[Hey, I got the message. Sorry for calling late. Are you okay? I didn't expect a simple bounty mission to cause such a mess.]
"It was the client's fault, and I handled it."
[Of course, you're tougher than that and.. Fieww! A car, eh? hehe]
Axis saw his brother whistled and smirk, he flashed the same smile.
"Indeed, hehehe, you should see it in person; she ain't much, but I got her through hard work."
[I wish I could see it now; have you taken it to Vyk to have a look?]
Axis smiled bitterly upon hearing that and told his brother what Vyck told him.
[Well, it isn't that bad; besides, we'll get a better one in the future.]
"Definitely."
[Still, it would be a shame not to use it to our hearts content before it broke down, right?]
"That's what I was thinking."
[Well, talk to you later; I still have something going on.]
"Alright"
The call ended, and Axis drove to the Odysea bar again.
Current Exp: 273
He gained a whopping 100 exp for that protection job. Though it had gone bad, at least he survived and reaped the profits.
He thought of being able to survive... He touched his seat underneath, where he hid his protective suit.
If it weren't for it, he'd have a few bullet wounds on his leg already, but the part where he got shot still hurts because the bullets weren’t able to penetrate it. He had already injected some light anesthetic juice into him moments ago so he could ignore the pain.
It seems his decision was right.
Now he only needed protective gear for his head, and then he could go guns blazing.
The story has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.
It seems he needed to add something to the things he accidentally found in the future.
Maybe two sets of protective suits along with some headgear are enough?
The thing is, if possible, he planned to give the gang some duplicates as well. Who knows if the gear is chipped and traced; only the gang has enough tech and skilled people to handle it.
When he was about to pull over at the bar again, he didn’t stop and continued driving.
‘Might as well explore the city while at it."
The feeling of having wheels was great, so he thought of doing some exploration before trying to look for another bounty he could do.
Thinking of the bounty he always ended up with, his face couldn’t help but darken.
The bright and neon lights passed his face as he drove off.
He looked up front and wondered what kind of trouble he would find himself in on his next BPIMTU mission.
Then he slowed down, as traffic was ahead. He frowned, and he heard a head propulsion sound coming from the air as he propped his head out of the window.
"Halos? Seems like someone's causing chaos up something ahead."
Just as he mumbled that, a loud explosion occurred about a hundred meters in front of him.
"Shit… Right…"
That’s right, this was Neodurn City, where trouble arose from one place to another. Thinking of what NOPs face every day, he felt a little bit better.
"I've got to install some music on this thing."
Axis smiled as I fiddled with the dead radio. He still wasn't worried and believed the badgers could handle it. Bored, he tried to surf the net when he saw something small flying and hitting one of the halos up front.
Bog!
"Oh shit!" He cursed out loud as he hurriedly reversed his car. The halo was only 10–15 meters away from him; he didn’t want to get involved in the conflict.
Bang!
His car hit the one at his back, and Axis shouted, "Drive back!"
It seems the people also didn’t want to get involved, as they hurriedly pulled the breaks and reversed.
He managed to reverse more than ten meters back when he heard something crashing just in front of him. Axis turned his head up front and saw the burning Halo.
Bogbogbog!
Gunshots rang out from the inside before screaming came out, and then suddenly...
It was all quiet.
Axis slowly reversed and turned his car around while staring ahead.
Then…
Shign!
Shing!
Shing!
A sound of something being cut came out, and soon a man with mantis blades and an upgraded and mechanized body came out.
Axis felt chills creep out of his spine. Then, on the side of the crashed halo, a badger survived wearing standard protective gear and a large gun.
He pointed it at the upgraded human. Axis didn't plan to stay and watch the show, so he didn't dawdle any longer and turned around.
Then, from the corner of his eyes, he saw the upgraded human lunge at the badge with unreasonable speed; Axis' eyes couldn’t follow him!
Still, he hurriedly turned and then immediately drove off.
Luckily, the vehicles that were previously behind him have turned back as well, and since the road is wide, he has plenty of space to drive off.
When he was sure he was far away from the location, he couldn’t help but sigh in relief.
He realized the difference between him and that guy. Between them, the bottom feeders, and those who have power.
"Haah…"
He leaned back in the driver's seat, deeply sighing, lost in thought.
‘What do I want to achieve in this life of mine?’
