Chapter 16:The Stone of the World

Chapter 16:The Stone of the World

"Lord Akara, why did you tell me all this?" I whispered hesitantly, as if I were a member of the underground party meeting with a contact. I looked around nervously, afraid that someone might suddenly appear and accuse us both of being traitors or blasphemers.

Did she really trust me? What if I were a loyal follower of the divine authority? Even if I couldn't convince others that Akara was a blasphemer, having someone like me who strongly opposed her would make it difficult for anyone to do what she was doing. Or maybe when I showed resistance to her words, she had confidence in keeping me on her side or even killing me on the spot? Thinking about this made my palms sweat. Indeed, these leaders could be decisive even if they were kind-hearted.

But why did she take such risks by telling me these secrets while carrying the label of being a blasphemer? Couldn't she just use the ordinary version circulating among common people instead? What made her think that I was worth taking such risks?

"Wu." This was the first time Akara called my name formally.

"I am Akara, who believes in The Great Eye. Although my eyes are blind now, under The Great Eye's guidance, I have never been wrong about anything," said Akara turning around with a calm smile.

"The Great Eye will not deceive me. So I believe in myself and therefore believe in you."

"Akara-sama,"I sighed indirectly expressing my position

Then, at some unknown time and by an unknown person, a miraculous stone was discovered in a cave in the northern region of the Dark Continent, homeland of barbarians and known as the peak of the world - Halogas. This stone possessed mysterious powers and was named World Stone. Countless scholars and mages were attracted to it, traveling far and wide, even enduring great hardships just to catch a glimpse.

After centuries of tireless research by numerous learned scholars, they finally discovered its use - this massive stone was actually a portal to another world! Adventurers rejoiced upon discovering that there were no dangers on the other side. They eagerly stepped through the portal into this new world.

Soon after exploring this new realm, they found it astonishingly similar to their original home world; almost like twins. Thus began mass migration as kingdoms and tribes were established with names identical to those from their previous world in honor of their former homeland.

"Eventually you will go there too," she said with a sigh before laughing at my stunned expression. "Don't be surprised because there is also a Rog Camp in that world; only with different people inside. If I remember correctly, Haggis should still be overseeing that campsite over there. It's been so long since we last met so if you ever go there again please say hello for me." She smiled rarely but did so now while I stood motionless.

"Oh dear me," she continued after clearing her throat awkwardly. "I've gone off topic again... getting old makes one prone to rambling about irrelevant things... where was I?"

Due to similarities between both worlds adventurers embarked on yet another journey seeking out another World Stone within Halogas hoping for something different than what they had already experienced twice before.

Perhaps these two worlds are simply too alike because once again they found another World Stone leading them towards yet another identical third-world experience: migration followed by large-scale exploration. These adventurers seemed to be in competition with God, determined to find a world that was different from the previous three. Thus they stepped into Halogas of this third world...

Akala coughed bitterly and her eyes gradually reddened as she spoke, her voice filled with sorrow and desolation while her gentle expression turned dark and resentful.

"Damn it! They succeeded! They finally found a world different from the previous three but...but..."

"But what awaited them were countless demons - inhabitants of that cursed third-world World Stone which connected directly to Hell!"

"These adventurers hastily retreated, attempting to destroy the World Stone but its durability far exceeded their imagination. In the end, they couldn't even scratch it. Then came five major demons: Andalia who ruled over misery and torment; Andalai who ruled over pain; followed by three demon gods above them all: Mephisto who ruled over hatred; Diablo who ruled over fear; and Baal who ruled over destruction leading an army of demons surging forth from Hell."

"They discovered life here was weak compared to theirs, yet these lands were fertile with abundant sunshine and pleasant climate not much different than Heaven itself. Compared to magma-filled hellish landscapes this place was like an open paradise..."

"The adventurers knew they had made a big mistake. In order to make up for their fault, they took the initiative to resist the power of hell. However, the strength of hell was beyond their ability to resist!"

"So what happened in the end? Did hell occupy the Third World?"

I asked eagerly. If what Akara said was true, then history had completely deviated from the dark background in the game. What lay before me was a completely new and unfamiliar world, which meant that I could no longer rely on any advanced information to gain an advantage.

"No," Akara shook her head. "At a critical moment, angels broke through the seal between heaven and Diablo continent and saved a one-sided situation."

At this point, even fools could feel sarcasm in her tone.

"However, angels came to our land through special means and couldn't stay long on Diablo continent because their abilities couldn't be replenished there. Therefore, they couldn't play a decisive role in battle but only guided creatures on Diablo continent against hell's forces with all their efforts."

"In the battle for Third World under angelic leadership combined with desperate efforts by Diablo's forces, although Diablo's side was at a great disadvantage, it managed to withstand Hell's power invading into Third World."

"Shortly thereafter, things took a turn when Andariel and Duriel led four demon kings launched rebellion against Mephisto - their superior among three demon gods - causing chaos within Hell’s forces.”

“Angels saw an opportunity and gave us three soul stones so we could seal away three demon gods while all living beings on Diablo Continent fought desperately together with us. Among them emerged one of greatest figures – wizard Tal Rasha who single-handedly sealed away Baal among three demon gods – his contribution is immeasurable.”

"This counterattack by Diablo Continent became known as Original Sin War - second only to Armageddon War in terms of fame and brutality in history."

Akara's voice became passionate when she mentioned Tal Rasha. It seemed that this great wizard named Tal Rasha was indeed worthy of his reputation.

"Afterwards, humans launched a total offensive against Hell and finally gained the upper hand for the first time.”

"However, after thousands of years of war, just as humans thought victory was within reach, three demon gods suddenly broke through their seal and reappeared in this world. Diablo Continent's advantage was instantly broken."

"The fortunate thing amidst misfortune was that the three demon gods had just been released from their seal and were still very weak. In addition to retaliating against four demon kings who dared to challenge them, they also began fighting among themselves. This situation has continued until now..."

"Well... young man, my story ends here," Akara said as if abandoning all her emotions from before and returning to her cheerful self.

I unconsciously nodded while my mind rapidly analyzed what Akara had said.

In fact, there were still many questions left unanswered such as why angels suddenly appeared when hell's army emerged? Was it a coincidence or something else? Also, why did angels give us three soul stones instead of earlier? Why only three stones instead of five? And how could the sealed away three demon gods escape from soul stones later on? There were too many questions involved here.
