Chapter 17 : Gains

Chapter 17 : Gains

"I will take this from you as compensation for trying to harm me." Enjar let go of Kail and kicked him on the backside of his head. He turned around and started to walk, while still bringing the sword in his hand, including its scabbard.

Kail's face went forward, almost hitting the ground if not for his hands holding the pressure coming from the kick. His face was distorted and looked ugly. His heart was beating fast, his breathing was erratic, and his fists were clenched so hard that he almost pierced his hands from the nails on his fingers.

This humiliation! He felt that he would never reconcile with this vile man unless he killed him with his own hands! His body was trembling from the anger and shame that had been projected onto him. He glanced back and glared on Enjar's departing back with deep hatred inside of his eyes. He tried to stand up and chase after Enjar before the man with a mustache stopped him abruptly.

"We should not, young master. It's not working according to the plan for the most part, but for the crucial part it somehow worked. He took that scroll and I 100% believe that he will leave this city soon. At that time, we can renege our revenge on him and you can pay him 200% back of the things that he had done to the Gril family and you. Be patient!" The man with the mustache said.

His name was Tubin, one of the main guards of the Gril family. He was tasked by the leader of the family to take care of Kail and protect him with any danger that might befall onto him. His main priority was to protect Kail, and for this mission he had been tasked to accompany Kail to proceed with the plan that they had concocted.

Seeing the situation now, it seemed that it was not in their best interest to mess with him now. For as long as he took the scroll, then the core of the plan was put into motion and his mission for 'delivering' this scroll was at least achieved, though they did not get anything in return. But he did not care, he only cared about the core of the mission and to hell with the surpluses if the risk was not even worth the struggle.

Tubin concluded that going against Enjar right now was not in their favor. Sure, they can attack him again even though they might even win against him. They had numbers after all, and if he tried it again he might be able to apprehend him. He was caught off guard and did not know Enjar's ability, he never knew that he could fight like that. But the biggest problem is the public.

They did not expect this situation. They had intended to surround him and bring him to an isolated space to beat him to teach him some kind of a lesson, to harm him physically and mentally. But they did not expect Enjar to be able to fight against them head on like this, even turning the situation into his favor.

But now if they did it like this in a public place, then Enjar could get some help from the bystanders. True that they were at least from a pretty well known family, but deep inside their heart there was a fear that if the public went against them, then they would face a bigger problem.

Enjar was known as a person who achieved big things in a very short time, even when he was a person that came out of nowhere into this city. This was an information that only some knew, but this truly baffled them. He became pretty much successful seemingly without bringing a single penny.

Rumors were going to spread around, and the public opinion about the Gril family would then plummet. It would not only affect their relationship toward the lower classes, but also toward the higher classes. Image was a very crucial face for the nobles after all. Nobles were called nobles because they were supposed to act noble, right?

If he somehow was able to entice the surrounding people to support him, then the situation was going to get even worse. He did not want to risk it. So the best option for him to do now was to stop it for today and go back. This was Enjar who was called a genius after all! A wrong step and mishap would probably bite them back in the most unexpected way.

The plan was for them to beat him up and show him who had more power. They wanted to give him the intimidation that they wanted Enjar to fall. The worst that they could think of was that Enjar was able to fend off against them, but at least Enjar could feel the fear and had the apprehensive attitude toward them so that Enjar could be controlled easily by them. He truly dealt them a blow before, so they needed to teach him a lesson or two to make him realize his positions. But Enjar exceeded their expectation and easily took the scroll without even paying a penny.

After that, they would then try to negotiate with Enjar about the scroll, and use any means to entice Enjar into getting the scroll to be in his hands. Of course, it was all by the means of Enjar paying the price for it. The best was that Enjar would use his land, the land that had been their target, to barter it with the scroll, the worst would be Enjar still stood on his ground and paid them little price. Again, he exceeded their worst expectations.

But at least, now he got onto the scroll and even if Enjar could go freely right now, he may not again in the future. It was because they had planned to deal him good and paid the price for offending their interests. And that scroll that Enjar had on his hands, would be a crucial thing to start the downfall of the supposed genius man from the Spring Land City!

Tubin looked into the eyes of Kail with solemness. His eyes reflected his opinion to strongly disagree with doing something reckless that would be a trap for them to jump. He had lived more than the young man in front of him. After all, he was from a generation that was above him. So it was natural for him to act like a senior in front of him to advise him on some things that needed to be considered with great caution.

Especially when he was the special guard assigned to protect Kail. He naturally put Kail's protection as the umost priority than anything else.

Listening to Tubin's words, Kail could only grit his teeth in anger. He could understand where Tubin's reasons were coming from. But it just made it worse for him. Knowing that he could not do anything after what he had done to him today was like the worst feeling that he had ever felt for as long as he had lived. He could not even punch something now to express his discontent because if he did that, then he would be showing his weakness and hopelessness in broad daylight to the people around him.

After waiting for a while, they decided to go back and report the matter to the higher ups of the family, while some would go on their separate ways to do some recon.

Enjar was walking in a pretty excited manner. His direction was different from before. Not only did he not go in the direction of his first initial destination, he also went in the opposite direction of it. He went to the gates of the city and had the intention to go outside.

'Should I go home first before I go out of the city? Hmm…. I think I did not need to. Just like what I had planned, I will still be going back home tonight. If I keep on going here and there, I will only be wasting my time. So then it has been decided. I wonder if this trip is going to be worth it?' Enjar thought with a smile on his face.

Without further ado, he took a carriage and went to his destination. He rented it from a local shop and paid with some money that he still had inside of his pockets.
