2 Months Later
“Are you sure you don’t mind watching Leya on such short notice? I know I asked months ago, but I wasn’t sure when we’d be able to leave” My tia nods as we sit back on my couch, watching her telenovelas.
“Of course, you’ve been hogging my baby from me these past couple of months”.
“I have not, you’re welcome to come over whenever you want”.
“Mm, you and that wife of yours are worse than animals the way you go at it. Or do I have to remind you what happened last time?” I feel my face blush and laugh, clearly remembering my tia walking in on me and Jade in the kitchen. In my defense, it’s a rare sight seeing her cook and she looked good as hell, I couldn’t help myself.
“No, you don’t need to remind me, just call ahead and knock”. We both laugh before paying attention to the show as the drama begins to pick up. She fills me in along the way with details I don’t know until a commercial plays.
“So, is this trip considered your honeymoon?”
“Hm, not really. I mean our marriage is non-traditional so I never expected a honeymoon, however Jade did mention something about it a few times. We were so busy after our marriage and there was so much drama. Then the trial with Donovan took a lot longer than we thought, not to mention dealing with the press and the aftermath of work”.
“Well just in case, you pack anything…special for your trip?” I blush. Knowing she’s talking about lingerie.
“Yes, Karla and Taylor forced me to go shopping but I think it’s a bit too much. I’m not even sure Jade wants to go anywhere right now, let alone think about a honeymoon.”
“I’m sure she’ll appreciate her wife whisking her away to the country of luxury. I damn sure would”. My tia speaks loud enough for Enrique to hear as he comes into the living room, carrying 4 plates of food.
“Angel, please don’t plant any ideas in your tia’s head?” I laugh as he hands out the plates and I make sure Leya is sitting on her mat.
“Oh? Am I not good enough to take to Dubai?” Enrique smirks, hovering over my aunt and tilting her chin.
“Of course you are, but I’ve already planned to take you to Paris for your birthday”. That response has my aunt fawning and I look away to the TV as they kiss. I don’t want to see that. Luckily, my phone pings with messages from Imani, Nate, and the pilot, Lonnie.
“Everything is taken care of for the week, there will be no need for Mrs. Knight to work, per request”. I read Imani’s message first. I doubt Jade will completely disconnect from work but if I can get her to relax, I’ll call that a win. I don’t know how Imani managed to take care of everything, especially in a short amount of time, while under Jade’s watch. The girl is perfect at her job and sneakier than I thought. I’ll have to have her help me with more surprises for Jade in the future. Next I check the message from the pilot.
“The jet is fueled and ready for takeoff. The departure time is around 11:30 p.m and your E.T.A will be 9:30 a.m”. Perfect. I made sure to check in with Lonnie after A.J’s game today. Although I planned the trip months ago, I had to keep putting it off. I was about to give up on the idea of such a grand trip and plan for a date. But, I told myself that Jade would move anything around and do whatever she could if the roles were reversed.
She constantly goes out of her way for me and now I want to treat her the same. I’m being spontaneous and I hope it doesn’t backfire. Jade doesn’t strike me as the type to enjoy surprises, though I could be wrong. I never manage to surprise her because she’s so damn smart and intuitive. Not to mention her desire to always be in control, hardly anything gets past Jade.
“I have arrived at the office and will have your wife home soon. Everything is ready for your trip”. I smile and lean back on the couch, waiting for Jade to get home.
“Mija, you are glowing. I’ve never seen you this happy”. My smile widens at my tia’s assessment. How could I not be happy? I have my son in my life again, my daughter has everything she needs and more and I no longer have to stress about providing for her. My relationship with Jade seems to get stronger every day, even with our disagreements here and there. Work is going well and I’ve started this new venture with Billy that’s opening more opportunities than I ever imagined.
Not only am I a spokeswoman and model, I’m also a contributor of Tritea’s new alcohol beverages. I get a percentage of the sales and Billy is already talking about expanding into more flavors next year. Needless to say, I have absolutely nothing to complain about.
“I am happy, life hasn’t always been easy or stress free, but I feel like I’m on the right track. Everything has come together, I can’t complain at all. Also I can say the same for you, tia” I smirk glancing at Enrique who’s helping Leya eat her taco. My tia blushes and I raise my brow.
“What? I know that look”.
“He proposed to me last night” my tia whispers and I have to clamp a hand over my mouth to keep from squealing.
“Tia! What did you say?” I whisper and she laughs as I try to look at her hands.
“I asked to think about it. Marriage is a big step and we haven’t been together for a year”.
“And? Look tia, if you two love each other, there’s nothing wrong with getting married. I fully support you and I better be in the wedding too”.
“I haven’t said yes”.

“But you will, I know it. I can see it in your eyes” we both laugh, gaining Enrique’s attention.
“What are you two giggling about over there?” My tia and I exchange a glance before laughing and shaking our heads.
“Oh, nothing”. My tia continues telling me how Enrique proposed and we talk and watch TV until I hear the door open.
“Kitten” Jade calls for me in an accusatory tone and I can only laugh. I knew it was a matter of time before she caught onto my secret planning.
“I still can’t believe you let her call you kitten, of all things. You don’t even like cats” my tia points out and I shrug.
“It grew on me after a while. We’re in the living room, Jade”. A minute later, Jade strides into the living room with all her sexy, powerful, C.E.O aura and practically drool. I’ll never get tired of seeing her in her business attire. I’d be so distracted if I worked for her. Jade greets everyone and sits to talk with Leya about her day before turning her attention to me. Her accusatory glare warms the pit of my belly and her playfully devious smirk makes me shiver.
“You…”
“Hm?” I smile, putting my plate aside as she hovers over me. I lean back on the couch, looking up at her as she places her hands on the back of the couch.
“What are you up to?” I give her an innocent smile, batting my eyelashes at her and shrugging.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about. Would you like dinner?” Jade narrows her eyes, but moves back, allowing me to stand. I take our empty plates and go to the kitchen with Jade, heating up her plate while washing dishes.
“I know you, Nate, and Imani are up to something, Angel. She called me in for work that could’ve been taken care of on Monday, then proceeded to rush me out. Nate kept talking about us and my feelings, and how I feel about you. It was all very strange which proves that you 3 are up to know good”. I smile as I take in what she’s saying. I guess we weren’t doing as good as hiding the trip as I thought.
“You and Nate talk about me?” I wonder if it’s the same conversations that Nate and I have. I wonder if she tells him how she truly feels about me, given his reactions during our conversations, she does.
Jade looks completely caught off guard for the first time since we met. She freezes, her eyes widen, and she looks like a deer in headlights. I guess she didn’t want that little bit of information to slip, but the idea of Jade talking about me to people, makes me happy.
“Um, I mean, just the basics you know. He likes to stay up-to-date on my life”. Jade writes it off and I just hum, my smile displaying how much I don’t believe her. I love that she still tries to be cool, calm, and collected but some days, her nerves get the best of her.
“The basics, huh? So your daily life?”
“Right, exactly”.
“Hm, and you talk about us, our marriage and relationship, I mean?” Jade looks to the side before nodding slowly.
“Yes, it comes up…on occasion”. I smirk at her embarrassed face, wishing I could take a picture. Jade is a lot of things, sexy, gorgeous, beautiful, but right now, she’s just too damn cute.
“Oh, and you said you talk about your feelings with Nate?” I can tell Jade wants to avoid the topic. Though I’m a little jealous, I stop teasing her and finish the dishes.
“Sometimes…yes” I know she’s waiting for me to ask more questions but I simply smile and dry my hands. I hand her the plate of 4 tacos before sitting on the counter.
“Sounds a lot like my conversations with Nate”.
“How coincidental, do you and Nate talk about me?” Jade sets her plate beside us on the counter, stepping between my legs. I smile, nodding and looping my arms around her neck.
“Yes, we talk about you a lot actually. Nate’s very good at giving advice and he knows you well”. Jade nods, rubbing my thighs before giving me a slow, lingering kiss on the lips before moving back.
“What do you two talk about?”
“Hm, a lot really, you, Leya, he gives me advice. Like our last conversation I asked if he knew how you feel about me”. Jade has a small smile on her face with the same soft smile she’s been giving me for the past few months. I can’t say for sure that it’s a look of love, but it’s definite adoration. It’s gentle and sweet and reserved just for me and our little family.
“What did the old man say? I might have to fire him if he’s revealed too much” Jade says playfully, before kissing me again.
“He told me to ask you, since we’re married of course”.
“You have never asked”. I nod, moving our bodies closer, relishing in this sappy conversation brimming with romance. If this is the start of our trip, then I have a feeling it will be unforgettable.
“I realized that I didn’t need to. Sweet words are always nice to hear but your actions speak loudly enough. And that always means more than words. The way you treat me and my kids, you’ve welcomed them regardless of our relationship. You care for them as if they are your own and love them like they’re yours. Your actions every day show me what I mean to you”.
“You really are special” Jade mumbles to herself, but I can still hear her and I feel my heart lift in my chest. I never expected to fall in love with Jade but I’m so glad I did. She pulls me into a deep slow kiss, going from gentle and chaste to long and fierce. I wrap my legs around her waist as she pulls me to the edge of the counter. Her tongue licks my lip, asking for entrance and I gladly part my lips for her, deepening our kiss. Her hands sneak under my shirt, working it up my torso, when a loud cough and throat clear stops her. She kisses me a few more times, pulling back with a sly smirk as I slowly shake the daze from my mind.
“There is a child present” I hear my tia behind me as Leya comes running over to me and Jade.
“Can I have ice cream?” I smile at her little words, she’s gotten so much better at speaking since she’s been in school. Jade and I also make sure to read to her at least twice a day. My baby has even started writing her name. Leya directs the question to Jade who looks at me.
“Did she eat already?”
“Yeah, she ate all of her dinner. I don’t mind”.
“Okay, you can have some ice cream” she smiles at Jade’s approval, although my tia already had a bowl ready for her.
“I don’t need your approval, but I told her to ask anyway, now come on baby before they taint your innocence”. I snicker as they leave, before reaching over and handing Jade her plate.
“Speaking of dinner…I’m sure it’s cold already”. Jade shrugs, taking a bite of her taco and letting out a low moan.
“Mm, so good, who made this?”
“Me and my tia, she taught me some new tricks. Do you like it?” Jade nods and I motion towards the table so she can sit. I get her a drink and meet at the table.
“So, what is it that you’re planning again?” I laugh and shake my head, I hoped she’d forgotten about that.
“I’m taking you out”.
“Out where?”
“It’s a surprise”.
“Angel” her tone is a warning that I ignore, shaking my head.
“I’m not going to tell you. I promise that you’ll enjoy it and if you don’t then we can come back home. Let me treat you for once”. I give her my innocent face, knowing that it always makes her give in and she sighs.
“If you insist”.
“You won’t regret it, now come on, we’re leaving tonight”.
“Leaving? Tonight?”
