Chapter 21:Prepare to practice

Chapter 21:Prepare to practice

As the bar door creaked open, a long shadow cast by the setting sun stretched in. Doug seemed to sense something and threw down his rag, turning around forcefully.

"You finally came back, you little brat! You made me go without talking for over an hour!" Doug charged towards me aggressively, slapping my shoulder hard while using his raspy voice to torture my ears.

"Um...sorry about that. I went out for a bit and got lost. I just got back." I wiped my eyes and pursed my lips, clearly unimpressed with Doug's "friendly" greeting.

"What's wrong? Wu, did something happen?" Doug noticed my unusual behavior and asked curiously. It seems he can be attentive at times too.

"Nothing." I wiped my eyes again. "The sunset today is really dazzling!"

"Haha...Wu, are you staring at the sunset all this time?" Doug burst into laughter. Mocking me doesn't matter but couldn't he keep it down a bit? Does he have to subject me to both mental and physical torment? Just moments ago I was moved almost to tears!

"Oh yeah, where's Guff?"

To stop Doug from continuing his ear-torture session on me, I had no choice but to ask him what was on my mind earlier.

"He went looking for you; he's been searching for quite some time now so he should be back soon."

Damn it! He just finished beating up on me and now wants to make me feel touched? No way! Not even if there were doors or windows!

Doug and I randomly picked a table and sat down. When Doug sat down facing towards me instead of beside me as usual, it put me in a dilemma about where best to sit myself.

If sitting next to him then one must endure his noise bombardment; if sitting opposite him then one has to withstand his saliva baptism. After much thought, I cautiously chose to sit at a 120-degree angle from him, thinking this position should be the most ideal.

Unfortunately, things didn't go as planned. Doug sat down and turned his face towards me, spewing countless nonsense mixed with flecks of saliva like a torrential flood. I was speechless and on the verge of tears. If only I had chosen to sit directly opposite him!

Soon after, just when I was about to succumb to Doug's bombardment, our savior Guff finally arrived. What a great guy! He'll definitely become the hero who saves the Dark Continent in the future! My eyes welled up with tears.

Guff glanced over at someone lying on the table almost dying from Doug's attack and smiled slightly.

"Guff, you're finally back!"

I immediately rushed forward as if greeting a central leader during an inspection tour and grabbed Guff's big hand tightly with both hands.

"Welcome welcome! Warmly welcome..."

Oops...I accidentally said my catchphrase from my previous world out loud.

"Where did you go just now?" Guff also sat down curiously; he had practically circled around all of Log Camp looking for me.

"Oh...I stayed by the fountain for a while."

"No wonder..." Guff thought I got lost (which is true) but little did he know that I was so close to the bar that it wasn't even funny.

Seeing no one else around us, we left the bar together since Guff had already found us a hotel room while searching for me earlier - what a thoughtful guy! The place is called Dream Inn; according to Guff it may not be Log Camp's most luxurious hotel but their service is particularly warm and attentive which makes them very popular among job changers.

The first floor of Dream Inn is its restaurant where upon entering we were greeted warmly by an overweight middle-aged man. The waiters inside all had natural smiles on their faces, not a hint of artificiality to be found. Clearly they were well-trained.

I couldn't help but admire the owner's forward-thinking mentality; in this war-torn continent, there aren't many people who think about improving staff quality instead of relying solely on luxurious decorations. It seems that the first five-star hotel in the Dark Continent may not be so far away after all.

The bar didn't fill our stomachs, we were all starving. Especially Doug, whose stomach had been rumbling like thunder since the beginning. Even with his thick skin, he couldn't help but blush.

We immediately found a table at the restaurant and ordered a full table of food. To be honest, it was my first time eating something hot since arriving in this dark world. Along the way, we only ate Doug's dried meat which easily became boring due to its dry taste.

After drinking some meat soup, it wasn't bad. Although it still wasn't as good as in our original world, at least they knew to add some seasoning to remove the gamey flavor.

After finishing off the entire table of food, we patted our bellies and went back to our own rooms. I had been walking all day and thinking about everything that happened today made me mentally exhausted - from returning to Log Campsite to meeting little Lolita Linya, blind Akara, blacksmith beauty Chaxi and even bug talismans - my emotions fluctuated greatly throughout the day. Quietly recalling everything that happened today once again made me unable to resist fatigue invading me deeply into my dreams.

The tale has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.

I slept until noon on the second day before stumbling out of my room unexpectedly seeing Doug also coming out of his room looking dazed; we smiled knowingly at each other feeling like kindred spirits.

When I got down to the dining hall for lunch already sat there was Guff who truly lived up to being a barbarian.

"Doug and Guff," I said with a piece of cooked fragrant meat in my mouth "I want go alone for training in wasteland."

Doug and Guff looked at each other briefly before saying: "Wu are you sure you can handle going alone? Maybe try finding more people so you have better chances." They weren't trying stop me but rather suggesting that going out to train was something every job changer must experience. Caged birds will eventually lose their ability to fly.

"Forget it, I've asked around and there won't be any new job changers in the next few months. Where can I find new people to team up with?" Seeing their worried expressions, it was clear they weren't comfortable with me going alone even though they themselves had gone out for training during their first time as a group of four or five newcomers.

"It's okay, don't forget I have this wooden stick and you guys taught me many skills these past few days. My advantage is already much greater than those newcomers'. Even if I go alone, as long as I'm careful enough, I believe that I can handle it."

I said leisurely while thinking to myself: And also with the bug talisman protecting me, if everything goes smoothly and level up successfully learning a skill then even against you three brothers we could fight for a while.

The barbarian brothers whispered together before Doug finally spoke: "Alright dear Wu, we won't stop your right to do so. Good luck!"

Guff nodded beside him sincerely looking at me saying: "Wu take this gift from us."

As I prepared to leave Doug walked over and said: "Take this too." He pulled out a black tent from his personal storage space.

"This was given to me by my teacher. Now, I'm giving it to you and wishing you good luck!" Doug patted my shoulder with a look that I couldn't refuse.

"Good brother." I patted the shoulders of the two barbarian brothers. In this world where strength is everything, only they could treat me so well.

"Good brother." They also patted my shoulder, even Goff who usually had a stern face was excited.

I didn't say anything else and turned around, walking out of the hotel under the gaze of the two brothers.

Men's friendship doesn't need too many words but can make people feel passionate.

Firstly, I needed to go to the square and wear the small talisman on myself. Although I couldn't use its most powerful +7 skill yet, just adding critical hit rate and experience points made me grin from ear to ear.

Soon enough, that huge prism-shaped crystal appeared in my sight.

It seemed like some people who saw me embarrass myself yesterday were here again today with disdainful and hostile looks in their eyes.

I paid no attention because this was a world where strength spoke for itself. And one day when I stood at the peak of power, all these people would bow down before me singing praises and offering their devotion at my feet.

It seemed like yesterday's inner demons still affected me as thoughts about living an easy life in seclusion crept into my mind without realizing it. But it didn't matter as long as it stayed within my control range. Men should have ambition and dominance; otherwise others might think we're easy targets for bullying.

Approaching the crystal quietly, I opened up storage box silently. The small talisman which was thrown aside hastily during yesterday's chaos lay there quietly in one corner like an unactivated divine weapon waiting for its master's arrival.

I picked it up gently while trembling uncontrollably but fortunately after going through yesterday's test, I wouldn't lose my mind because of its power anymore. After examining it carefully for a few moments, I put it solemnly into my inventory. The moment I let go of it, its ability was officially released. Not sure if it was an illusion or not but I felt a lightness throughout my body as if a strong and vigorous warm current flowed through every bone and muscle in me while emitting a faint white light from all over my body. Looking around, no one seemed to notice the strange phenomenon on me so maybe it was just my imagination.

Then, I easily found a sword in another corner - a pure crystal sword that shone like the most perfect piece of art imaginable unlike the small talisman which was plain and unremarkable. But since yesterday's incident had already scared me silly with the talisman, I didn't pay attention to its radiance at that time.

The entire blade of the crystal sword is made of pure crystal, sparkling and translucent with a faint blue dreamlike hue. The blade is wrapped in several thin blood-red lines that connect from the tip to the hilt, emitting a strange and bloodthirsty aura. The hilt is relatively long and carved from yellow diamond, embedded with a blood-red gemstone resembling the pupil of a demon's eye, causing one's heart to chill even before battle. The connection between the hilt and blade is seamless as if they are one entity. This sword resembles an art of slaughter, exuding an intoxicating majesty with irresistible charm that makes it impossible for anyone to resist holding it in their hand.

Without a doubt, I couldn't resist the temptation and involuntarily grabbed the sword handle. However, when I tried to pick it up with all my strength, the sword didn't move at all.

"Hmm?"

I woke up in a cold sweat. Fortunately, it seemed that I couldn't even bear the weight of the sword. Otherwise, I might have been controlled by it just now. This is truly a devil's sword.

I held my breath and tried to keep myself awake. Looking at this sword again, although I was still unable to pick it up, its attributes were visible. After half a month had passed and countless thrilling events had occurred during that time period, I had long forgotten about the properties of this space blade that I personally made.
