Chapter 30

We spent the next week going back and forth between the earth dungeon and Heaven using the gate. Our efforts were worth it though, we’d managed to get enough iron ore to equip everyone with a weapon.

I wasn’t satisfied with that but wasn’t going to harp on it. Once everyone had what they needed I was going to send a few gathering teams there to continue the collection. The only reason we didn’t continue was because Emmy was getting tired of not being able to use her glass and blood magic like she wanted. She even complained that she wanted me to find a proper healer, so she didn’t have to continue using her blood magic for healing.

After listening to her complain for a few days we decided it was time to move on to the beast dungeon. Now that some time had passed, I wanted to see what the outfits the tailor designed for me looked like anyways. So, we headed back to Heaven after collecting our last round of gems and ore.

I have to say Anko, the tailor, was gifted at what she did. These outfits were amazing. They were a subtle mix of eastern and tribal ware. Fur tufts poking out of the Leather shoulder pads and wrists guards, same with the boots. The shirt was sleeveless and made from the iron cloth we harvested from the red petals. It was dyed black and was stretchy, form fitting, and surprisingly soft and warm. The pants were made of the same material but made to be a looser fit with plenty of pockets, colored a deep green. A leather belt with plenty of pouches and bags for potions and other necessities. A cloak made of the same material and dyed the same green as the pants, the inside lined with the same fur. Finally, a pair of gloves made of iron cloth and fur dyed black.

“Wow Anko. This… This is amazing. You designed this yourself? You have some serious talent.” I said to her honestly.

Bowing deeply, she said, “I used your combat styles as the base for my design. Followed by my visual interpretation of Heaven. I’m truly glad you like it my lord. Now that it’s done would you let me know how it performs in combat. I’ve also added some enchantments to the material in several different places. With quite a few different effects.”

“You enchanted it too?! Wow. Um… Yeah, I’d be happy to test it and give you the results. What should I keep an eye out for?” I asked her.

She then handed me a list of all the enchantments she’d put on the outfit, where they were located, and how they were supposed to function. I was impressed with how thorough she was. Taking the paper, I read over it while I made my way back to the group.

“Also let the hunters know that now that I have a design worked out, come and see me about getting some proper armor, disguised as fashionable clothes.” she shouted to me as I walked away.

Upon my arrival everyone stood up from their seats looking me over. They all circled around me inspecting every bit of the outfit.

“Damn dude. Those are some nice ass clothes.” Whisper said to my surprise, he rarely uses vulgar language.

“Wow. With clothes that nice I might actually wear some.” Pan said laughing and slapping my back.

“No fair. I want some new clothes. Do you think Anko will make me some before we leave?” Emmy asked, clearly looking jealous at the new, well-made outfit.

Holding my hands up in surrender, “Hey now Slow down. Anko said to send everybody her way. Now about getting a new outfit before we leave. I don’t know, you’ll have to ask her. I’m willing to wait a couple days if necessary but no more than that. We really need the food, and I don’t want to over hunt the local wildlife.”

They set off without another word. Excited to get some new gear that looked quite a bit better than what we were using before. I have a feeling we’ll need to add quite a few dyes to our growing list of things we need to stock.

While the crew was visiting Anko I decided to walk around and see what everybody was doing. I was passing by Rok’s workstation when I saw Shadow holding some gold coins in his hand. Tightly wedged between his fingers they morphed into long golden needles. My eyes went wide in shock.

“Shadow!” I called out to him, “Where did you get that metal and how did you do that?”

Seeing me calling out to him he waved, “Good day my lord and this trick is made possible with goblin’s gold. You see, unlike normal gold, Goblin’s gold is soft like clay, but it’s still made of metal. It reacts strongly to magical energy as you can see. Normally only our shamans use the stuff. Making ceremonial daggers and trinkets with it. I’d been wondering if it could be put to better use. So, I asked Rok here to test it out a bit for me. He said he still has a lot of testing to do but he said that it’s fun to work with and has some potential. Though he also said that it’s incredibly difficult to enchant so I doubt it’ll be mass produced into something we can all use.”

I scratched my chin in thought for a while before deciding to leave it alone for now. I’ll let the people most involved come up with something on their own. I’ll probably be 100 times more creative than whatever I could come up with anyways.

“Oh Shadow, Rok. Before I forget, go see Anko about some new clothes. She says she finished her design. I’m her prototype, also don’t forget to tell Bushda. I’m sure she’s itching to get into some proper clothes and let me know if you guys come up with something interesting with the goblin’s gold.” I said to them as I walked away.

Once I left there I decided to head to the alchemist’s workshop. On my way I noticed that it was unlike where my house is. This area was packed with people. Everyone running from place to place in a hurry. Couriers pick up materials from the storehouse and take them to the craftsman to be turned into something new. Hunters getting their equipment repaired or replaced while chatting amongst themselves. I also noticed that thought there were a lot of goblins. They were seeming to get their weapons made to fit a larger body and some even refused to have their equipment repaired until they evolved into Oni.

Same with the craftsman. A lot of double workstations were visible from where I stood. One for their current size while there was an identical one right next to it. Clearly made for a creature nearly 3 times their current size. It was exciting to see everyone work so hard. It reminded me of why I enjoyed watching my worlds so much. I needed to stop the counsel, or they would eventually find a way to consume my universe and destroy all of this creativity. I couldn’t allow that to happen.

I walked into the shop where the elderly elf was sitting behind a counter mixing powders into bowls and cauldrons set up all along one of his counters. While on the counters were various raw materials set up on sheets of cloth or paper. Prepared to be converted into powders and oils. I saw antlers, scales, furs, barks, rocks, and so much more.

Mumbling aloud to himself, the man said to me without even turning around, “can’t you see I’m busy. If you need potions you need to either get permission from Lord Savas or one of the higher ups. Or you can wait until the next delivery time. Currently I’m brewing 10 cauldrons of potions for healing right now. I’m also experimenting with a few ideas I had that would make it, so you guys need less potions while you’re out gathering. So, if you could please get the hell’s out of here. I would greatly appreciate it.”

Taking no offense to the harsh words of a crafter engrossed in a project while under pressure to produce more products. To do so would be hypocritical of me.

“Oh, forgive me. I’ll return when you have more time on your hands but if you could send one of those cauldrons worth of potions to the Lord's manor. I would very much appreciate it.” I said, attempting to turn around and walk out.

Before I could make my way out of the door, I’d just walked in. A hand snaked its way around my wrist, pulling me deeper into the lab.

“My Lord! Look. Look at this specimen. I’m calling…”

“Oh, a pill. What does it do?” I said, interrupting him.

Irritation flashed in his eyes for a moment before he realized he was still excited.

“I call these vitality pills my lord. I want you to test them in the field for me. I also have pills of defense and pills of strength.” he said placing wooden cases into my arms, “These are far cheaper to produce than a standard potion that does the same thing would. Each case has 10 pills of its kind. Test them with your party and let me know the results if you would. I’ll also send over the potions you requested. Now if you don’t mind my lord, I’m a very busy man.”
