Chapter 8: New discoveries

Finding himself in limbo, and making a deal a human-sized imp.

How laughable!

If this was one of those novels he read during his free time, he would have cursed the main character through the screen of his phone for making such a stupid mistake.

After all, a template appearing out of thin air should have been a giveaway that this was something much more supernatural.

But his chest quickly tightened as he suddenly remembered his little brother and both his parents. He prayed in his heart for their well-being, as he wasn't sure if the magnitude of the earthquake and the strange screen that appeared out of thin air was only experienced by him.

He didn't know if his assumptions were correct but he was sure of something, and although it made him feel that everything was connected with the 'CASTATROPHE', the earthquake and even the strange template.

But that doesn't matter, because all he wished for was for his family to be safe, especially his little brother since he was still unconscious from the beginning when all this started.

At least he had a goal, and that was to bring the heads of the 9 overlords that guards the gates of hell to Deltrich.

At least he had something to start with, if not, he wasn't even sure where he would begin. But with this being his goal and his family back home being his motivation, he had something to drive him to accomplish his task.

"Haaaa.. don't worry guys I will make my way to find you as soon as I am done with this" he silently proclaimed that in his heart, Elijah felt the urge to accomplish his task immediately, but alias he knew it wouldn't be that easy.

Elijah suddenly remembered that he had no information of where he was, and all he knew right now was that he was currently in the Underworld. He didn't even know if the 'Hell' he knew of, was the 'Hell' that currently existed.

He needed information. Suddenly remembering the book he was given by Deltrich, he quickly searched his memories finding a way to use the book.

Elijah had already rested for an hour and had digested how to use the book, sent a command with his mind. Although it looked quite easy, Elijah was trying to send a mental command to the golden book in his heart.

A bright flash of light could be seen, and a book could be found in Elijah's hand.

This scene was something Elijah couldn't help but be mesmerized, looking at the book in his hand which was trimmed with gold, and with silver which decorated the cover to the back.

Elijah opened the book only to discover that the pages were blank but that wasn't of any concern to him as he already knew how to get the information he needed and all he had to do was ask.

…....….

30 minutes later

A boy no less than nineteen could be seen lying unconscious on the hard cold surface of the ground with a book that floated on the air giving it an aura of uniqueness.

…....

Elijah was about to access the information given to him by the golden book, he was too confident in his ability, deciding to completely assimilate the book whole forgoing the consequences.

He only needed to ask the golden book about specific information that he needed and the answers would suddenly appear on its blank pages, it was his choice if he wanted to assimilate that knowledge into his own. Passing a command from his mind to the golden book, he suddenly felt a great rush of information, one that caused him a great deal amount of pain that he never thought he could experience.

He felt his head splitting and tearing as though thousands of needles were been embedded in his brain.

Truth be told, Elijah had already started feeling pain not even a normal human could survive from. Then suddenly a bright light flew out from the book and shone directly on Elijah.

...…....

PRESENT

Elijah was terrified after almost experiencing death from the pain he had gone through. He felt that the only way for him to gain the information he needed was to just ask the book directly, going through them on its blank pages. But he didn't want to go through the golden book any time he needed answers, so he had to move on to plan B, which is absorbing these pieces of information little by little, not wanting to experience that painful situation again.

A valuable piece of knowledge can be a weapon, but what happens if that weapon isn't yours?

It's simple! You make it yours.

But the deed had already being done, Elijah felt as though his head was filled with enough information to understand his current situation.

According to information Elijah had gotten, the underworld was currently ruled by devils.

Yes, devils!

He of all people couldn't believe it either, and how there could be devils in the underworld. But if the underworld and hell existed then there must be a connection.

But in this case, there weren't those spine-chilling visages with long horns and black bat-like wings, with each possessing grotesque appearances. Instead, they looked normal, like every normal being he had met. If he hadn't known first-hand that they weren't humans, then he would have been long deceived by their appearance.

But still, the fact they looked like humans was something he could still swallow, afterall a lot of mythical creatures took on the humanoid form, although not fully.

The underworld was all there was on these lands, stretching as far as the eyes could see. One would guess that the underworld was in an entirely different world of its own, which was strictly composed of itself.

Due to the numerous inhabitants of the underworld, it looked like a thriving civilization, while still in an age where one would call it the survival of the fittest.
