Chapter 23: After You Bleed and Panic

Chapter 23: After You Bleed and Panic

“But it seems we have a strange situation!?”

“---What situation?”

However, returning back at the moment that Adrian and the village chief brought back little Levis.

As they came back, behind the wall shields, little Levis was thrown onto the ground, as Adrian made a reversal while beginning to support the villagers, as the bandits had increased their offense after the sudden brazen act of the three of them.

But as Levis was getting on his feet, with a rather absent and confused look, the voices inside his head were yelling at him without end.

[Kid! Hey, kid! Kid, are you there! Damit respond to me! Answer me, kid!]

[Heeey—my disciple, are you there? Heeeeeyyy!?!]

But even when the normally annoying and obnoxious voices were trying their best to make him answer, his face was still a lump of blankness as he seemed out of sorts as though there was no one at the helms of his mind.

[It’s useless, he is still jumbled.]

[I told you, not to hit his consciousness so hard!]

[Did you want him to remain stuck to that bandit, so that he could not be saved and for us to intervene?]

[Yes, yes, but now?]

[We wait.]

[Wait? Are you not going to comment on his moment of berserk rage?]

[What is there to say, it is not like I did not foresee any kind of problems.]

[Even this?]

[---.]

[So you did not. What are we going to do? If we let this unquestioned for a long time, it might become a prob—]

[Isn’t this your fucking specialty, stop asking questions and do something too. It's your fault we are stuck with him.]

But while the mad voices were arguing with one another about little Levis's mental health, another one was more preoccupied with the physical one, as the pale-looking village chief was shaking him with one hand as he was using the other to sustain himself despite being on his knees.

“Levis! Levis! Levis!”

But his numerous attempts to awake the child were useless, as the same placid look was still on the blood-stained boy that was holding a small dagger in his left hand. However, after numerous attempts of calling his name and shaking him failed, the resounding sound of the slap echoed for a brief moment before drowning in the noisy sea of howls and screams from the defending villagers and the attacking bandits.

But to the unexpected arguing voices, the simple slap from the middle-aged man had made the overall jumbled consciousness of the boy stop and begin to reorder itself, as the first word came out of his struggling face

“Y–yy-yes.”--[Yes.]

But as he finally gave a response, easing the worries of the man before him, as he gave a sigh, before reorganizing his facial expression.

“You finely came to yourself.”

[Kid, what the hell was that?]

“What?”--[What?]

“What were you thinking? Why have you gone out there like that?”

[WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT! HAVE YOU GONE MAD? I WAS ALMOST READY TO KILL EVERYBODY!]

“What? What are you talking about— what happened?”-[What? What are you talking about? What happened?]

“Don’t you remember?”

[Don’t you remember? Ahhh, this is getting stupid, we’ll talk later when we are alone.]

But as the village chief looked carefully at Levis’s lost expression at his words, he sighed again as he looked at the boy in kindness while stroking his hair.

“No need to worry, just some minor inconveniences.”

However, while the man was stroking his hair, as he was in confusion as to why he was there and was about to ask the voice inside his head, a particular scent hit him, as he begin to take deep intakes of air as the transformed part of his lungs begin to automatically refine the energy taken.

[What is this smell? And is there more energy in the air?]

[That is—!]

[Hmmm, that little soldier boy has some good things for his rank. However, kid, you can take all the energy you want, but you are forgetting about the other critical things.]

[What thi—!?]

But while he was engrossed in the absorption of denser than usual energy in the air, the hand that was mechanically stroking his hair, slowly begin to slide down as all of a sudden it hit his shoulder as the man fell face first to the ground.

And as Levis open his eye to see the disturbance he had felt, the sight of the collapsed village chief with a bloodied back, as a massive cut was onto his slashed back.

“VILLAGE CHIEF!!!”

But as he was trying to help him by impulse and shock, two pairs of hands, embrace him, as two women arrive at the half-dead kneeling village chief as they immediately tried to stop the bleeding, after which they began to carry him from the front location of the formation on their shoulders while his feet were dragging long and bloodied lines on the ground.

At the same time the pair of hands that had embraced him, was that of a third woman that had begun to carry him, while making way for the two others as they escape the formation of the men, as they arrived at the back of the formation where a large number of women were either inspecting or treating some of the injured men.

Though, as the bloodied village chief arrived, many more women came, as they alarmed the most experienced ones to look at him, for his injuries were not at all light.

However, one particular middle-aged lady, came faster after she saw the little boy and the half-dead man.

“Levis? What happened?!”

“Aunty Healer, I-I don’t know, village chief, he—.!”

“Take him inside the tent! If you are not injured stay here. Someone will look at you, after that go to the others!”

But as the middle-aged lady that was the Down River village apprentice of his grandma, and one of the most skilled in the art of healing here gave orders to the others, she did not look at the boy who she had left, as she enter the tent to treat the village chief that was in critical conditions.

Whereas the little boy stood there with his fists close to his chest in panic as he had no idea of what had happened, as the last memory he had was that of the jumping Rowen and the beginning of his massacre, as he himself stood on a log of the tall wall, as he was hiding and watching the battle between the guards and bandits.

[What happened? Why is the village chief injured?]

But just as he was asking the voices if they knew what happen and why he couldn't remember anything after, the shouting of many villagers came to him as a large commotion was happening on their side as he could not see clearly.

[Befoure I tell you what happened, you better send some energy and stimulate your small parts to your left hand and heal yourself.]

Just as the voice spoke, he looked at his bloodied left hand, which was holding a small dagger covered in blood. But the part in between his thumb and index had been cut after his hand had slipped from all the blood and slid onto the blade.

But as he took a look he left the dagger to fall as he was in an even bigger confusion, yet he had no choice but to follow the instructions as energy circulated in his left hand.

[Good. Now, you don’t remember anything?]

[No.]

[Hmmm, alright—.]

[---]

[What happened? Why are you silent.]

[Are your last memories standing on the fence log?]

[Yes.]

[Well, after that you’ve moved down, sneak past the villagers, killed the bandit that stabbed your grandma, then that man came to rescue you, but you were still gripping him so I hit your consciousness slightly so that he could take you, then the other soldier boy came, but your village chief sill had his back cut, after that, we came back into the formation and you came back to your senses.]

[WHAT!? I don’t remember anything!]

But as he heard the brief sequence of events from the voice, panic took him as he could not recall anything.

[Are you sure?]

[Kid. Does the blood, that is all over you, looks like it had come from your hand injury?]

[This—!]

However, panic, anxiety, and fear were drowning him as the voice had talked about him killing a bandit like it was of no importance.

But just as his face was becoming a mess after the full events that were happening one after another, a lady came to him as she gave him a full body inspection to find wounds or injuries, but to no avail, as there was nothing on his body to indicate so. However if one was to scrub his left hand from all the blood, one could easily see the sign of newly grown skin.

“You are all good, there is no wound to be seen on you, you go to the others in the center of the camp.”

However just as the lady left him, shout’s and loud screams of celebrations came from the villagers nearby as well from the outside of the camp, as it seemed that the battle was over.
