Forced Game

"...Was? Ich habe Sie wohl falsch verstanden. Wiederholen Sie, was Sie gerade gesagt haben. (...What? I must have misunderstood you. Repeat what you just said.)" Park Jeongeun uttered as he rubbed his forehead.

"Die Schwäche des Monsters ist der Tod. (The monster's weakness is death.)" The little girl replied.

Letting out an exasperated sigh—Jeongeun stared at the little girl for a bit before continuing with the conversation.

"Was du nicht sagst. Jedermanns Schwäche ist der Tod, verdammt noch mal. (You don't say. Everyone's weakness is death, damn it.)"

"Ja! Und so besiegt man das Monster! Wir müssen es töten! (Yes! And that's how you defeat the monster! We have to kill it!)" The girl said enthusiastically.

"...Ich weiß, dass ich das nicht früher gefragt habe, aber wie heißt du? (...I know I haven't asked this before, but what's your name?)"

"Uschi Ahlers, warum? (Uschi Ahlers, why?)"

"Also gut, Uschi Ahlers, lassen Sie mich meine Frage darstellen. Wie können wir das Monster töten? (All right, Uschi Ahlers, let me explain my question. How can we kill the monster?)"

"Uhm…Ich weiß es nicht… (Uhm…I don't know…)"

"Wenn Sie es nicht wissen, fragen Sie die Frau dort drüben. (If you don't know, ask the woman over there.)" He pointed at the mage. "Und dann übersetzen Sie mir, was sie gerade gesagt hat. (And then translate for me what she just said.)

Nodding her head, the little girl bombarded the mage with questions before returning a few minutes later.

"Sie sagte, dass die Schwäche des Monsters der Tod ist! (She said that the monster's weakness is death!)" The little girl said energetically.

'I swear my blood pressure is rising up so much because of this…' Jeongeun complained inwardly yet still maintained his posture to acquire his desired answer.

Two more times the scenario repeated—with the little girl asking the assassin and the knight instead of the mage previously—yet everything remained unchanged as she gave the same frustrating answer to him until he eventually gave up.

'Ridiculous. How utterly ridiculous.' He grumbled inwardly.

Looking back at the little girl, she had a huge grin on her face as if she was a genius. Letting out an exhausting sigh, Park Jeongeun announced that he along with his subordinates will look for items to fight the monster. While in actuality, he already made up his mind to avoid direct confrontation with the monster.

With a few rations in a backpack Kafil carried, they continued with their journey to find a safe haven they can take refuge in. However, unbeknownst to any of them…an unforeseen circumstance occurred.

"Are you sure it was right to leave them behind, sir?" Takashi asked.

"Their stupidity will only burden us." Jeongeun replied bluntly.

"But I mean, they are right though. Death is that thing's weakness."

"Ah…idiot understanding another idiot's intuition. How classic."

"That hurts, sir. Well, I think you're the idio-urgh!" Takashi winced in pain as he crashed against…the air?

"Look who's the actual idiot now." Park Jeongeun mocked him.

"No I'm not! I swear I hit something…" Takashi whined as he stood up. Stretching his arms outward, here was in fact an invisible force that blocked him. Then instantaneously, a jolt of electrical current shocked Takashi—as if warning to not touch it.

"Ouch!" He screamed as he withdrew his hand.

"First, a monster. Then, people with fantasy abilities. Now, a fucking invisible force." Jeongeun muttered, a terrifying, almost crazed—forced smile stained his face. "Ha…AHAHAHA!!!!" A maniacal laughter abruptly emerged from his mouth, echoing through the empty, desolated streets.

"...What the fu-" Takashi's words were cut short as Park Jeongeun punched the wall with strength beyond comprehension, causing a shockwave to occur as his fist made contact. Yet the wall remained unharmed, standing mighty and proudly without even the tiniest of dents or cracks on it.

"S-super strength…" Kafil muttered in dazed at his leader's strength.

"Haha…I see, I see. So this is how those bastards want to do it. Forcing us to play their petty little games. You three, hear me out. We have to hunt down that monster and when we do, we will search for the fuckers that plotted everything behind our back. Mark my words, I will not stop until I catch them.

"They can hide, they can run, but I'll still hunt them down at the end. Once I get my hands on them…I'll rip their limbs apart, one by one, and pluck their eyes, and then cut their tongue. Only once they are broken down thoroughly will I relieve them of the sufferings of the living. Ah…it's so hard to control my expression. Just thinking about their demise makes my body tremble in excitement…"

As Jeongeun finished expressing himself, he turned to face his subordinates with a sinister smile that usually belonged to the worst of the worst type of villains one would discover in movies, comics and novels. It made all of them question whether they were working underneath an evil man or the Devil wearing human skin.

Nevertheless, they were not planning on disobeying him anytime soon considering his ruthlessness towards his enemies. They could only scratch the surface of what horrific experimentations he would perform to those that betrayed him.

"Don't worry. As long as you guys understand and can bear the consequences of betraying me, go ahead."

"W-we wouldn't dare to do so…" Takashi spoke shakily.

"Haha. Hopefully your words will remain true until the very end. Now that we are forced to survive only in Seoul, let's actually formulate a plan with those bastards. As dumb as they are, they might be useful as meat shields. Do any of you have any objections?"

All of them shook their heads in a union, accepting his suggestion. As the group returned, they finally began their scheme and searched for the monster's supposed weakness.

Amidst their investigation, they discovered its tough skin had multiple layers as well as the fact it was wingless albeit possessing the face of a dragon.

A gunshot barely made a dent on its tough and rather agitated it which unveiled another ability it had underneath its sleeves—to conjure spear-like objects made out of either water, earth, or wind from thin air.

During their third day of exploring its potential weakness and abilities—Kafil accidentally uncovered its fear for fire while trying to escape from its wrath, and also took time learning how to utilize their abilities.

On the fourth day, they finally formulated a rather convincing plan to make the beast meet its maker's once and for all. Anxiously, they waited for Park Jeongeun to disturb the beast. Doubts dwelling in their mouth, audible gulping echoed through the streets the moment he stood in front of it.

Reloading his gun, he fired a single bullet to the beast's eye and taunted it. Now provoked, the beast promptly rushed at him with impressive agility while letting out loud roars along the way.

"Urgh, so loud! But…this is what I was hoping for in the first place. Get mad, and chase me. It's my first time seeing your kind so…I genuinely hope you aren't too annoying to take care of."
