Chapter 3: Crimson Fang

Chapter 3: Crimson Fang

It took only less than 30 minutes before they reached their base. Seeing the familiar, seeing the run-down buildings and people, a feeling of security welled up in his chest.

"Heheh, wait till they hear our story! Finally, something to tell that old man bishop so he could shut up."

Raze spoke as if he were returning from war. Soon, he drove them to a large, dilapidated warehouse.

"Shit. Did it go that bad? "

"huh? Who attacked us?"

"Didn't you hear? Delivery went bad"

"Whoever they are, they've got guts."

People of different statures, punk-style clothing, holding executioners, and some blasters welcomed them back as they gathered around the battered vehicle, muttering pervading the area.

"Yow Raze, You didn't embarrass the gang, right?"

"Crazy... Ax, what happened exactly?"

"Hey.. your hair.. pfft!"

Ax and Raze were bombarded with their words as soon as they got out of the vehicle. One particularly caught his attention as he eyed him, and the guy immediately shut his mouth.

"Hahaha! Nothing is impossible just--"

"Shit happened, but we still got the job done."

Ax cut Raze off as he was just about to brag.

"We got an injured here!"

One of their gang members noticed the unconscious Troy at the back and immediately called for help.

"He's fine; he just needs to rest."

Still, they grabbed him and brought him to the gang's medical room.

"Boss wants to see you."

Just as Raze was happily telling their story and Ax was listening on with a smile...

A woman with blue hair tied in a ponytail, wearing tight pants, a revealing top, and piercings on her nose and lips, appeared...

Ax and Raze looked at each other and followed after.

"Well, boys, I'll leave you the bedtime stories later. Hahaha."

"Piss off"

"Just one car chase and you'll already be proud?"

If you spot this tale on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.

"Hahaha"

Ax couldn't help but roll his eyes at Raze... then he thought of something...

"Jackie, where's... my brother?"

Ax felt awkward mentioning the word 'brother', but as the words left his mouth the awkwardness disappeared.

Jackie, the name of the blue-haired lady, said without turning her head...

"He's off on a mission; he should be back in a few hours."

"Alright..."

Ax has a brother in this life—his only family. Despite having memories of the original Ax, he still felt embarrassed thinking about interacting with him, so he was glad he didn't get to meet him immediately.

Soon they were led to an office-like room. A man with pushback red hair, a clean red jacket, black pants, and a bionic arm sat at the desk in the center of the room. Nikola Croan, the boss of the Crimson Fang, their leader.

"You did a good job."

He immediately said seeing them. His eyes were dark blue, but, as Ax knew, both of them were already replaced by implants, so he could change their color to whatever he wanted.

"Hehe, thanks, boss, but that client..."

"I already talked to him, and he gave some compensation for the false the level of danger."

"Phew. Thanks, boss."

"Now tell me the story. How did you get attacked?"

Then they proceeded to tell what happened. When it got to the end, the boss couldn't help but glance at him.

"You guys handled it well. I'm sorry I didn't get to send some backup.

"It's okay, chief, we understand, and besides, we handled it," Ax said shrugging. They did call for help, but they weren't expecting much.

Crimson Fang can only be considered a midsize gang. With only a bit over 200 members and limited resources.

The vehicle they used was one of the gang's properties. With the other members doing missions like his brother, they certainly couldn't send any backup.

The boss nodded and gestured something in the air, His eyes glowed a bit.

"I've sent you the payment, as well as a little extra. Go and rest."

Ax and Raze took out their credit chip, which looked like a small lighter and had a small screen in the middle.

Ax put his thumb on the side, and a number showed up...

[120 credits have been deposited into your account.

Total balance: 803 credits...]

He earned a total of 120 credits for the job. To know how much 120 credits are. A single nutrigram costs 10 credits, which is enough to fill one's body for a day, which means 120 credits can let you live for 12 more days.

Of course, one doesn't only need nutrigrams to be able to stay sane in this world. Still, it was a big amount.

"Thank you, boss!"

"Thanks, chief"

Soon, they left the room.

"Hey, let's go grab ourselves a drink!" Raze invited him, but Ax shook his head.

"I gotta fix myself up first, and I've got to take care of something."

"Suit yourself! Call me up though if you change your mind."

"I won't"

After that, Ax went to say hello to the other members and walked out of the warehouse.

Walking out onto the sidewalk, he saw people up close with all kinds of styles. He even saw some people with gold and blue skins.

He slowly walked to his apartment while hiding the fact that he was inwardly surprised by everything.

He wanted to try something.

Soon he got into the entrance of the building, which was 30 stories tall.

It was a mess inside, with junk and mechanic parts lying around.

With familiarity, he went to the elevator.

"Yow, Ax! Heard you run into some trouble... what happened to your hair?!"

Ax turned around and saw a person coming towards him as the elevator doors were about to close. The mention of his hair made him twitch his mouth.

He had been avoiding thinking about it, and the members were 'nice' enough not to mention it, but...

Ax hurriedly pushed the button to close the elevator doors.

"Hey wait!" But he was too late, and the doors closed.

Ax sighed in relief. Soon they reached the 17th floor, and he got out of the elevator.

He went to room 1704, passed the identification security, and got inside.

What greeted him was a 30 sq. m. room; there were two beds arranged in a capsule-like manner to the side, a pretty small living room, and a room to the side as well as the bathroom.

There wasn't even a kitchen; there was no need to anyway.
