A scream came from beyond the door. He knew that scream. It was the same one he’d heard the day she’d woken from her coma. Fear slid down his spine. Nothing good ever came of a scream like that.
He stumbled from the physian through the door. The man protested mightily but he ignored them. He stumbled into his sister’s appointed bed chamber and found her in a heap beside her bed.

“Kira,” he breathed going to her as fast as he possibly could. “Kira, don’t you leave me too.”
He pulled her so she was stretched out. He knelt next to her and put her head in his lap. He brushed a lock of her silver hair off of her forehead and that’s when he saw it. The slowly spreading red stain. He couldn’t tell where it was coming from. Panic rose in his chest. He couldn’t lose her too. He just couldn’t.
“Kira please come back to me!” he cried.
