Glossary - Attributes

In humans, attributes typically range from 8 to 20. A value of 10 represents the standard human average, indicating normal capability.

A value of 9 is considered below average, signifying weakness or reduced effectiveness in the related attribute.

8 marks an obvious deficiency or illness, making it noticeably detrimental to performance. Characters with this level of an attribute will struggle in tasks associated with it.

Choosing attributes below 10 is generally not advised, as it may severely hinder your character's abilities to function properly and interact with others. It will also create significant challenges inside the VR.

At the upper end of the scale, 20 represents the theoretical maximum for humanoid beings. This level indicates near-superhuman capability, where the character performs at the pinnacle of what is physically or mentally possible.

Strength

Strength measures the character's physical power and brute force. It determines how much damage they can deal with melee weapons, how much they can lift or carry, and their ability to break objects or overpower opponents in physical confrontations.

Dexterity

Dexterity represents the character's agility, reflexes, and precision. It governs their ability to perform tasks that require finesse and coordination, such as dodging attacks, picking locks, or using ranged weapons effectively.

Intelligence

Intelligence reflects the character's cognitive abilities, including reasoning, knowledge, and problem-solving skills. It influences their capacity to learn, cast spells, and understand complex systems or lore.

With players, it’s not easy to emulate higher intelligence. The AI adapts problems to the player's intelligence if possible. An Intelligence 10 player would be presented with a complex differential equation, while the Intelligence 18 player would get a simple addition calculation.

Each point of Intelligence above 10 increases your Manapool by 10.

Willpower

Willpower measures the character's mental fortitude, determination, and resistance to mental influences. It affects their ability to resist fear, remain focused, and withstand mind-altering effects.

With spellcasters, willpower also enhances the effects of spells. Combat spells do about 10% more damage per point of willpower above 10.

Constitution

Constitution represents the character's overall health, stamina, and physical resilience. It dictates how much damage they can take, how quickly they recover, and how long they can endure physical hardships. It helps resist disease, poison and bleeding effects, as well as the breaking of bones.

Charisma

Charisma is the character's social influence, charm, and ability to interact with others. It affects how well they can persuade, deceive, or inspire those around them. Charisma also influences leadership and the ability to negotiate or form alliances. Charisma comes across in interactions with players primarily through attractiveness, appearance and voice.

Manapool

Your base Manapool depends on your level and class.

Full spellcasters like Mages get 20 points per class level.

Classes that use mana but are not spellcasters, like Arcane Knights of Mana Adepts, get 15 points per class level.

Classes that don’t actively use mana get 5 points per class level to use with special skills or to feed artifacts like the new spell foci.

Each point of Intelligence above 10 increases your Manapool by 10.

Mana Regeneration

Mana does not regenerate while fighting, during strenuous activity or while casting or maintaining a spell.

Mana regeneration is calculated to fully recharge your Manapool after 8 hours of rest. (Manapool divided by 8, rounded up)
