Eden no Ori chapter 10-2

Lee, Ira, and Jan finally grasped what Oscar had gone through.

Oscar looked at Lee, Ira, and Jan and said, "Thank you guys for showing up here out of nowhere."

Suddenly, Lee remembered something and turned his head to look at the doctor. "So, doc, why do we have to hurry again?"

The doctor swore under his breath, realizing he had forgotten something important. "Shit, I forgot about the birds."

Jan questioned, "Birds? What birds are you talking about?"

"Cwooack!" A loud sound echoed through the room.

The doctor pointed forward at three large birds and said, "Those birds."

These enormous birds stood at a height of about 2 1/4 meters (7 feet). They had brown feathers, small wings, and massive, powerful legs. Their heads were large, supporting substantial beaks as they entered the room.

Jan looked worried and exclaimed, "Shit, how could you forget about these freaking big birds?"

The doctor replied, "Let's not dwell on that; I forgot, okay? But now is not the time to be angry at me."

Oscar asked, "How did these birds get in?"

The doctor replied in frustration, "I seriously don't understand how they managed to get in. We blocked the entrance to the clinic with many large tables and chairs to prevent animals from getting inside."

Ira suggested, "Wait, you say these are birds, right? So they probably flew in through open windows."

Unauthorized tale usage: if you spot this story on Amazon, report the violation.

Lee studied the birds and agreed, "You're probably right, Ira. But given the small size of their wings, they can't fly too high. And those massively constructed legs could give them strength and speed, making them a problem."

Oscar spoke in a serious tone, "We have to deal with these three birds quickly. The doctors and nurses don't have much strength left after the fight against the wolves. They'll be easy targets for the birds if we don't do something to stop them."

Oscar ran toward one of the big birds and swung the fire axe with both hands, aiming for the bird's long neck.

"Cwooack!" The sound of pain emanated from the bird as the fire axe slashed deeply into its neck, causing blood to drip profusely. The bird was surprised by the attack and attempted to retaliate, but Oscar didn't give it a chance. He pulled a syringe from his left pocket and injected it into the bird's left, defenseless eye.

The bird that received the injection slowed down, giving Oscar an opportunity to jump aside. The bird noticed and moved toward Oscar's new location to attack him, but the serum took effect, causing the bird to move more slowly until it finally stopped moving.

A few seconds later, the bird fell to the ground, and Oscar received a familiar system notice that he had killed a Diatryma and earned 30 points.

"Cwooack!"

The other two birds moved quickly to attack Oscar from both directions. Oscar grabbed his axe and hurled it hard at one of the birds. The axe struck the bird in the middle of its head, causing blood and brain matter to spatter out. Oscar heard the familiar system notice but paid it no attention. He turned to face the last remaining bird, but he didn't need to do anything more.

Oscar noticed that Lee was gripping the bird's beak tightly with his left hand, preventing it from escaping. The bird struggled to free itself from Lee's grasp, but Lee's grip was too strong. After a few seconds, the eyes of the large bird met Lee's, and the bird sensed the danger.

The bird felt like mighty prey being observed by a formidable predator. Overwhelmed by fear, the bird no longer cared about the people surrounding it; it simply wanted to escape from the dangerous man. Unfortunately for the bird, Lee refused to let go.

Suddenly, Lee swiftly moved and delivered a powerful punch with his right hand to the bird's face.

For a few moments, silence reigned.

Lee released his left hand, which had been gripping the bird's beak.

The bird fell heavily to the ground.

No one knew its condition – whether it was still alive or dead.
