only sigh with a downcast face, as the young man in front of him, did not seem to remember, the ordeal that nearly put him in death's way.

“Under normal circumstances, I would congratulate you for breaking to the 6th rank. But in this case, I can only say, that I am disappointed with you. If you can not take notice of yourself and jump into the first danger for power, you’ll eventually lose both yourself and your own life.”

However, at the old man's words, Rowen took a strong attitude as his frown and glance become somewhat cold, even in the face of the person that was his mentor.

“Do I have that leisure?”

But at the same time in the face of his words, the old man could only sigh again as he knew the young man and his situation, after all, his sternness and rebuke were coming for his well-being above everything else, while ignoring the feeling of the young man in question.

But as the two of them were about to continue their back and forth, the guards in charge of the two survivors came back carrying the two men as their feet were dragging lifelessly on the ground. But as Rowen took a glance at the man that had attacked him and then had tried to kill himself while impairing his companion, all he could see was an almost lifeless shell as his face was a stark white, while his eyes were essentially looking powerlessly around. As for the second man, his situation was even worse as he was unconscious while heavily breathing, while every breath he was taking was one of great effort.

“Fuck! This way they won’t survive the night. We need to treat them, if they really die without getting anything, we would really make a huge loss. I’ve forgotten to instruct anyone to take if possible at least one or two of the rank 4 alive. I guess you did not leave anyone alive, did you?”

But as the irritated Rowen turned to the old man all he could see was the shaking of his head in negative confirmation. Even though he knew, that the old man had not let anyone live, just so he could not attempt anything else.

“Hmmm, move them in a tent close to mine have them guarded, and call someone who specializes in healing to look at them, I'll use some of my medicine to keep them alive. Let’s go back inside.”

As Rowen began to move towards the camp, someone else was desiring to go out, as the person that had created the commotions at the villager's side, little Levis, was now finding himself with a big problem staring down on him.

As he was too afraid, to look in the eyes of the scary guard, that was admonishing him with his gaze.

But Levis was not the only one in problem, as even Adrian was struggling to find any explanation to give to his captain, as to why had he let a child escape outside the camp and create such commotion. As after the battle had ended, he had immediately returned inside the camp, to see to the person responsible, but as soon he had arrived and heard of the condition of the man, his face had immediately darkened.

“You—.”

Nonetheless, he had no time to speak anything much, as the footsteps from numerous men and the clinking of armor came from the collapsed gates, as the first person that he saw was his own captain and old Wan, followed by guards holding what seemed to be two half-dead bandits.

But he was not the only one to look at them, as little Levis took short glances at them, only to be shocked at the two figures dragged by the guards, as his eyes widened in stupefaction, that was soon replaced by murderous intent, while his face began to change as though the will of murder itself was possessing him.

[KID, KEEP YOUR EMOTIONS IN CHECK, OR ELSE DON'T BLAME ME IF I'LL MAKE YOU CRY LIKE A BABY.]

But before anything could happen, a thunderous shout resounded inside his mind as his entire body shook minutely from the power that accompanied the words spoken. Though, the real surprise came from the speaker, as the manner and tone of the usually mellower and easygoing voice seemed to be one of a wrathful and stern demon ready to punish him, however surprisingly, causing him to settle his murderous intent, while only gazing at the bandits with a strong but hidden hate and anger.

[Good, you calmed down. We don’t need another mess directly after the other one.]

[Yes. Yes.]

However, at the same time that they were looking at Rowen, his gaze landed on them, as he made his way followed by the old man who accompanied him, not before instructing the guards, as they proceeded with the two bandits towards the center of the camp.

“Adrian, give me a quick report!”

“Yes, Captain!”

Though as he did not take long to arrive, before the troubled Adrian, and immediately asked for clarification.

Adrian could only state the course of events as they had occurred without embellishing anything, however, the face of the young captain did not change in the face of any of the events that had transpired on his side, as he had seen the young boy stabbing the bandit and the man charging out before focusing on his battle.

“I understand, take this and treat the villager.---So, what is your name, kid?”

Nonetheless, as soon as Adrian was done with the brief explanation, the captain touched his pouch at his waist, taking out a small squarish cube before handing it to Adrian, as he instantly turned to the small child in front of him, not looking at the leaving Adrian that had immediately entered the tent where the man was staying.

“L-Levis Ato. What did you give that guard? Can you help village chief?”
