With the group finally reunited at last—a large opening revealed itself to them. It was extremely bright, preventing any of them from perceiving what exactly stood behind that door.
"Should we…go and exit…?" Kafil asked.
"We don't have much of a choice now, do we? Either stay here and potentially starve to death, or exit and hope for the best." Jeongeun answered.
With a mixture of anticipation and anxiety, they walked through the door as the light engulfed everyone—taking them to a completely different plane of existence.
…
"What in the world…" Takashi muttered.
The scenery laying before his eyes shook him to his core. It was clear that this was not earth, yet it bore an uncanny resemblance to it—albeit perhaps being a thousand years before modernization. People donning tunics and carrying baskets filled with fruits roamed the streets, minding their own businesses. Their bodies were strangely frail and thin, as if their bones would break with just a single touch.
A few were cladded in chainmail, overseeing the commoners and acted as if they were the people's superior.
As Takashi turned his head, he was befuddled to see that the entrance he and his group had passed through was nowhere to be seen and a mighty mountain stood behind them instead.
"I want to say we might have traveled to the past but…that wouldn't make too much sense." Jeongeun said, observing his new surroundings. People seemingly ignored them. It was as if they were invisible to them.
Before they could gather their thoughts and create hypotheses as to the reason they ended up here, the holographic screen intervened as it appeared in front of their eyes.
[It seems that you fellas managed to survive! Well, since you're one of the few that made it out alive, this will be the second and last part of the tutorial!]
[Currently, you are in a completely different dimension. Your task is simple, find the objective in this dimension, and complete it. Upon completing, you will be rewarded heavily and be tossed into another dimension.]
[There are a plethora of objectives within one dimension, and each one can lead to a completely different dimension. Not everyone is bound to receive the same quest. Some are risky but offer great rewards, while some are easy but give little to nothing.]
Support the creativity of authors by visiting Royal Road for this novel and more.
[If you wish to return home, once you've completed enough objectives from different dimensions, you will be transported to a dimension that, once you've slain the boss, you can return back home!]
[However, only 14 people maximum can enter that dimension. After that, there will be no more entries and those stuck in the different dimensions will be forced to live there.]
[Worry not, for most of the dimensions are suitable for human life. It's up to you to determine whether you wish to progress until the very end, or simply settle down in one of the dimensions. That's all, and good luck with your adventures, humans!]
[Tutorial complete!]
As the holographic screen vanished before their eyes, so did the invisibility effects casted onto them it seems. The people gave them weird looks with a few spouting words that clearly were not recorded in history.
The people bore the same resemblance to humans from the medieval period, particularly the ones from the High Middle Ages. Upon noticing the large commotion, three brave guards approached them while pointing their weapons towards them as a precaution.
"Raise your hands, and put down your weapons. It's best to comply right now." Park Jeongeun advised.
Hesitantly, Takashi laid down his daggers, Kafil offered his gloves, Sungah handed over her katana and Park Jeongeun put his sword on the ground.
"Hwæt! Wē Gār-Dena in geārdagum." One of the guards demanded—pointing his spear at Park Jeongeun.
Although he had never encountered such a language before and did not learn it, he could somewhat grasp the guard's intention as he took off his armour—revealing to them he is one-armed.
Now that they were barehanded, the guards tied their hands with ropes and began escorting them through the bustling streets. The peasants gazed at them with hostility and relief—especially towards Park Jeongeun whose hair was a striking shade of pink—unnatural to the eyes of this world's inhabitants. After walking for somewhere around fifteen minutes, they eventually came across a menacing tower made from bricks stacked on top of one another.
Another guard hurriedly greeted them and opened a bronze door that showed a staircase that led underground. Descending down the stairs, they noticed blood stains and mold growing amidst the crevices of the bricks. The pungent smell of the place made them nauseous.
Amidst their descent, they passed three separate chambers—only stopping at the fourth chamber and as they did—the guard dragged them into it. Multiple prison cells containing terrorists, serial killers, and rebels stared at their new inmates with gratifying smiles etched onto their faces—as if they had been awaiting for new toys to play with.
"Ēow ealle gewīceað hēr oþ þone nīehstan þrǣf ceapunga ðæs þēowes." The guard announced as he tossed them into their respective prison cells before leaving the chamber.
The presence of rotting corpses greatly disturbed Sungah as she swallowed her own vomit as to not shame herself in front of her new inmates. Meanwhile Takashi, and Kafil were only mildly concerned as to skeletal remains of the previous tenant.
Jeongeun on the other hand could care any less, even going as far to examine it without a hint of fear or remorse presented on his face.
"Nīwe andwlitan, hā!" One of the bigger looking prisoners that could easily dwarf Kafil shouted.
The way he expressed his dominance over them clearly indicated he might just be one of tougher inmates here.
"Gē gislas beoþ tō lēofianne mid! Gearwaþ ēow sylfe! Þēah þe gē noldon sweltan, gē sceolon beoran!" He continued.
"Ah, just shut the fuck up." Jeongeun remarked, startling every individual presented.
"I don't know what you're talking about, but my instincts are telling me you're up to no good. Since we both can't understand each other, then I'll use this to convey my words to you." Picking up the tooth of the deceased prisoner that previously resided within his prison cell—he flicked it with enough force and precision to not only pass through the iron bars but also grazed the prisoner's cheek.
As blood trickled from the newly formed wound on his face, his cheeks puffed up as his entire face turned scarlet red—anger surging through every veins in his body. At that very moment, everyone instinctively knew what his action would later transpire into. Staring directly into Park Jeongeun's crimson red eyes, he opened his mouth.
"Ic swere be mīnum naman, Haywood Lintone, þīn deaþ ne bið sēoþ." The prisoner swore.
