Chapter 13

Nissa felt like a kid in a siren at a boat show, unable to choose between the two beautiful gems. She looked to Hattie for advice, and Hattie smiled and said, “Why not get both? They’ll make a great addition to your collection.”

Nissa’s face lit up with excitement, and she paid for both gems, already thinking about the spells she could enhance with them.

As they prepared to leave the gem shop, Nissa’s attention was drawn to a Tourmaline with a brilliant cut. The gem was the size of a strawberry and in outstanding condition. Nissa knew that Tourmaline was quite unpopular, but this gemstone species was incredibly rare. She had heard that it had elemental properties, which made it a perfect fit for an offensive spell focus enhancement.

Without hesitation, Nissa added the Tourmaline to her collection of gemstones. She knew it would be a valuable addition to her magical tools and could potentially give her an edge in battles against her enemies. She thanked the shopkeeper and left the shop, feeling content with her purchase.

Upon checking out at the gem shop, the witch at the counter took notice of Nissa and asked if she could see her form. Nissa was a bit hesitant at first, but Hattie encouraged her to show a part of her form. The witch was delighted to see her and they chatted for a bit about the different types of magical beings in the world.

As they were about to leave, Hattie spotted a book titled “World of the Solstice” on a nearby shelf. She was intrigued by the title and the promise of various types of magic contained within. Hattie purchased it, thinking it would be a useful resource to have on hand for whatever challenges they might face in the future. As she paid for the book, she couldn’t help but feel excited about the adventures that lay ahead for her and Nissa.

Hattie transported them back to their realm and as Nissa and Hattie continued on their journey, each lost in their thoughts about the gems and the book. As they walked, Nissa couldn’t help but feel grateful to have Hattie by her side. Hattie had been her best friend, and Nissa had learned so much from her. Hattie had always been there for her, offering guidance and support whenever she needed it.

As they walked, Nissa thought about the offensive spell she could create with the Tourmaline. She had always been fascinated by the power of elemental magic and was excited to experiment with the gemstone. She made a mental note to research as soon as they reached their destination and to have Hattie teach her some magic that she might be able to use.

Meanwhile, Hattie was engrossed in the book. She was amazed by the different types of magic it contained, some of which she had never heard of before. She couldn’t wait to start reading and learning more about the magical world.

After a while, they reached a clearing in the woods where they had planned to set up camp for the night. As they unpacked their belongings, Nissa took out the gems and placed them on a nearby rock. She studied them for a while, admiring their beauty and potential. Hattie sat down next to her, and they began to discuss the different ways they could use the gems in their spells.

As the night fell and the stars came out, Nissa and Hattie sat by the campfire, lost in their thoughts and plans. They talked about the adventures they had been on and the ones they hoped to have in the future. They talked about the magic they had learned and the magic they had yet to discover. And as they sat there, surrounded by the quiet of the forest and the flicker of the fire, they knew that they were where they were meant to be.

As Nissa gazed up at the starry sky, memories flooded her mind of the nights she had spent floating in the ocean, waiting for unsuspecting sailors to cross her path. But her thoughts were soon interrupted by the sight of her favorite star cluster, which glimmered above her. Myrmecobius, made up of twelve stars, was easily recognizable by its shape, which resembled a boulder. It could be seen most prominently high in the Southeastern sky in the middle of spring.

Nissa turned to Hattie, excitement in her voice as she explained the significance of the constellation. “Myrmecobius is associated with motherhood and is said to bear the sign of great leaders,” she explained. “Those born under this constellation are believed to possess natural leadership qualities and have the potential to achieve great things.”

Hattie listened intently, fascinated by Nissa’s knowledge of the stars. As they sat there, gazing up at the glittering sky, they both felt a sense of wonder and awe at the vastness of the universe and the mysteries it held. For a moment, they forgot about the worries and struggles of their everyday lives, lost in the beauty and magic of the world around them.
