Eden no Ori chapter 11-2

On Lee's side:

Lee proceeded to climb the stairs to the second floor, passing by the lifeless bodies of the men who had met their gruesome end. As he ascended, he collected their belts, thinking they might come in handy.

Upon reaching the second floor, Lee scanned his surroundings, searching for the nearest window. He approached it cautiously, peering out to observe the chaotic scene below. Hordes of animals were converging on the building, their numbers increasing by the minute as the scent of blood drew them in from the surrounding woods.

Lee's gaze finally settled on the parking lot situated to the left of the building. He estimated it would take him approximately five minutes to reach the lot on foot, the exact time he had instructed the others to hold off the animals. However, there was an added concern – he would need to return to them afterward, consuming even more time. As he pondered the situation, he couldn't help but think about life's unfinished business, including his desire for a real girlfriend.

To address the challenge, Lee ingeniously fashioned a makeshift rope by tying the collected belts together. He securely fastened one end to the window and tossed the other end out. Satisfied that the tied belts had landed safely, he nodded in approval before making his descent.

After thirty seconds of descending, Lee landed on the ground and began moving quietly toward the parking lot, conscious of not attracting the attention of any stray animals.

lee landed on the ground and start walking slowly to the parking lot [i have to be quiet to not attract the attention of the stray animals here]

Three minutes later

Lee found himself only two hundred meters away from the parking lot, his goal tantalizingly close. However, a crunching sound underfoot – broken glass – shattered the silence.

Lee immediately recognized his mistake, cursing inwardly. He thought, "Shit."

Two nearby wolves perked up at the sound of the breaking glass, their heads turning sharply in Lee's direction. Realizing he had been detected, Lee sprinted toward the parking lot, discarding all concern for noise. The wolves barked loudly, alerting the nearby animals.

The wolves began closing in on Lee, rapidly reducing the distance between them. Lee reached out and seized the head of one of the wolves, smashing it forcefully against the ground. A sickening crunch followed as the wolf's skull shattered.

"Kill wild wolf. Gain 5 points," the system's notification sounded.

Lee continued his mad dash forward, just two hundred meters away from the safety of the parking lot.

Suddenly, a roar echoed, and a massive figure appeared in the narrow space between vehicles. It resembled a tiger but was markedly different – larger, standing at 120 cm (47 in) in height, with brown-yellow fur. The most distinguishing feature was its enormous upper canines, a characteristic of the Smilodon, also known as the saber-toothed tiger.

Lee cursed his bad luck, thinking, "Shit."

The saber-toothed tiger leaped toward him, but Lee managed to evade the attack, allowing it to pass him by. However, the beast was fast, quickly closing the gap between them.

Lee thought, "I didn't want to use it here, but I don't have a choice." He reached into his pocket and retrieved a grenade, which he had picked up earlier from a dead body. He had originally thought it might prove useful, and now was the time. He hurled the grenade at the saber-toothed tiger, and it exploded with a deafening boom.

Fire consumed the fearsome predator, and its agonized howls pierced the air. It tried desperately to extinguish the flames but failed, and its cries grew weaker.

"Kill Smilodon (Saber-Toothed Tiger). Gain 50 points," the system reported.

With the immediate threat neutralized, Lee resumed his sprint, now just ten meters from the safety of a truck.

"Almost there," Lee thought as he raced toward the vehicle.

Suddenly, another saber-toothed tiger appeared and rammed into the door of the truck.

"Shit! Where are the keys?" Lee frantically searched for the keys inside the truck.

He found them in the glove compartment and quickly inserted the key into the ignition. With the engine roared to life, Lee drove the truck toward the building.

Oscar's Perspective:

Oscar couldn't help but feel that an eternity had passed since Lee had gone upstairs. He glanced ahead, witnessing the relentless onslaught of animals pouring in through the building's entrance.

He thought to himself, "I've killed over a dozen wolves and wild boars, but there are still these bears, tigers, and the Diatryma birds. They keep coming in, and no matter how many I kill, more just keep replacing them."

It had been more than ten minutes since he, Ira, and Jan had joined the fray, but Lee had yet to return.

Oscar looked at his own blood-soaked and battered body, feeling the strain on his exhausted muscles. "I pushed my body beyond its limits, but I don't know how much longer I can last in this situation," he mused.

Checking on Ira and Jan, he saw that Jan was covered in blood, with small injuries dotting her body. Her vest had taken the brunt of the damage, torn and battered. Despite her valiant efforts, she was a normal girl who had recently entered the realm, and the fighting had clearly taken a toll on her.

Ira, while in better shape than Jan, was also showing signs of fatigue. She wielded two guns expertly, shooting animals as they entered the building while simultaneously protecting Jan. The concentration required to hit each animal's vital points while ensuring Jan's safety was taking a toll on her. At one point, she had even broken through her mental and physical limits to save Jan from a sneak attack by two tigers.

But even with these heroic efforts, Ira was not satisfied. Her ammunition was running low, and the animals kept flooding in.

Oscar smiled grimly, thinking, "They're both holding their own for now, but I don't know how much longer we can hold out against this horde. Lee, you need to hurry."
