Chapter 5: Limbo

Chapter 5: Limbo

And here he was, feeling almost terrified from what he had seen, but that wasn't what left Elijah to express a look of horror. But, the fact that the doll was currently looking at him with a disturbing smile that seemed to cause his soul to stretch, and at the same time, her pen kept moving almost instinctively on a blank piece of paper as though her eyes never left the pages but at the same time, those pages fell off the table and landed on the ground with more appearing beside her.

Her eyes were lifeless and her lips were patched, her small mouth with fair skin and her eyebrows seemed so full and natural-looking. Surely everything thing from her expression to her face seemed so lifelike.

''h….e…llo….." a croak but melodious voice which looked like its only job was to drive Elijah insane was what broke the silence.

That was the last straw, Elijah couldn't take it anymore and run for his life. He fled to the other side of the hallway, but unfortunately, as he reached the stairs he slipped, causing him to fall to the other side with his back facing an open window, he fell while thinking if this was the end, thinking if this was all his life could amount to.

Well with everything happening lately, one could say Elijah's luck was the worst of the worst.

Elijah closed his eyes as he waited for the feeling of his bones been broken by the impact of crashing on the hard bare ground waiting to be kissed by death. But seconds turned to minutes and minutes turned to more minutes but Elijah still hasn't felt the ground underneath his body.

Instead, he felt strangely balanced in the air, opening his eyes to look at his surroundings. Elijah potted the foggy smoke-like clouds that covered the environment, how the sky looked dark but still gave light, and lands that looked like it had suffered from centuries of drought and famine. But all those were none of Elijah's concerns as the only thing that covered his vision was the sight of him being held up by an imp.

Yes, an imp.

Those little creatures said to come in form of a fairy or a demon.

Those little fiends said to cause mischief and mayhem everywhere it went.

Oh shit! How troublesome, is waiting for the comfort of death so challenging that he had to be confronted by an imp.

Elijah felt like crying from the deepest part of his heart, still wondering when he was abandoned by lady luck, after all the creature in front of him wasn't just an ordinary imp.

Yes, it wasn't those little fiends he thought of, but instead, it stood as tall a grown man. Looking into its slanted eyes, Elijah saw it contained a tint of curiosity and mischievousness. Not bothering to say a word and waited for the imp to talk, not because he was afraid but because he was trying not to say anything that will curse his luck any further.

Fortunately, he didn't have to wait longer, because the creature smiled in amusement, opening its mouth that seemed to be filled with razor-sharp teeth.

''What brings a human to my territory?"

''Let me rephrase that, how did you get here?" the imp said, as he looked like he was currently thinking about something.

Elijah didn't seem to hear the question that had been asked by imp, as he was currently studying the Imp from head to toe while wondering if Alice in wonderland was real and he's trapped in there because none of these makes any sense.

''Can you not understand my language? how did you get here human?" The imp said as he thought he wasn't correctly speaking the language Elijah could understand.

However, that seemed to do the trick, as Elijah was snapped out from his thought.

'' A…n…..dra'' Elijah understanding the question the imp had asked choose to respond and say the name of the person who sent him here, since the giant told him its name. Though he still hesitated, since he doesn't fully understand the situation tthat he's basically in.

''Oh Andra the gatekeeper is it, but he's a busy man, so how does he have the time to send a mortal much less a human to Limbo''. The imp said as it interrogated Elijah while scrunching its bulking eyebrows trying to make sense of the situation.

''I don't know'' Elijah truthfully responded while shaking his head.

''Hmmmm''

Elijah saw that the imp was currently lost in its thought, but choose not to disturb it even though he was still caught at the throat with its hands.

Using this chance to get a proper look at the environment, Elijah had come to an understanding that a giant called 'Andra' had thrown him into wherever the hell this is, and from what he understood it could have been worst.

However, the imp was lost in its thought too. 'Was that why I felt the appearance of so many portals in my dimension'.

'How troublesome, I want to know what's happening up there' He felt a headache coming on, with a deep foreboding that a terrible storm was brewing. Or has it already started?

"So how about making a deal with me boy" looking straight at Elijah's eyes, the imp said, as it looked like was contemplating over some things.

'A deal' was the only words that resounded in Elijah's head, a deal with an imp. Forget about the latter even keeping his part of the deal, he wasn't even sure if had anything to make a deal with.

After all, the only property he owned was a collection of books and a bicycle, and he was sure that even that was lying in a pile of rubble. He was sure it was already lying deep underground, much less trying to bargain with it.

As if the imp could see the struggle in Elijah's eyes, its lips formed a crooked smile, further showing its sharp rigid teeth's.

"Don't worry boy"

"It seems I haven't introduced myself," the imp said widening the smile on its face.

"I am Deltrich, 'he who bears the Principality of knowledge"
