Time to Level

Jack once again found himself in the living room though this time his plan was to level up, he needed the experience and that was something Jack had a now concrete feeling that had to be solved. The best way seemed to be to hunt and kill monsters, no matter how few and far between some levels felt he was making good time after all to himself this was only his first day!

Finding his way to the doorway he previously suspected would lead him back to the staircase Jack found himself at the door, checking to see if the coast was clear or at least enough room for him to get through. This time Jack heard movement on the other side of the doorway, waiting for the shuffling feet which sounded like at least two zombie Jack prepped his sword and prepared himself. Not having to wait long for the shuffling to pass Jack pushed open the doorway as he rushed himself towards the monsters, they were too slow to turn surprising Jack that there were four zombies in the hallway one that looked slightly ethereal when looking at it, watching as dark clouds billowed off its clothing.

Thinking it was best to strike and kill the completely different one first that seemed to be stronger than even the walker zombie. This turned out to be the right frame of mind to have as Jack struck, he swung his sword around quickly enough to hit the zombie in the skull before it disappeared into the shadows. Watching its body fall over as it quickly became more physical in nature, Jack turned to see the shufflers reacting though so slowly that it never even mattered to begin with as Jack was much faster then they were he still had to be careful so he kept his distance though making sure to make each shot count as he quickly and aptly used his sword to cut off rotting limbs and hacking away at each one until the last one fell to his blade and all the ethereal energy wafted out towards him, Jack did notice that the shadow zombie produced a far thicker cloud of energy than anything he had seen thus far.

As Jack was currently using more a strength and endurance build it would make sense to put a point in each but did, he want to deviate from his previous plan? Thinking back on his earlier thoughts Jack was in survival mode running away from creatures worked but it only drove him deeper into this strange place. Maybe it was bot the best course of action, but Jack firmly believed that strength and a tougher endurance would carry him through the next part after all it was best to change plans when it seemed best to do so. Jack wasn’t willing to run away anymore he would try his best to make smart decisions but worst case he would learn from his mistakes hopefully. Slapping two points into each strength and endurance at the same time Jack nearly screamed out in pain as he cursed himself like an idiot “One at a time, damn it! why do I always forget the things that will cause me pain.” He curse to himself straightening as he looked around the hallway to ensure it was still clear, he quickly checked his stats again and smiled at it.

Seeing that the changes all checked out Jack continued down the unexplored part of this hallway seeing and killing a grand total of four more shufflers before making his way back to the staircase. Looking at the staircase Jack did debate on if he should choose to go back to Tokhta but seeing as he didn’t have much more money than the last time Jack figured still having nine potions to his name was far good enough at this point.

Once again making his way to the doorway that led to the kitchen Jack listened hearing nothing moving but Jack figured it was best to always be worried since he had met the Night Stalker, he didn’t want to meet one of those in a back room in such a dimly lit room. Opening the door slowly Jack looked around seeing nothing but the four doorways that he had previously seen and one of them was the only one he had yet to enter so far. If you didn’t include the one with the trapped door.

Hurrying towards the door might have been a little to rash which the dungeon might have thought so as well since Jack felt a searing pain stab into his lower back just off to the right of his spine. Swinging around Jack saw the damn Night Stalker, cursing himself for jinxing it Jack rushed towards the night Stalker though he was too late as it Vanished into the Shadows, Hearing a woosh from his rear instinctually Jack tried to dodge the blow catching him slightly on his left side tearing a small gash that welled with blood. While the creature tried to vanish, Jack was just able to tag the creature with his sword though it did minimal damage from how it didn’t even flinch at the attack. Before he was able to pullout a heath potion from his Bag another attack came and this time it came in low as it tried to slice him in the leg which would have worked if it wasn’t for the fact that the creature attacked his prosthetic leg and did no damage. Quickly pulling out the vial Jack chugged it before spinning his weapon around waiting for the next attack.

Seeing as his situation was dire since it seemed this creature had a read on him and Jack was unable to do anything for this, trying to think of any solution to the problem while barely dodging attempts at his life it finally hit Jack he had a damn Taser on his belt one of the ones that shoot and hit its target maybe that would actually work on the creature, it would be a one time shot but it was worth it in this instance.

Pulling out his taser Jack waited for the creature to reemerge from the shadows and attack him, luckily for him he didn’t have to wait long at all as the creature this time came from slightly further away aiming for his neck probably hoping to kill him swiftly in one shot. Jack Quickly pulled up his weapon and aimed watching as the creature was close enough to ensure he wouldn’t miss Jack pulled the trigger and watched as it hit the creature. Causing it to lock up and fall the ground paralyze and unable to shift back Jack quickly pulled out his sword and pierced the head of the creature. Not stopping the charge until Jack saw the flow of ethereal energy flowing into him, which was greater than even the one, he had fought before this creature was tough and Jack was currently slathered in his own blood as it pooled beneath him as the potion actively clotted the wounds for them to heal. Jack was 100 percent sure he never wanted to fight one of those again.

Quickly as he could Jack backed into a corner of the room so he could see everything and anything that came through those doors. Just as Jack sat down to reload his cartridge for his taser Jack was surprised by a notification.

Congratulations player Jack Rickson for beating a Night Stalker level 17 you have been awarded significant experience towards your next level causing you to level up.

Congratulations player Jack Rickson you have leveled up to level 9.

Dumb founded he had killed a level 17 Night Stalker that thing would have easily killed him eventually if it wasn’t for this non-lethal taser. Laughing at something that was supposed to be a non-lethal option being used to help him kill something was some good old dark humor.

Though now he had two more stats available to use and thinking how close that thing had nearly killed him should he place the points into endurance he had no idea if it was the right thing to do or not but that would make the stat his highest so he didn’t think that was best maybe just a single point into endurance and one into agility as needing to dodge a little better will help.

So, he placed one at a time and felt the pain lesson for each as they were applied to himself. Smiling at himself for being smart enough to remember the simple thing of being patient and putting one point at a time into each stat.

Before climbing to his feet Jack quickly reloaded the taser and re holstered the weapon back into its proper place.

Getting to his feet Jack could see that the wounds were nearly fully healed. It was at a point though that didn’t hinder him further to progress forward. Once again making his way over to the door Jack made sure to take his time and make sure to ensure that he wouldn’t get snuck up on. Checking to make sure the coast was clear Jack opened the door visually seeing that there was no creatures, though from experience that wasn’t a calming thought.

Slowly creeping into the room, it was open which looked like to be a rather large closet space like a mudroom of sorts though for huge parties there were small corridors that held hooks lining up and down of them. Seeing this everyone was assumed that the owners held many parties to host such events in their home. That’s when Jack heard a noise coming from the other side of the room, freezing in place Jack didn’t move it was then that he heard a door close softly with a click before solid thumping sounds could be heard. Making sure to keep his breathing even Jack slowly made his way behind what looked like a check in desk in the corner allowing for him to hide out of sight. Feeling like those kids from that early 90’s Dinosaur movie he crouched behind the desk and hid what ever this thing was it was so big, and it moved closer, each thump growing in closer with each step it took.

Pulling out his service weapon Jack figured if this was a time to go loud there would never be a time. Though as he was waiting the sound stopped until it didn’t when a huge hand gripped the side of the desk and ripped it from the flooring and looking down at a crouched over Jack before trying to grab him with those big meaty hands. This thing was rather slow, but it was built like a professional body builder but bigger its muscles had muscles that flexed and bent as it lumbered towards him. Finding himself easily able to keep a good distance Jack pulled back on his weapon as he fired it into the creature’s chest, seeing it bleed but little else happened besides the damn creature getting enraged at this attack on itself before doing a lumbering charge at Jack before Jack aptly dodged out of the way, before the creature barreled itself into the wall causing it to get partially stuck in the process. Trying to pull itself free Jack took this opportunity to aim and shoot at its head striking it twice before it was finally able to free itself and charge in his direction.

Seeing this Jack made sure to dodge only when it was close enough that it couldn’t turn away before it slammed into another wall causing part of the wood ceiling to partially fall on top of the creature. Seeing as this may as well be some kind of boss battle Jack once again fired his shots at the creature’s head, Visibly doing damage this time as Jack had hit it three more times in the head with a total of five. But before he was able to fire more off the creature bellowed in rage turning a sickly red before rushing over at Jack before he was able to dodge out of the way the creature swung at him as it hit him right in the ribs feeling it crack under the pressure of the blow that landed.

Coughing out blood as Jack sailed through the air as he slammed into a wall at what felt like terminal velocity Jack pulled back his side arm and fired all remaining shots into the creature before it crashed into him at full tilt that was when everything went black.
