Chapter 34- Bandits!
Roen, Tyor, and Engil had long left the Forest of Elves and were left in the forest they previously in. Tyor and Engil had been waiting in the spot for several days watching the hovering spiral. After the first day they deduced that time probably flows faster when outside the Forest of Elves. They were originally worried when Roen would show up, because if he came out and they were not there he might beat them like there was no tomorrow them when he found them again. The two shivered at the thought and decided to stay.
It took a whole 5 days for Roen to finally appear and he had an expression of deep thought.
"So, apparently you're an old man?" Engil disregarded the mood in the group and directly asked Roen. Both he and Tyor had realized that the more they knew about Roen the more questions came up, so they silently decided to wait for times when he would tell them.
"Don't ask stupid questions, anyways the stop in the Elves Forest has allowed my senses to adapt to the Varnus's influence. I've been sensing the release of souls nearby; meaning that there must be a village nearby." Roen didn't spare a thought and turned to where his senses were leading him.
"You know I miss the good old days of not getting lost. Why didn't we take the offer of help from those nice elves?" Engil followed Roen and asked while they traversed the forest.
"We have already received enough help from them. Anymore and that would be a debt I cannot repay."
"Hmmm~... So you had the hots for this Silvia chick right?"
"Tyor I believe Engil prefers to have an early death."
"Understood." Tyor instantly summoned his blood vines and dragged Engil into the ground until only his head was showing. Roen picked up a large stone and placed it on top of his exposed head while nodding as if he had done a grand deed. Then the two left Engil there.
"Guys..." Engil felt like an abandoned puppy.
Two days later at night a floating spiral appeared and a figure shot out of it. Although the figure was shrouded in darkness, two piercing blue eyes could be seen scanning the area. The figure placed their hand on the nearest tree and disappeared.
Engil was struggling in the ground. He had found out that Roen probably casted some kind of magic on the stone since he couldn't shake it off his head and the blood vines had not died off, so he knew Tyor hadn't gone to far. He had tried changing into a wolf, but that only caused him to sink further into the ground and only his snout was sticking out of the ground with the large stone resting on his nose.
Then he smelled a familiar scent. An unmistakably fresh scent that tickled his nose the first time he had met her.
"Sarah! Help me!" Engil gave his most pained shout pleading for help. A shrouded figure came out of the shadows and Sarah's features were illuminated in the moonlight.
"Little wolf how can you talk? Hang on a second I'll get you out." Sarah talked in an uncharacteristically cute voice towards the trapped Engil. A couple minutes later Engil was freed by Sarah's weird magic.

"Thank you, a couple of bad men trapped me in there." Engil noticed that Sarah didn't recognize who he was and decided to get revenge on Roen and Tyor through the help of Sarah.
"Ah! Those guys, I knew they were no good people! Come little wolf we'll go get your revenge!" Sarah seemed to know who he was talking about, placed her hand on the nearest tree and grabbed onto Engil's fur. The two disappeared and the next thing Engil knew was that he was standing in front of Roen and Tyor. Sarah's face was one of rage and Engil was terrified by this girl's way of suicide.
"Master Engil has returned and we appear to have a guest." Tyor spoke matter of factly as he explained to Roen who had been staring the two in front of him.
"Sarah why are you here?" Roen was a little perplexed by the situation and astonished by how she had suddenly appeared in front of him. Then seeming to come to a conclusion in his mind he hit his fist into an open palm.
"You monsters! How could you torture a creature of the forests!" Sarah disregarded Roen's question and hundreds of wooden arrows started to surround her angling themselves at Roen and Tyor.
"I see so Engil tricked you." Roen came to an understanding quickly and a purple ball shot out from the back of his right hand as he waved it. It directly struck Engil, but instead of causing damage he turned back into his human appearance. Sarah looked dumbfounded at Engil and a deep blush grew on her face, then the hundreds of wooden arrows angled themselves towards Engil.
"Now that that is over, what are you doing here Sarah?" Roen spoke to Sarah who was sitting down while leaning on a tree while Tyor helped Engil remove the wooden arrows from his body.
"It was an order from the Elder Seer."
"You do know that I need to kill others to survive right? I've always helped the elves kill Nightmares, but I have my own purposes. You're race is a lover of life, being with me will only be detrimental." Roen explained his circumstances to Sarah expecting her to give up.
"No, I have nowhere else to go. I have already stolen a sacred branch from the tree of beginnings." Sarah explained and showed a silver tattoo on her right forearm. Roen's eyes nearly left their sockets as soon as Sarah showed her tattoo.
"You, you are crazy. Hahahah alright you can be another one of my servants!" Roen started to laugh and just like that he acquired another servant. Sarah looked displeased by him say she was a 'servant', but didn't have any attempt to resist the title. Tyor looked at the two enviously and accidentally stabbed Engil, several times, with the wooden arrow in his hand. Engil had a hurt look on his face as he willed for his body to reconstruct itself.
"So where are we going?" Sarah suddenly stood up and asked as she dusted off her pants. Now that they had a good look at her Engil and Tyor noticed she changed her dress to a more tight fitting outfit. She wore darker colors that contrasted with her white skin and her pointed ears were folded back so they currently looked like normal ears if one didn't look any closer.
"That way. I'm pretty sure you can get us there instantly if you save up for a day or two." Roen pointed in the direction they had been walking in and told Sarah.
"Nope, if I borrow some of the branch's power then we can move now." Sarah showed her silver tattoo with pride.
"Great, the faster the better." Roen immediately answered and Sarah placed her hand on the tree next to her. She then linked hand with Roen and motioned fro both Tyor and Engil to come as well. As soon as everyone was connected they all disappeared from the spot with a small swish of the wind.
They appeared on the outskirts of the woods and were greeted with the sight of a village up in flames. There were screams of the villagers that plagued the air and men in black clothing were running amok in the chaos catching anyone they passed or cutting them down with the swords they carried. Roen wore a warm smile on his face as he looked at the chaos, while Sarah had one of disgust and several wooden arrows floated around her. Tyor and Engil already knew what was going to happen as they readied themselves.
"As I thought, there are always fun in this place. Anyways lets join the festivities shall we?" Roen had an impatient look on his face like a child in a toy store.
"Your happiness annoys me." Sarah said and sprinted off towards the village in chaos.
"I guess she has no patience. Alright we'll go on my signal." Roen turned towards Engil and Tyor telling them and quickly turned back to the village.
"Never mind just go!" Roen yelled and sprinted off leaving Engil and Tyor rolling their eyes at their incomprehensible master.
