Looking at the attribute panel, I gained 160 experience points and distributed my attribute points as follows:
- Strength: 15
- Agility: 20
- Stamina: 30
- Mana: 20
- Health: 55+5 (level up)+15 (5 attribute points), Mana +2 (level up), Defense +2 (level up). All four resistances are still at zero.
Other attributes have been omitted. The way attributes increase here is slightly different from in the game.
After leveling up, my health increased by 20 points. If I put all of my attribute points into stamina, wouldn't I have over 2000 health at level 100? Plus with Oak Sage... Hmm...
Of course, that's impossible. Without enough strength and agility to wear high-level equipment, having more health would be useless.
Through this battle, I realized there are still many areas where I fall short (no kidding).
Firstly, I can't control Poison Ivy's actions; it attacks on its own accord. This kind of battle could add some unexpected elements.
As a druid by nature, I faintly feel that actually controlling Poison Ivy's actions is within my ability; it's just that I haven't figured out how yet.
Secondly, Poison Ivy has too low an intelligence. When attacking zombies, it only needs to attack once - the continuous poison damage is enough to take them down - but Poison Ivy can't seem to realize this and continues attacking until they're dead for good.
These two issues combined really boil down to one thing - that being unable to control Poison Ivy. If only I could control it then these problems wouldn't exist at all!
It seems like I need to figure out how best to communicate with Poison Ivy myself...
"Little Flower."
I try giving it a name in order to improve our relationship; don't online novels always have these cheesy plotlines?
Poison Ivy happily spins around underground, ignoring me.
"Don't like it? How about Ruhua?"
I thought it didn't like the first name so I changed it.
It still ignores me as it spins around.
"Could it be that you don't like common names? Then how about Xinru? It's elegant and sounds nice."
I try to entice its interest with a face full of infatuation.
Still no response from Poison Ivy.
"Could it be that you don't like names? Right, this is another world. In that case, how about Felina?"
I ask cautiously.
Still no reaction from Poison Ivy.
"Oh, could you be male then? Let's see... Henry or Jim perhaps? You don't like those either? Could you prefer names from other planets instead - Vegeta, Frieza or Majin Buu...?"
For over an hour I throw out hundreds of names until my brain feels drained dry. But Poison Ivy still doesn't react; just spinning around in the ground looking relaxed.
It seems that its intelligence is really not good. I thought angrily, feeling like I wasted so much time on it.
I started using another more reliable method, which was to communicate with it mentally as if opening a storage box. My intuition told me that this was the most effective way...
From afternoon until sunset, I stared at the Poisonous Vine intently, believing that if it had any thoughts, it would feel embarrassed by my gaze.
The results were acceptable. By evening, I could faintly sense the presence of the Poisonous Vine. It was a wonderful feeling as if there was an invisible thread connecting us. Although it was vague and hard to notice without concentration, at least I found a direction for communication. With further training in the future, I believe that one day I can control the Poisonous Vine effortlessly.
Ensure your favorite authors get the support they deserve. Read this novel on Royal Road.
For the next few days, I trained near the Evil Cave - or rather gained experience - and gave preliminary commands to the Poisonous Vine. However, these commands were still vague; for example: when commanding it to attack a monster and there were other monsters nearby in different directions, it might randomly choose one to attack.
I have to say that its attacks are really powerful and its poison is insane! No matter whether they are Sinking Demons or Corpses with less blood volume after being bitten once by this vine they will undoubtedly die within two seconds while those with thicker blood require about three seconds before dying.
This made me quite depressed because although its attack frequency is approximately every three seconds while corpses usually take slightly over three seconds before dying which causes Poisonous Vine to waste time attacking them twice unnecessarily since their second attack does not contribute anything useful whatsoever!
As my proficiency in controlling Poisonous Vine is still lacking; therefore requiring full concentration just giving instructions within 3 seconds for attacking another enemy makes me somewhat strenuous hence why all i can do now is watch helplessly as Poisonous Vine attacks the corpses meaninglessly for a second time. Although it doesn't waste much time, it's still super annoying for someone like me who claims to be technically proficient.
After several days of intensive practice and communication with the poisonous flower vine, I have not neglected my "adventure" progress. My experience has now reached 6248/8000. It seems that after today, I will be able to reach level 3. Hehe, it took little Lolita Linya a few months to reach level 3, but my speed is like flying a plane. I am indeed a genius.
In the future, I can take little Lolita Linya out under the guise of leveling up. But no, after thinking about it for a while, I immediately rejected this proposal because it could easily expose the existence of my bug protection charm. Besides, although little Lolita Linya is super cute and pure-hearted with kindness in her heart, who knows if she might accidentally reveal something and attract some attention from certain people? I don't believe that all job changers in the dark continent are holding onto the idea of "unity and friendship" to "advance together". When there are many people around you, there will always be some scumbags with dark personalities.
The next day, I finally reached level 3 and learned my life-saving skill - werewolf transformation which was completely different from game values but still an incredibly powerful skill that did not disappoint me.
Werewolf Transformation (Level 8):
Strength +17%
Agility +17%
Health +45%
Movement Speed +38%
Attack Speed +24%
Accuracy +24%
Duration: 40 seconds
Several values cannot be divided by eight evenly so according to how they work in-game; at Level One Strength and Agility increase by 10%, then each subsequent level increases by an additional one percent; Health increases by ten percent at Level One then five percent per subsequent level; Movement Speed starts at ten percent for Level One then increases four percent per level thereafter; as for Attack Speed and Accuracy's 24% value, I'm not sure if it's +3% per level or starts at 10% and increases by 2% per level. However, I estimate that it should be the latter.
Werewolf Transformation is a pretty powerful skill. Although its effect may not be significant in the early stages of the game, once all aspects of your character are high enough, the added values become terrifying. Especially since it also adds initial Strength and Agility values (although they are relatively small), this gives me hope to pick up that super artifact.
I still added the 5 attributes of this level to my stamina, increasing my health by another 20 points. Now my health is already at 95. If I transform into a werewolf, it will be 137! Hoho, just like my fierce poison ivy, and with greatly improved safety.
It's time to explore the evil cave.
...Before entering the evil cave, I was prepared for an ambush and had already transformed into a werewolf.
"Werewolf transformation..."
To create an atmosphere, I coolly shouted out this skill in a deep voice.
Immediately there were sounds of bones rubbing against each other all over my body. A kind of itching sensation that went deep into my bones made me almost go crazy. Fortunately, it didn't last long; otherwise I might have really scratched myself raw.
"Roar..."
After completing the transformation, I couldn't help but roar towards the sky. This roar wasn't designed to show off; it seemed more like instinct - if you don't roar you can't proceed - completely involuntary and beyond control. After all, am I stupid enough to shout loudly here? Isn’t that equivalent to activating monster mode?
After roaring once, I felt uneasy and quickly looked around. It seems that this roar did not attract any unwanted attention from monsters nearby so I breathed a sigh of relief. In future transformations though,I need to suppress these involuntary habits such as shouting after completion because they are too likely to draw attention from monsters.
"Huh? What, the reasons I gave earlier don't count? Alright, fine. I admit it, I'll compromise. Don't hit me or touch my jj. Oh wait, that's where my kidney is! Let's fight fair and square...
Ahem...actually, the biggest reason is because if I keep shouting like this, I won't be able to launch a surprise attack anymore. Are you satisfied now? Can we discuss this privately like civilized people instead of making a scene and embarrassing ourselves?
After completing my transformation, I looked at my hands and saw they had become furry with sharp claws. The palms were padded with thick flesh cushions. The funniest thing was when I looked down at myself - protruding from my face was a snout with a mouth attached to it! My nose seemed to blend in with the mouth as one feature sticking out from my face.
I knew then that what stood before me was a wolf-headed humanoid creature; looking back at its paws revealed white fur covering them - apparently transforming into an endangered species of rare animal known as the Arctic Wolf.
In our previous world, these creatures were much more valuable than even job changers themselves due to their rarity and protected status against hunters who sought after them for their pelts.
With everything set up accordingly, I signaled for Poison Ivy not to stray too far away from me before stepping foot inside the cave."
