Chapter 19

Despite the decay and destruction, Cordelia still stood as a testament to the defiance of life’s chaos. The ship leaned slightly to one side, and many of the intricate details that once made her stand out were gone. Nissa observed a few remaining chests and barrels, which might have contained the personal belongings of the crew who had long been lost to time. However, the broken containers were empty, and the contents inside had long been claimed by the ocean’s creatures.

As Nissa explored Cordelia in her dream, she saw no evidence of human remains. The crew might have managed to escape, but it was equally likely that the watery domain had claimed them long ago. Regardless, Cordelia remained a haunting and awe-inspiring reminder of the power and mystery of the ocean.

Nissa’s dream turned into a nightmare as she felt a sharp, piercing pain in her head. Waves of agony washed over her, causing her to feel disoriented and dizzy. She tried to make sense of the pain, but her thoughts were jumbled and chaotic, making it difficult to find a solution to her misery.

Her mind felt clouded with conflicting thoughts, making it hard for her to think clearly. She closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and tried to focus on her breathing to calm herself down. Slowly, the pain started to subside, and her mind began to clear.

As she lay in bed, she wondered what could have caused such a sudden and intense pain. Was it just a bad dream, or was it something more? She made a mental note to talk to Hattie about it in the morning, hoping that her friend would have some insight into what was happening to her.

As Nissa rose from her slumber the next morning, she noticed that the witch Feriae Darkmore was gazing at her. Sensing the urgency in Feriae’s gaze, Nissa walked over to her, and without a word, Feriae placed her hand on Nissa’s forehead.

“Nissa, you are under attack,” Feriae said gravely. “I can sense the darkness that surrounds you, which wasn’t there yesterday.”

Nissa’s eyes widened with shock. “Does that explain the strange dream and pain I had last night?” she asked.

This narrative has been unlawfully taken from Royal Road. If you see it on Amazon, please report it.

Feriae nodded solemnly. “Yes, it does. I will make you something to help, but first, I must consult with the coven about this.”

Nissa felt a chill run down her spine as Feriae’s words sank in. She had known that the fight against Arden and his followers would be dangerous, but she never imagined that she would be an under attack in such a direct manner. As Feriae hurried off to consult with the coven, Nissa could feel the weight of the impending danger settling heavily on her shoulders. She knew she needed to remain strong and focused if she was going to survive this battle.

Hattie, Nissa’s closest friend, and confidante noticed the unease on Nissa’s face and approached her. “What’s wrong, Nis?” she asked, placing a comforting hand on Nissa’s shoulder.

Nissa filled Hattie in on her strange dream and the pain she had experienced, as well as Feriae’s revelation that she was under attack. Hattie’s expression grew somber as she listened intently. “We need to be careful, Nis. Arden and his followers are becoming bolder every day. We can’t let our guard down,” Hattie said.

Nissa nodded in agreement. “I know. But what can we do? How can we protect ourselves?”

“We need to keep an eye out for any suspicious activity and be vigilant. But we also need to strengthen our powers,” Hattie replied.

Nissa thought about Hattie’s words, and it dawned on her that she had been neglecting her magical practice lately. With the weight of the impending battle bearing down on her, she had let her focus on her growth slip. But if she was going to survive the upcoming fight, she needed to be at her best.

“You’re right, Hattie. We need to start practicing our magic again. We need to be ready,” Nissa said, determination creeping into her voice.

Hattie smiled, pleased to see Nissa taking charge. “That’s the spirit, Nis. Let’s get started.” And with that, they set off to practice their magic.

Upon consulting with the coven, Feriae, Hattie, and Nissa learned some alarming news. The dark witches, along with the vampires, had enhanced their magic beyond the average witch’s abilities. They had concocted a potent spell to specifically target sirens, and Nissa was their primary target. The danger level had skyrocketed beyond what they had originally anticipated, and the coven was gravely concerned about Nissa’s safety.

The coven quickly went into action to devise a plan to protect Nissa and defeat the dark witches and their vampire allies. They knew that this would be a challenging and dangerous task, but they were determined to see it through to the end. They urged Nissa to remain vigilant and stay close to her allies, as they worked tirelessly to find a solution to this dangerous threat.
