As Nissa settled back down beside Hattie, she couldn’t help but think about what they were up against. The thought of a group of rogue vampires and dark witches working together to gain power and control was unsettling, and Nissa knew they had to act quickly to stop them. But for the first time in a while, she felt a sense of hope. With Idris’ information and their determination to see justice served, maybe they had a chance to make a difference.
As Nissa settled back into her sleeping bag, she couldn’t help but feel a sense of relief knowing that they were one step closer to uncovering the truth behind Mistral’s death. She closed her eyes and let herself drift off to sleep, feeling the weight of the day’s events catching up to her.
But even as she slept, her mind continued to work, strategizing and planning for what lay ahead. They would need to be careful and methodical in their approach to taking down Arden and his followers. It wouldn’t be an easy task, but Nissa was determined to see it through to the end.
As morning came, Nissa woke up feeling refreshed and ready to continue their journey. She glanced over at Hattie, who was still sleeping soundly, before silently packing up their gear. They had a long day of travel ahead of them, but Nissa knew they couldn’t afford to waste any time.
Before they left, Nissa made a mental note to stop by the ocean or a nearby seaside town in the next couple of days. She would need to charge up in salt water to maintain her strength and abilities. It was a small detail, but an important one that couldn’t be overlooked.
With everything packed and ready to go, Nissa gently shook Hattie awake, ready to hit the road once again. They had a mission to complete, and Nissa was more determined than ever to see it through to the end.
As they made their way down the road, a sign caught their attention: “Welcome to Emsstable Bay, population 3325.” Nissa’s excitement grew at the prospect of finding a meal, but Hattie looked at her with concern. She knew Nissa was a siren and that feeding on humans was a natural part of her instincts, but she still couldn’t shake the discomfort she felt about it.

As they entered the town, Nissa decided to share the news about Idris with Hattie. She didn’t want to keep any secrets from her friend, especially not when they were on a mission together. They found a small ice cream place and decided to grab a snack while they talked.
“So, last night I met with Idris,” Nissa began, her voice low. “He had some information about the dark ritual that killed Mistral. It was orchestrated by a group of rogue vampires led by someone named Arden. They’re working with dark witches to gain power and control over the rest of our kind.”
Hattie’s eyes widened in surprise. “Do you know where they are now?” she asked.
Nissa shook her head. “No, but Idris said that Arden has a base of operations in the mountains to the north. It’s heavily guarded, but we might be able to get inside if we’re careful.”
Hattie nodded, taking in the information. “Well, we’ll have to be careful, then. We don’t want to walk into a trap.”
As they finished their ice cream, Nissa couldn’t help but feel grateful for Hattie’s support and understanding. Despite their differences, they were both committed to finding justice for Mistral and stopping the dangerous group that had taken her life.
“Thanks for understanding, Hattie,” Nissa said, smiling gratefully. “I didn’t want to keep anything from you.”
Hattie smiled back. “Of course, we’re in this together. We’ll figure it out.”
Nissa prepared to enter the ocean as the sun began to set. She had earlier in the day noticed a fishing boat that was about to depart, and the men on board caught her attention.
As she submerged into the water, Nissa’s mind drifted to the information she had learned from Idris. Arden and the rogue vampires posed a significant threat to their community, and they needed to act fast before they could cause any more harm. She swam towards the fishing boat and noticed the men preparing their equipment. One of them, a tall, hulking man with piercing blue eyes, attracted her attention. He was taken to the back of the boat by himself after she set up her customary trap. Trapped in her stare, he bowed to kiss her. She drew him beneath when he was only an inch from her lips.
He had no breath, therefore she could easily overcome him in the water with her siren might. She only had to hold them submerged for long enough to appreciate how quickly the process went. He was stripped of his clothing, and she ate him up.
