Yuna wakes up with the heavy bass of last night still playing back in her head. She thought her night was going to be ruined when they ran into that girl but she was surprisingly enjoying herself. That show was the last place she thought she would run into Elise. Dubstep doesn’t even come close to the music a girl like that would listen to.
She gets up to tie her hair up and puts on the baggy pants she wore the night before. Yuna sweated quite a bit so she decides to put on a clean shirt. It’s oversized and hangs a bit long so it just past the waist. It’s baggy enough to cover her breasts but her sports bra already does that job well enough. Next, she hangs three long necklaces over her shoulders and puts on her favorite cap. It’s a bit childish but it has devil horns on top.
Yuna heads to the bathroom to check if she remembers to take off her eyeshadow. She did. The girl twirls around to check if anything is missing then coughs to deepen her voice. It’s Saturday so she gets to be Yuele again.
Nothing makes her happier.
Yuele runs out of his room to leave his apartment as soon as possible but is stopped by his father. “Not even gonna have breakfast?”
“That’s where I’m going right now.”
His father sighs, “Where and with who?”
Yuele rolls his eyes because the answer never changes. “With Grace and at Kat’s Cafe.”
“Yuele, when was the last time you had breakfast with us?”
Yuele puts on his shoes by the front door and says, “I don’t know. When was the last time Mom spoke to me?”
“She speaks to you all the time.”
“Not when I’m me.”
“Yuele, Yuna, what difference does it make? She just wants you to stop dressing like a boy.”
Yuele grins and opens the door, “I’ll be back before sunset!” then shuts the door.
He lives up high in an apartment in downtown Seattle. The elevator ride down takes a while so Yuele uses the time to text Grace that he’s on his way. Grace just responds with an emoji. When the doors open, Yuele jogs out of the building and then runs down the street.
The way to the cafe requires going downhill so it’s hard to slow down when running. Yuele never does anyways and he turns the corner at a full sprint. It’s never been a problem as he always looks before turning. Today, he’s distracted by the events of last night and he slams into a girl carrying a cup of coffee. It spills everywhere and drenches them both. Yuele catches himself on his hands with his small body over the girl on her back.
“Watch where-” he stops himself he hears his real voice. What are the chances? He thinks when realizes who he just ran into. “Watch where you’re going,” he finishes as deeply as he can without it sounding too unnatural.
Elise herself can’t believe it either.
Yuele gets up and wipes himself off as best as he can. “What’s the hurry?” he jokes and extends his hand to pick Elise up.
“You’re the one who ran into me!” Elise complains but accepts the offer anyways. “Yuele, right?”

“The one and only.”
“You owe me a drink,” Elise looks down at herself and bites her lips at the thought of having to wash her new top and jacket.
“Make it a date?” Yuele jokes again.
Elise blushes.
In truth, Yuele finds it funny that Elise doesn’t recognize him. He doesn’t think he looks that different from when he dresses as Yuna for school. It’s why he was staring at her last night. He wanted to know if Elise recognized him but she never once hinted at it.
It’s not a big secret that Yuele is Yuna. Or at least he doesn’t think so. He doesn’t exactly hide it but he comes to school as Yuna and no one there has seen him as Yuele. Only his closest friend and family know. He might not get along with his mom anymore, but he’s grateful for the Japanese genes she gave him that allow him to be both genders.
“Is that a yes?”
“Ew, no. Like I’ll ever be into you.”
Yuele smiles, amused.
He’s known Elise since middle school. He’s never liked her. She always hung around the popular crowd; the preps and jocks. Elise always came to school flaunting her daddy’s money like it makes her important. She’s just the type of girl who uses her looks to get whatever she wants. She listens to only pop and what’s popular. She follows the crowds. Elise is bland, she’s boring and has no personality.
At least that’s what Yuele thinks.
Now that Ellise has met him as Yuele, he can fuck with her. He sees the instant attraction Elise has towards him. It’ll be fun to get her to like him just so he can crush her heart. She deserves it anyways.
“You’re kind of mean,” he laughs.
“Well, you’re treating me like I’m easy.”
There are a lot of things Yuele wants to say, instead, he says, “I’m just nervous.”
Elise sighs and looks into Yuele’s eyes for the time since they ran into each other. Now that they’re out in daylight, there’s something off about him. Elise can’t place her finger on it. Maybe it's weird seeing a half Asian guy look a tad feminine. Or like she’s seen him somewhere before. “Well I still want my coffee, I’m still tired from last night.”
“You’re in luck, I was going to get some anyways.”
“Care to clean my clothes too?”
“Don’t push it,” Yuele chuckles. He takes Elise to Kat’s Cafe which is just two blocks away from his apartment. He hopes Grace isn’t already there waiting. She’ll keep Elise around longer than Yuele would like. Luckily, his wish comes through.
“I've never been here, is it any good?”
Yuele shrugs, “Find out yourself.” He inserts his card into the machine once Elise orders and moves over to the waiting area. He leans against the counter once Elise joins him.
“How old are you?”
“Eighteen. You?”
“Same, but I’m still in high school. I graduate in two months.”
Elise doesn’t pay attention when Yuele rolls his eyes. Yeah, I know. We’re in too many classes together, dumbass. “Must be nice.” There’s silence until the barista calls for Elise. “We square?”
The coffee is much better than Elise was expecting. Its sweet taste almost makes her ignore Yuele. “Hmm? Oh, yeah. Thanks. Don’t run when you turn a corner next time.”
“Debt repaid, off you go,” Yuele motions his arm towards the exit.
Elise doesn’t find it as amusing as he does. “Dude, what’s your problem? I haven’t done anything to you to act like such a dick to me.”
There’s no difference in personality between Yuele and Yuna. He’s treating Elise the same as he would when he’s Yuna. Maybe it’ll be better if I pretend to actually like her, he thinks. If he actually wants to mess with her he should hide the fact that he’s Yuna as much as possible. “Right, you’re right. I’m sorry.”
Elise scratches the back of her head. She wasn’t actually expecting an apology. “Well, I do have to go anyways. Thanks again for the coffee. I’ll see you around?”
Too soon for my liking. “Maybe. Don’t lose your glamor.”
Yuele watches her leave. She’s just as annoying as she is in school. He should have asked her what she was doing in the area. It’s odd for someone from the school to be Downtown this early. It was odd enough that they ran into each other last night. Who would take her to a show and just ditch her like that? Serves her right. I guess the rumors of her always going on dates is true, such a whore.
It’s going to be fun making her fall in love with me.
