Jack stepped through back onto the carpet of the small room, turning back Jack could still see the shop but a thin barrier was covering the gap when Jack pushed on it, he felt an almost innate sense that he could not pass back through it yet. Maybe some kind of cool down on a safe room after exiting, probably to stop people from jumping inside just to avoid a threat and heal up in safety whenever one wished. Turning away from the glimmering doorway Jack looked around it was good to confirm one’s surroundings were still safe especially after you were gone for some time. Time was weird in this dungeon for all Jack new it had been 30 minutes since he was left the safety of his office and got lost in this damn dungeon, like why couldn’t the dungeon be like horned rabbits or boars hell Jack felt like he would face off against bears one on one then face some of these monsters.
But no matter how much Jack wished for something to be the case it wouldn’t, so it was time for Jack to move along and accept that he got likely the short end of the stick in this dungeon experience.
Looking around the room and spotting no change Jack made his way back down to the bigger room and checked there as well confirming that yes indeed there was no creature lurking and waiting for Jack to just walk past. Exiting into the hallway Jack made his way to the staircase. Once again admiring the architecture as well as the pure esthetic of this mansion. Taking a moment to peer over the edge to make sure nothing was on the staircase nor at the bottom waiting for him. Jack started the slow walk down the staircase mentally telling himself to focus on the skill stealth as it was only basic, but all advantages were needed in this house of horrors.
Making sure to pace himself at each landing Jack would recheck to ensure that nothing had changed, seeing as the first time there was nothing didn’t make that true always. Reaching the second landing proved true as Jack looked over and saw a different shuffling creature this one looked to be like a man he was disheveled and wore what looked like to be one of those news boys’ caps you would see in period films. The man was obviously not as wealthy as the women creature was due to the lack of finery on it as well as the cheaper looking clothing. The creature shuffled on by and continued towards the left side of the corridor, not knowing how exactly these creatures hunted but he suspected sound.
Seeing the creature shuffle off Jack released a breath he hadn’t even known he had been holding. Seeing that the coast was now clear Jack made it all the way to the bottom of the staircase, making this the main level and likely the biggest level.
Seeing as the creature went left of the staircase Jack turned and headed down the right side of the corridor, which immediately had a single door. Witten above the door showed a language Jack had never seen before, though not unheard-of Jack new that this place was weird, but everything seemed to have a point on way or another.
Sighing Jack pressed his ear up against the door listening intently to any noise whatsoever in the case there was more since apparently now there was at least two of them. Waiting about 20 or so seconds Jack Cracked the door to see what was on the other side which was a huge walk-in pantry. Seeing herbs hanging on the walls and huge cabinets possibly filled with all manner of goods could be explained. Seeing tons of drawer spaces and 4 doors placed all on the opposite side of where he was located Jack figured since it was clean of these zombie esc creatures Jack used his inspection skill to look around the room seeing nothing light up, he nearly switched off the skill when he noticed one of the door nobs glowed faintly red from his inspection it was the door to the far right. Knowing that red means bad Jack would mentally note it as not being a door to open.
Scanning the other three doors the middle most one in a nook was the closest to Jack which really any direction in this house would be helpful indeed. Once again listening for any sounds on the side of this door. Feeling safe enough for the time being once again he gently pushed the door open which was the cold storage room a room, he wished that he had never opened. Inside the room was a larder full of meet hooks though in most butcher shops one can find pigs or cows strung up. Not this cold storage room, bodies all human bodies one way or another hung up all gutted and skinned, some were missing body parts and the worst part of it some of them were kids. Seeing this Jack had seen war crimes in the past and been made to stand by one way or another due to rules of engagement in place. Not this time Jack didn’t care if these were some fucked up part of this dungeon a way to seriously fuck up those who entered or if these were real humans who had wandered in like those two teens and gotten too deep and been captured.
Likely Jack new that he may never learn of their deaths but the rage inside of him built up knowing that the next zombie creature that the saw was dead. It didn’t matter if there were one or fifty of them, he was going to kill them all. Leaving the locker Jack Closed the door and breathed in fresh air both distraught and purely pissed the fuck right off at how these creatures treated his fellow humans. Especially the kids no person nor child should ever have to experience such horrors at the hands of creatures like these.

Finding his way to the next closest door which was now on his right Jack new he was acting irrationally to his thoughts at this moment but he new it had to change so Jack burst into the room with his sword pulled seeing a zombie flinch back at getting smacked by the door going inward Jack slashed will all his might, striking the creature right at its head. This blow though not the finest swordsmanship one could find found a weakness in that with the brain destroyed the creature dropped like a sack of potatoes.
Barely Jack notice before turning to the three other zombies in the room watching their slow bodies forced to shuffle faster towards him. He looked at their blood stain clothing noticing that this room was a dining room, and the meat on display that they were dining on sent Jack back into a full-blown rage. Taking a step forward towards the closest of the monsters he drove his sword straight into the creature’s head once again severing the connection to the skull. Quickly pulling out the sword Jack used his prosthetic leg to boot kick the next closest to give himself some space causing the zombie to fall headfirst into one of the head chairs crumbling itself as well as making it slightly caught up in the mess. The third zombie ‘quickly’ walked towards Jack even if it was just a slightly fast shuffle this zombie was moving, sticking out its arms as if to also grasp Jack and take a bite out of him.
Jack quickly made space and set his stance as he swung for the fences his rage slowly coming back under control, as this third zombie fell while he walked over to finish the last zombie which Jack had been calling it in his brain finally finished off the last zombie.
Noticing that he was taking deep breaths Jack didn’t realize how much strength and power he had exerted towards these new enemies. Obviously, they were weak in a different way than the weeping angels were where they had to move when not actively looking towards them.
These were almost like that but from the looks of it might be a swarm mechanic to them like all zombie movies you can only fight for so long in such a state as that.
Not having to wait long for the expected notification Jack could finally see what he was facing.
Congratulations player Jack Rickson you have slain x3 creatures known as the Shuffling zombie not known for their fast movements, they are deadlier when in larger groups. Threat rating low as individual but variant based on swarm amounts. Take Caution not all variants are easy to kill.
Not seeing anything else Jack checked the surroundings of the area the smell of the corpses was minimal even though they looked to be rotting as he looked them over. Trying not to think about it Jack noticed the slight glow of one of the cabinets seeing as it wasn’t the red of a trap, he opened it finding a three copper coins not much, but all loot is good loot.
Jacks’ priority was to finish clearing this house, now that his rage was but a slow simmer, he new that it was time to start. Seeing as this time there was only one other door leading out Jack went with that and went in a new direction then the one that he had entered. Making sure to step over the bodies Jack found his way to the other door, once again back in control it was better to get back to routine to first listen then check to see what he had seen. Opening the door once again only hearing slight shuffling Jack prepared himself sword still drawn, though slowly opening the door this time. Seeing as it was only one zombie he crouched in. Immediately the zombies head whipped around and locked eyes with him shuffling over in almost a power walk speed which was faster than the other zombies prepared Jack moved forward to meet the zombie head on as he swung his sword at it.
Though as he swung the zombie reacted and the sword hit the arm of the zombie instead of the intended head. Seeing this Jack tried to pry the sword free though not intime to receive a vicious slash from the zombie its claw like nails left a sizeable gash across his chest before getting its head skewered by Jacks sword. Watching as the zombie collapsed to the ground and the pain of the gashes across his chest leaving his uniform tattered in the front.
Quickly Jack pulled one of the vial’s out of his retention pouch and chugging the potion down as if it was a shot of tequila at the bar. Wincing at the taste of the potion, it wasn’t vile by any means though it was sweet like downing pure liquid sugar it had a nice taste, but the sweetness was a bit of a mood killer. What wasn’t a mood killer though was the fact that the wounds on his chest were visibly healing. Jack could get behind that, what could potions like these do for other things after all Tokhta said that these potions could heal me back to full health at this rank but past level 10 it wouldn’t be as great. But still most if not the majority of people out there had to be level 0 so how much would it cost to heal cancer could this heal that or was it only for combat injuries, Maybe that was a question to ask his merchant later.
Popping up in front of Jack once again was a new notification which was expected from killing a new zombie.
Congratulations Player Jack Rickson you have slain a zombie walker this zombie is still of low threat level though of a higher threat than a zombie shuffler. These zombies can be hard to spot in a horde but are used to great effect due to over confidence.
Smirking at the last statement Jack would try not to get too overconfident in face of these creatures that was the last thing he needed today was to overreach and get taken out.
Still out of breath and still recovering from the last fight even though brief it did take a tole on his body. By the looks of it maybe 10 more minutes should see him healed right up, so mid combat it wouldn’t save him but if he could survive the onslaught that’s when he would make it through with time. Finding a place to relax that he could see the whole room Jack parked his butt down in a chair and decided to wait it out.
