Rune opened the door to find three people panting and a large box that was over three times the size of Rune on his porch. One of the three men spoke.
“Here is the reward as promised from the king.”
The three men left and Rune was left on the porch with a huge box. He put it into his storage and moved it into the lab. He placed the box upright and opened the lid.
Inside were two letters and something long wrapped in cloth. There was also a huge bag of multiple things. Rune opened both of the two letters and read them.
“Hello Marquis Rune,
It has come to my attention that you are a force greater than any other in this world. It seems that there are many organizations out to capture you, so be wary. You have likely created some defense mechanisms to protect you and your family, but I recommend moving out. I have hired several contractors to help build a wonderful place to live in on the Shimmering Plains.
Do not worry. Your staff will be the same, but you can do whatever you want within the property itself. You are allowed to build anything that you wish as long as it is within your budget of one million gold pieces. Don’t worry. Whatever you don’t use for building will be given to you.
Sincerely,
King Leo Regis Domini”
The second letter actually contained a map of the area in which the building would be built in. There was also a small note saying that they should be ready to build in a couple days, but Rune needed to meet up with the contractors as soon as he could.
Then he put aside the two letters and opened the bag. Inside was a lot of gold coins with a small letter saying that this was the reward for defeating five out of seven demon king candidates. He counted it all up to about three thousand gold coins.
Then he placed it all in his storage and unwrapped the thing in cloth.
It was a long spear that was made of gold. It had jewels embedded into the spear head. There was a note on it saying that this spear was known as Gungnir.
Apparently it had several abilities. Its two powerful traits were to shapeshift one’s form and create illusions. The shapeshifting actually kept the user’s soul, but morphed their physical body without illusions.
The illusions that it could create are auditory, visual, and smells as well as touch. Essentially, all senses except taste could be produced.
Rune absorbed Gungnir and gained the ability to shapeshift into any humanoid race as well as gained the magic, [Masterful Illusion]. His new found shapeshift allowed him to turn into a human, but he could not choose its features.
He moved out of the lab and walked towards Sophia who was snoozing on the sofa in the living room. She was curled up in a ball and was making soft breaths as she breathed. Rune carefully shook her awake.
“W-what?”
“Huh?! You can?! Great!! Let me see!!”
She snapped out of her sleepy state and sat upright. She was looking at Rune expectantly as he used the shapeshift skill to turn into a human.
He used the skill and it seemed like nothing changed. His armor was still there, but, in reality, Rune had turned into a human, but only his red energy-like thing inside the armor had. He could now take off his armor, but, as soon as he becomes a Cursed Armor again, he would automatically be in the suit of armor.
Rune took off his helmet and Sophia could see Rune’s human face. She gasped in happiness as she saw a man with a good looking face. His irises in his eyes were a blood red and his hair was snow white with black highlights at the tips.
“I wonder if I can…! I can speak!!”
“Yay!!!”
Sophia pushed the books off of her and jumped onto Rune who was still surprised. The only problem now was that he was not sure if he could survive being stabbed in the face now.
He still retained the condition immunities of Dark, Psychic, and Poison attacks and was sure that those three were resistances that the Demon King had. But he also regained his need to eat, sleep, rest, and breath.
“This is pretty cool. Ah, but first I need some clothes…”
Sophia dragged him to the lab where she entered. After a couple seconds, she came out holding dark colored clothes. There was a pair of pants, a shirt, and a long jacket that went down to his knees.
The pants had a belt on it with several pouches and even two sheaths for knives. The shirt was like a t-shirt with a grey color and golden outlines for a design. The design was something from Norse mythology known as the Triple Horn of Odin. It looked like three horns with a dragon design inside each horn and they were overlapping each other. This design was placed in the center of the shirt.
The symbol was the physical sign of commitment and wisdom. On his jacket was two pauldrons that were just large enough for Rune to put over his shoulders.

Rune gratefully accepted the clothes and took them to his room. He came back after a moment and was now wearing the clothes. He had put his armor into his storage, but had kept his greaves and gauntlets on his hands and feet.

Apparently, there were many people transferred from another world in the past. About one thousand people were moved from Rune’s first world, Earth, but did not receive any skills or cheats. Among the thousand, there were three people who had much knowledge of Norse mythology which allowed for myths to be known as small fairy tales. People were apparently brought during different time periods with the Celtic, Nordic, Medieval, etc. being from different eras. The only similarity was that they had not yet developed guns or weapons using gunpowder.
When others came, they brought more knowledge of different religions and stories. This resulted in the birth of what used to be legendary weapons from Earth being true relics in Arborea. Thus why many symbols appeared as well.
Gungnir was one of those weapons as well as Excalibur, Zeus’s Lightning Bolt, Gram, etc. None of their gods had come to Arborea, but they were certainly busying themselves with Earth. Many of the weapons were made as their descriptions had decided their abilities and most were in possession by the Human and Elf continents.
Rune stretched his arms and yawned for the first time since he had come to this world and he was happy. Although, not as happy as Sophia who was talking about what things they could do together now.
“Ah, but first…”
Sophia embraced Rune and gave him a kiss on the lips before letting him go. She looked into his eyes with a wry grin on her face.
Suddenly, a small voice appeared out of nowhere and the couple turned their heads.
“Ah!! Who are you!!!”
It was Roxana who was too surprised to speak in her regular style of speaking. She was pointing at Rune who was still being gripped by Sophia.
“Now now, Roxana. This is papa. Rune just gained the ability to become human.”
“Wha?! Papa?!”
“Ahh… Yep. It’s me. Oh. It feels so strange being able to talk after three months…”
Roxana calmed down and started to speak in her usual style.
“...Papa...You could talk before?”
“Ah, um. Yes, it was before my original body was...I probably shouldn’t say this to a child…”
Suddenly Rena came around the corner and pointed at Rune.
“Ahhh!!!! Who are you?!?! Why do you have master’s gauntlets and greaves?!?!”
She grabbed her two kamas from her waist and leaped at Rune, but he dodged easily. It seemed that his stats stayed the same. He lifted his leg and Rena tripped as she flew by him.
“I would think that you would recognize your master even when he changes into a human. My my, how disappointing.”
He put his hand on his face and slightly shook his head from side to side while chuckling.
“M-master!!??”
“Anyways, come on you three. We need to go build that new building.”
“What!?”
All three of them asked at the same time and he sighed. Then he smiled as he could now sigh.
“Ahhh. It’s been far too long since I actually sighed. Right now, we are going to meet up with some contractors to build our new home as well as a place for me to teach new students.”
“So you plan on making competition for the spot of number one student…”
“...Sure? I just wanted to teach people about multiple different fighting styles so that they can get stronger. Apparently, humans, elves, and beast folk are not as powerful as they were during the last Demon King attack. I gotta get them ready for anything, like another Demon King or the apocalypse.”
“Aren’t you the Demon King?”
“Ah! Your right! I should ask Ena if there would be anyone who would want to be my student. Majin are very patient and learn pretty easily.”
“N-no. I think that is just me…”
----------------------------------------
Currently, Rune was going to go to the Shimmering Plains to see the contractors. He had brought the others along because they would be building a place to live there together as well as where Rune would build his school to teach people about his techniques.
He was actually quite excited when he got the money to do so as well as the Gungnir he got and his new human form. He also wanted to try his Majin form, but decided that he would do it later in the lab. Right now, his only objective was the school.
He eventually reached the designated place and he saw a flat area with many people around a table. There were many wooden planks and materials all around.
There was a man who particularly stood out from the crowd. He was carrying a sheet of paper and was sitting in a chair. He was the only one who was wearing dark clothing while everyone else wore white t-shirts. The man turned towards Rune who was walking up to them and stood up.
“Are you the contractee?”
Rune was took far away to actually speak and he did not want to yell like what the man did. Also, it was apparent to him that one of his defining traits was telepathy.
“So you are Rune, huh? I thought you only wore armor.”
“So what d’ya have in mind?”
----------------------------------------
“I see! I would like to send my children there!”
“Yes, but my children need to learn how to survive in this world and you seem to be teaching them about things other than just fighting. It is a miracle to find a place that can teach math and literature for free.”
Rune had already become the buddy of the architect, His name was Ulf and was married to an elf, Kyla. Rune was talking to Ulf about the school project that he had.
Apparently, there were only two schools in the capital for the elite to go and learn magic or swordsmanship. Rune had decided to create a school to learn math and how to read when Ulf was talking about how there weren’t many good schools to learn the humanities, things like literature, history, art, and culture, and that his children should learn about them and math.
The most complex math in Arborea was calculus, but only twenty people in the Human continent knew it and most only knew addition and subtraction. For literature, people knew how to speak, but not read.
“It’s fine. You will provide food and rooms for them, right?”
----------------------------------------
After two months, Rune was standing in front of his new school. His home was to the right of the school next to the dormitories. The school itself was in the center of the land and there was a huge barrack and training ground to the left.
Rune found himself on a stage with Rena by his side. With his back to the school, he looked at the 105 students in front of him.
He was standing behind a pedestal and was looking over the huge crowd of people. He had a piece of paper in front of him and cleared his throat.
“Hello, new students. You have been welcomed to the new school of Storveld known as The Academy of Learning and Fighting or ALF. You are here to learn fighting techniques and to learn math and literature to survive in the world. You will stay in the dorms here for four years. Currently, you are freshmen. Next year, you are sophomores, then juniors, then seniors. Let’s all aim for a great school year.”
Rune stopped talking and left the stage. He was really tired and wanted to rest as soon as he saw all the people. Apparently, he had now lost his resistance to sleeping and no oxygen so he had to sleep.
