"Mu Osseod, look around and let me know if you see any crystals," KiAera ordered.

Mu Osseod nodded, scanning its surroundings. It chirped when it spotted some light-blue crystals on the ground.

"Crystal, there, there," it said.

KiAera smiled. "Good job," she praised. "Can you bring them to me?"

Mu Osseod nodded and trotted over to the crystals, plucking them from the ground with its teeth. It brought them to KiAera, placing them at her feet. KiAera picked up one crystal and examined it, noting that it was about twice the size of her palm and shaped like a quartz. It had a bluish hue and appeared to glow faintly.

"This looks promising," she mused.

She placed the light-blue crystals into her satchel and continued searching for more.

"Thank you, Mu Osseod," she beamed.

Mu Osseod nodded. "Osseod, welcome."

KiAera wandered about the UvoSath Forest, gathering more light-blue crystals and other resources along the way. She came across various plants, fruits, and nuts, stuffing them into her satchel as well.

"Crystal, here, here," Pi Osseod said, pointing out some light-blue crystals on the ground.

"Thank you," KiAera replied, picking up the crystals and adding them to her collection.

After a while, she gathered a decent amount of crystals and other resources. She decided to call it a day; best to head back to the Crystal Shelter.

"All right, let's head back," she said. "I think we've got enough for now."

The Osseods chirped in agreement, turning around and following her through the forest. Her squad made their way through the thick foliage, keeping their eyes peeled for any potential threats.

KiAera's ears perked, noting that the crystalline UvoSathian trees in this area had a much more sinister appearance, with dark red vines and moss overtaking the surroundings. Her ears twitched once more as she listened to the sounds of birds, creatures, and buzzing insects all around them.

The atmosphere was alive with movement and life, but it also carried the underlying tension of danger. She felt like something was watching them, but she couldn't quite put her finger on it.

"Nu Osseod sniffs. Nu Osseod go for crystal!" Nu Osseod said, pointing with its crystalline snout.

KiAera nodded. "All right, let's go," she replied.

They changed directions, heading towards where the Nu Osseod had indicated. It led them to a small clearing filled with light-blue crystals.

"Crystal, there, there," Nu Osseod said and bounded off into the bushes.

"Beta Osseod follows Nu Osseod," Beta Osseod said, trailing after the other Osseod.

The story has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.

KiAera narrowed her eyes, scanning the area. She didn't see or hear anything out of the ordinary, but she couldn't shake the feeling that they were being watched.

"Nu Osseod, Beta Osseod come back," she called out.

There was no response.

The forest grew silent as if everything had stopped moving at once. KiAera felt the hairs on the back of her neck stand up, and she realized that something was very wrong.

"Nu, Beta Osseod!" she yelled.

Her voice echoed through the stillness, but there was no reply. Mu Osseod, who stood beside her, began to tremble.

"Nu Osseod, Beta Osseod..." Mu Osseod muttered.

KiAera took a deep breath and steeled herself. "We need to find them," she said, glancing around the clearing. "Maybe they got lost."

She stepped into the clearing, carefully making her way towards where the other Osseods disappeared. As she approached, she heard a faint rustling.

"Nu Osseod, Beta Osseod?" she called out, her ears twitching.

There was no response. The forest seemed to hold its breath as if waiting for something. KiAera continued forward, her heart beating faster with each step.

As she reached the center of the clearing, a dark figure emerged from the shadows. Just as she prepared to flee, an abrupt force seized her leg, halting her escape.

"Ravilash!" A shrill, maniacal laugh accompanied the creature's cackling. KiAera peered down to find herself ensnared—dangling upside down, her gaze meeting the unblinking stare of the Ravilash with its beady eyes.

"The hell? Is that... a Venus flytrap?" She whispered, questioning whether the creature before her was a monstrous plant or a plant-like monster.

The Ravilash's maw stretched wide, revealing rows of razor-sharp teeth. Its body pulsed as it drew her closer, its grip tightening. KiAera fought against its hold, straining to free herself. She could not move her ears or tail. Her Spectral Flame flickering weakly. It made her wince, her skin stinging from the entangling grip.

She guessed a type of toxin from the thorns pressing into her. Luckily none broke too deep past her fur.

Her gaze flickered to her spear, still strapped to her back.

She flicked her gaze back as the creature snapped at her face, but KiAera twisted herself just in time to narrowly evade having her face bitten off.

"You piece of shit! Don't you know I'm a friendly creature!" She yelled; her eyes wide at the creature's audacity.

It snapped again. It missed once more. Okay, now it pissed her off. KiAera spat fire, releasing spittle of her [Flare Flick] at the Ravilash's face. It flinched, burning slightly. That gave KiAera a moment of respite.

"Come on! Come on!" She grunted, tugging at her spear. Her retractable ears were ensnared, limiting her reach. The damn beast knew what it was doing!

Her ears felt like they would tear from the effort, and she felt tears sting her eyes. Finally, the spear fell into the full grasp of her ear's hand and the Ravilash's vine snapped with a sharp tug.

"Take this!" She yelled, thrusting her spear into the Ravilash's face.

The Ravilash let out a blood-curdling screech as it reeled backwards, releasing her leg. KiAera fell to the ground and rolled to her feet, facing the creature with her spear raised.

The Ravilash glared at her, its mouth twisting into a snarl. It lunged at her, and she dodged, slicing its side with her spear.

"Stay back!" she growled as she brandished her ears and spear.

"Ravalash! Ravalash!" The creature cackled madly, charging toward her with its mouth gaping open. It flung its vine-like appendages at her in succession, attempting to ensnare and harm her.

"You're not going to catch me again!" KiAera arced her ears through the air, and sliced through the vines connected to the creature's neck.

"Ravish!" The creature wailed in agony as it writhed and staggered back.

In a fit of rage, the Ravilash lunged once more, but KiAera spun out of harm's way. Mu Osseod appeared, spitting a crystal projectile into the plant-beast's side. With a screech of pain, the creature whipped its head around to glare at Mu Osseod.

"Bad idea to take your eyes off me. NOW DIE!" KiAera leapt and slashed the Ravilash across the chest, leaving a deep gash in its flesh.

The Ravilash gasped before collapsing onto the ground. Its vines writhed for a moment longer before going limp. KiAera stared at the creature for a few seconds, ensuring it was dead. The confirmation came when the creature burst into a mass of abyss particles, which she then siphoned into herself, absorbing its essence.

She took a deep breath, trying to steady her racing heart. Suddenly, her ears perked up at the sound of rustling leaves.

"Osseod! KiAera, help! Osseod, help!" The desperate cries of Beta Osseod reached her ears, mingled with sobs.

"Nu, Beta!" KiAera called out as her heart pounded with dread. She turned to Mu Osseod. "Follow me!"

She sprinted towards the noise, pushing through the undergrowth. She burst into another clearing, skidding to a halt as she found Beta Osseod and Nu Osseod surrounded by four Ravilashes.

Her pupils narrowed into slits as she witnessed the Ravilashes whipping their vines upon the cornered Beta and Nu Osseods. The Osseods were crying, their face wrinkled and scrunched in anguish. The Ravilashes laughed maniacally, their mouths stretched into wide grins as they attacked the little ones.

KiAera gritted her teeth and darted, swinging her spear. She sliced one of the Ravilashes' necks, severing it. The Ravilash shrieked as it fell to the ground, its vines convulsing.

"There's no turning back now..." she hissed at the remaining Ravilashes.
