Were not in Kansas anymore

Were not in Kansas anymore

Earlier that day 21:00

Matt and Ben had been good friends ever since their junior year though being now 17 years old the two kids were always digging themselves into conspiracy theories and ghost hunting like some of their favourite tv shows. Being as this was the night; they had been waiting for it was a perfect time to commence their plan. One of the local warehouses had rumors surrounding it that it was haunted, they had read it on a reddit page that they frequently visited. Reading into these stories these young teenagers could not hold back their own excitement over the fact that they would be sneaking into the warehouse they had noticed the past few nights that there was only one security guard in the compound or at least only one vehicle left located in the parking lot. At the very least if they wore black clothing and stayed hidden, they could very well sneak in and peak around before anyone knew any better. So, this was the night as they drove matts beat up car down one of the dirt roads closest to the outer fence that was only a mere 20 yards from the road the previous night they had scouted this place out due to a small hole in the fence allowing access to the area not even having to break it themselves it was the perfect entry point.

Turning to see his best friend Matt smirk at him as he pulled up his hood to help hide his face shouldering the backpack the two of them started there walk to the fence line. The grass was still damp from the rainstorm the previous day, so they had to be careful where they stepped since neither of them wanted to turn back just because it was too damp. Ben had kneeled as he pulled out his dads’ old binoculars that he used for bird watching but was perfect to use to insure all or most of the security had gone home before they would even cross the barrier as no matter how they were both were careful since neither wanted to be grounded or in trouble with the law.

Scanning the complex both boys chatted and waited for an hour before they felt it was both dark enough and well suited for their stealth mission. Ben held the fence aloft as matt scurried underneath, once on the other side the other boy held it up for his friend who also crawled though. Once Matt had crossed over safely Ben once again checked the area with the binoculars once it was clear both crouched low and hurried off to one of the outdoor storages lots, where Semi Trucks would leave empty trailers ready for pickup. Making suitable time and allowing the boys to crouch behind the one of the empty trailers they caught their breaths as both were not known for much exercise outside of running from the police or local security checking out the local graveyard at night for ghosts.

Checking around the trailer matt didn’t speak but pointed at a double door off to the northern side of the warehouse that was partially blocked, and neither could see a camera not meaning there wasn’t one but at the very least they were quicker than some probably old or overweight security so no need to be too careful. They still hurried over to one of the doors as Ben watched as Matt quickly and expertly picked the lock. Matt had a knack for doing locks, he got one of those practice kits off amazon that allowed you to see the pins to properly unlock basic locks. Easily moving his way up to the more advanced locks, to matts surprise this lock took a bit of work and it started to make ben feel uneasy for which he was about to whisper to his friend about it when he heard the click and both boys hurried on side before any alarm system could go off.

Matt turned and looked at ben with a wide smile on his face “Ben buddy old pal we did it, best to keep our voices down still as hell it could have a bit of an echo to it in such open spaces.”

Chuckling to himself Ben smile in return “Well my dearest friend I thought you had lost your game what was that like 5 minutes for some stupid warehouse lock, times be slipping man!”

“Oh, shut up dude it was way harder than I expected they have some serious locks on a door like this, honestly I am surprised though I was able to get through at all I kept dropping pins…” Before Matt could continue Ben hushed him with a wave of his hand while pointing at something off in the distance it looked like an angel statue just sitting in the middle of the lane where forklifts would be normally seen driving during the daily operations. Finding it both weird and fascinating they hurried on over to look at the statue.

Coming up to the statue first ben looked around it as it had some of the ugliest features imaginable. This Angelic statue harbored the look of one of those sick sociopaths that you would see in those super dark tv series. Its face was aged with time and looked to be ancient at least to their own eyes. Not just its face but its arms were strung out as if trying to grasp something that was not there to begin with. “Matt, I wonder what sort of person collects or orders these things? Maybe they are sold so the FBI knows who to put on the watch list or something!” That made both boys giggle at the thought but honestly damn was the thing something to look at.

As Ben was looking at the really fucked up statue Matt found himself gaping at how much space this whole building held it was massive. Also, what was with this stupid fog, it was weird since when they walked over here there was no fog whatsoever but here in a building the fog was not so thick as you couldn’t see through it but thick enough it would make you worry for the dampness on the goods held inside. Turning back to Ben who had finished his tom foolery of the statue. They decided that it would be best to head towards the western side of the complex further away from the security catwalk they could see above them. Best to stay way from easy access routes for any undo attention. Just before both boys got too far Matt whipped his head around when both boys heard a near grinding sounds. Ben had just frozen in place, but matt looked directly at the sound seeing the statue now faced towards them was more then a little disconcerting to say the least. Not keeping his eyes off the statue Ben asked from his left “What is it matt...” before turning to face what the now frozen matt was looking at.

Ben had never been more fascinated in the supernatural then he was now the statue had just moved and no one was around besides either of them. Since Ben would have suspected matt of making some sort of trick happen if it were anywhere else but here in a warehouse, they had never been well it only pointed towards one thing the supernatural. This was something they both adored growing up but now in the presence of such an object well it was a little freaky as one could not know for sure.

“Hey, Matt, I gotta say I know it wasn’t you, but it wasn’t you that moved that right?”

Replying nearly instantly Matt responded, “No way man I was right beside you and we both walked away, it only moved when we weren’t looking since you were poking that thing like a billion times since it was so creepy”.

“I know, I know I just had to be sure is all you never know right? But still, this is a find you know we can assess if its true or not. Let us walk a little further away before we turn and see if it moves again, I would love to see it move but maybe its shy?”

Both boys took several steps back allowing them to be several meters away now, though unbeknownst to them they were getting pushed deeper and deeper into the warehouse. Just then matt spoke up “Okay I think this is far enough away let’s see if we can get it closer to us, Ben pull out your phone this could be amazing for the community!” Looking over slightly as he saw ben pull out his phone and hold it up behind him as he recorded.

“Let’s see if its just cant be looked at when it moves or if we can record it as well.” Finishing off his statement ben turned around ensuring that his phone was in the perfect position to capture anything weird.

Seeing how his best friend had turned around Matt figured he should as well, as soon as he turned the loud sound of grinding began and it was getting louder as well as faster grinding. Finding as that was good enough Both boys whirled around to see the statue had turned and crossed half the distance between them arms stretched out and aimed right at the boys. As matt watched the stone statue, ben quickly looked over the footage which had only been about 10 seconds. Making sure to keep his eyes on the stone statue in front of them as he listened to Ben gasp in surprise Matt nearly took his own eyes off the living statue.

“Matt, we need to leave right now Ill show you the video, but that thing is evil man. Even demonic, though at least it does not move if its being looked at which I will do if you want to watch the video which I assume you do.”

“Yeah man I do want to see it, hand over the phone and you can watch this thing for me” shakily taking the phone from the equally shaky hand of the other boy Matt looked down at the screen in his hand. Playing the video from the beginning Matt could see this creature still a stone statue but its face actively moving in a sinister chomping motion near looking milky white solution frothing from the mouth as its hands dragged its body across the floor towards them quickly. Watching the video Matts heart rate increased at which point he could see the moment when the boys had turned back, and the creature had snapped back into its stone like features before them.

Matt Shakely looked up from the phone but before handing it back he instantly sent it over to his phone as well it was far too valuable for the community to leave this to chance of being corrupted as his phone saved to the cloud. Just as the boys were passing the creature the doors that they had come through had burst open and in the doorway stood a younger fit looking man with one leg. Though he still looked mad, Seeing as the man had his weapon drawn both boys held up their hands to show they were unarmed. Frozen in fear and in more terror as the boys watched the man in what felt like slow motion as he raised his gun and pulled the trigger once. Both boys closing their eyes expecting to get shot but not feeling anything other than hearing the stone statue falling to the ground beside them.

“Damit those kids are going to get themselves killed”, Jack ran as fast as he could pumping his legs down the staircase and outside the building with time distortion any amount of time could have passed while he wasn’t in there so he pumped his legs and ran full tilt a mere 30 seconds had passed from when he saw the boys enter to pulling that door open now. Quickly scanning his surroundings Jack pulled his side arm as he spotted the boys safe for the moment but right beside the monster passing it by as if it were nothing special. Seeing their eyes meet his and no longer looking at the statue he saw that it started to transform only to stop when he looked at it. Quickly Jack fired off one round at center mass watching the two boys freeze completely before watching the statue fall to the ground.

Before the two boys had a chance to open their mouths jack spoke while pointing at them “Out you go, no ifs or butts about it. Ill have you know the police have been informed and are on there way” One of the nice features was a button he was told to press near the entrance of the security area that would be sent to the local police they should be here in about 10-15 minutes since they were so close to town. Like how a bank had an alarm but maybe it was warranted in these situations.

Watching as one of the boys was going to open his mouth to speak, he gave the boy a glare before escorting both boys out to the compound before shutting the door and locking it.

Seeing that Jack mentally closed out the notification he would deal with it after he got these boys dealt with. Ensuring the door was locked he escorted both boys over to a desk as they waited for the police officers to show up. Looking at his watch Jack could see this was going to be a long night 21:55.
