Chapter 7: Bounties

From the upper corner of his left view, Troy appeared on a small screen...

[Hey, Ax, thanks for bringing me to a health stop.]

"Nah man, it was necessary."

[Still, by the way] After struggling for a second, Troy continued...

[Raze seemed eager to do another mission. What say you?]

Axis narrowed his eyes and looked at Troy. "Are you sure it's Raze that wants to do a mission or you?'"

[Hahaha, as they say, it's better to strike the iron while it's still hot.]

Despite being the hacker of the trio, Troy was the most hotheaded of the group, and while he doesn't need to go up front and his shooting stinks, he still chooses to do so.

"Think I'm going to lay low these couple of days, you know, do some bounty here and there, and train my skills."

[Alright.. hit me up if you're up to something big then.]

"Of course"

The call ended, and he went to the armory to grab some pistols with microbullets.

Well, they weren't that small, but the bullets were only a bit bigger than a pellet used in a toy gun. But despite its pretty small caliber, it has the same lethality as the pistol he was familiar with back on earth.... which he was still hazy.. At this point, he wasn't sure if he was Axis Smith or the one from Earth anymore. Thankfully, he doesnt feel any discomfort from his personality as it is.

The advantage of the gun was that the gray and silver futuristic pistol he was carrying could carry a capacity of 35 bullets in a small magazine.

The downside was that there were already many things in this world that could block them, so they were considered beginner gun. Same as with the misery he used yesterday.

Still, put a couple of bullets on a bare human body, and they'll still die.

Tucking it under his bulletproof jacket. He set off for a certain bar.

David's Blue Street was the territory of the crimson fang. It spans several blocks. He headed to one particular block where a bar can be found in the middle.

This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere.

[Odyssea]

He went in, and in the middle of the bar was a counter with a thin but good-looking man with blonde hair and clean clothes behind it.

Seeing him, Axis eyes instinctively narrowed... The bartender noticed this and could not help but let out a dry chuckle.

"Seriously, Ax, when are you going to accept it?"

Axis then replied with what he usually says "I mean, it doesn't make sense. The other gang's bounty fixer is always a beautiful chick, but us..."

"Well, fuck off."

"So.." Ax said as he sat on a stool.

"Any interesting bounty you got?"

"Planning to do some small stuff first before the big ones again..."

Harold was the bounty fixer of the gang; he could have just called him to get the list of bounties available, but he wanted to move around.

"Yeah, I heard what happened."

"It's evident in your hair," Harold said with a smirk.

Ax rolled his eyes and responded:

"Wanna hear my tales?"

"Piss off"

Then Harold handed him a drink; he wasn't really interested but took a shot anyway.

"If you're interested, the cat is still missing."

Ax put down the glass and said, "Really? It's been almost three weeks now; cat's have got to be dead by now if they haven't found it already."

"Whether it's dead or not doesn't matter; what matters is that the reward increased," Harold said as he was wiping some glass.

"How much?"

"2000 credits"

"Well, sh*t, rich brats, really..."

The cat they were talking about wasn't some kind of code word but an actual cat. And in this day and age, owning a pet means you must be loaded.

"No wonder Odyssea is mostly empty; fuckers still hope they can find it," Ax said after observing the near-empty place.

Still, he couldn't blame them; he and the other gang members also tried to do the job in the first week before giving up.

"People can hope. Here's the list. Though I hope you won't be bored by them because of your previous experience."

Harold gestured something from the air, and lists of bounties appeared just in front of Ax.

'Sure is conveninent..' Axis thought seeing the floating panel-like window in front of him. well, in front of his left eye.

The Cobalts were their neighboring gang. Crimson fang has an on-and-off relationship with them.

It seems someone offended their members and wanted to get some help to settle something.

Though, currently, the Cobalts and the fangs were in an amicable relationship, it could blow off anytime, so this was a dangerous job.

He set aside this job and looked for something he could do quickly, finally deciding to settle on...
