"Now I hope you ingrates can live up to your confidence; otherwise, I'll personally kick your ass and train you until you puke blood!"
'There it is,' Axis thought while standing still and hearing that familiar shout.
A man with a red beard, glowing blue eyes, and a bionic arm, about 1.9m tall, walked up to the trio.
By habit, they immediately line up.
"And you! I heard you've been causing trouble these few days! Do it in this mission, and I'll hang you upside down!"
Cohren, the gang training instructor, pointed at him, and he couldn't help but be stunned.
'Since when did I cause trouble? It's clearly because the mission! It's not my fault!'
Axis inwardly shouted but didn't say anything.
There was a reason there were only over 200 members of the gang. Not just anyone could join it.
They have to go through a series of training sessions to be able to pass.
Raze, unlike his huge stature, is one of the best drivers in the gang, he was one of the few that can match an AI in simulation.
While Troy, hotheaded as he is, can be considered a class 2 net hacker and technician. A nethacker is just basically another word for netrunner but for beginners. Of course, class 2 can already be considered high. Most of peoples security can only be at class 2, which means Troy can hack into the majority easily.
And him... Well, he specialized in eliminating enemies.
"Grab your gear! And troublemaker! Since you got such a fancy suit, I expect you to bulldoze the enemy with it!"
'Great plan..' Axist answered sarcastically and inwardly.
They then proceed to pick up some gear.
"Hey, Jackie!"
"Looking especially beautiful today."
"Yeah, something's different about you today... It's like, Your aura has elevated."
Aaandd they immediately buttered up to the blue-haired lady. Jackie was the equipment and weapons handler for the gang.
Whenever one needs to go on a mission, they go to her for equipment, and naturally, the worse the impression she has of you, the higher the chance she'll give you terrible equipment.
This text was taken from Royal Road. Help the author by reading the original version there.
Of course, usually she gives out adequate equipments but the trio has a penchant for trouble and so..
"I'm really curious how many hearts you've already broken."
"Yeah, mine is about to become one too."
Axis was about to say something as well, but he couldn’t help but shot a look at both of them, speechless at how shameless they were.
Naturally, Jackie was already used to this.
"For you... here"
She pointed at Raze and placed down a protective life suit-like jacket.
"Your aim stinks, but since you're mostly the driver, it's acceptable."
She pointed to an executioner that uses microbullets.
Raze wanted to say something but took it anyway.
Jackie grabbed some gear again and placed another protective jacket that looked like a life-saving jacket as well as other items.
"You'd be mainly supportive; I don't even want to give you some protective gear, but..." Jackie shrugged and didn't continue.
Seeing the pistol, the protective jacket, the scouting ball the size of a baseball and a class 2 grade laptop on the table, Troy couldn't help but open his mouth.
"Umm... Can I get something powerful? I mean, who knows, there might be more of them now; wasn't the last intelligence we knew about them just yesterday? Who knows-"
But Jackie cut him off.
"I'll count to 5 seconds if you don't take it, and then you'd be going without them."
"This is enough; thank you very much!"
When it was Axis turn, he hurriedly said...
"Can I get armor-piercing guns? I brought my own gun, you see?"
Axis pointed at the misery he strapped to his back,
"So I was hoping to get something more powerful."
Jackie eyed him, and Axis was nervous seeing this. Then she turned around to get something.
Axis sighs in relief, as this is was a good sign. He waited for a few moments before Jacki placed a rifle-like gun on the table.
It was about 50cm long; it looked like it was mechanized and was scopeless.
"Here, there should be no problem penetrating ordinary armor."
Seeing this, Axis couldn't help but smile, "Great!"
But then Jack placed bullets on the table and said...
"You get 5 bullets."
"What? What if there were more enemies?"
"Then use your own gun."
Axis brought the misery because he planned to show he didn't need guns that use microbullets but something powerful.
"You can't expect me to shoot an enemy with each bullet, right? There's like ten of 'em in there!"
"Then aim better."
"How about just giving me four bullets more?"
"No"
"Come on! You probably heard my history these few days... Chances are there are probably more enemies there than we know!"
"...2 bullets"
After a series of haggling, Axis managed to obtain 3 more bullets, allowing him to get 8 armor-penetrating ammo.
"Wait, where's my armor?"
He asked Jackie, but it was Troy and Raze that answered.
"Unbelievable!"
"You're already covered in armor, and you want more?"
They looked at him with irrational eyes.
Axis saw this scoff and said for the third time today, " I told you, it's not my fault you didn't join me in the search bounty just because you thought it'd be boring."
Seeing his sour expression, Axis couldn't help but laugh.
"Hahahah"
They were also given two flashgrenades and a shock bomb and some extra microbullets.
"Enough! Get to the car now! You! I hope you showed improvement in your driving skills, or I'll drag you behind the car with a rope!"
Cohren shouted at them, and they immediately went to the vehicle. He sat at the back with Cohren while Troy sat in the passenger seat.
"What's the plan, sir?"
Raze asked as he started the vehicle, and they drove off from the warehouse.
Cohren smirked upon hearing the question and crossed his arms.
"Didn't you guys want to do this by yourselves?" Well, I'm giving you the full control of the mission, Do as you like... Just don't expect me to come rescue you when things get out of hand."
