Chapter 11- Daring Debut!
Eight days later, a group of three travelers wearing gray cloaks that covered their and two wolves a silverback wolf and a weird purple wolf with red veins that protruded from its body and had a light glow to them. arrived on the outskirts of the medium sized traders center Thistleburn village. Thistleburn village is situated in a small clearing in the middle of a trade route. It has the luxury of being the checkpoint of many traders on their way to and from the deep parts of the woods. It's main trade partner in Wolvern, which is about a 3 month journey from here, hadn't contacted the main trade firm through pigeon in a couple of days and the higher ups have been getting increasingly worried. Their fears and worries were intensified by receiving several accounts of villages being ransacked with no man, woman, or child being spared.
"Engil take these two and scout out the area. Use our link to tell me any information that could help us." A childish voice rang out from underneath the smallest cloak. The voice was oddly directed towards the the wolf, and if anyone was watching the exchange they would see the wolf nod as if it could understand human tongue.
Watching the three figures leaving the boy turned to his other companion an excitedly exclaimed,"Let's begin operation K."
"If I may ask, did we even have operations A through J?"
"Details are unimportant!" The man's logical question was immediately turned down by the boy's enthusiastic response.
"If we are going to raise hell I can do the work. There is no need for you to dirty your hands." The man bowed respectfully and offered a rather questionable choice of words if others were listening.
"No, we are not barbarians who kill every breathing thing in our way... I take that back we are not hooligans who disrupt public life in every town they come across."
"If I may I don't believe calling it a simple 'disruption' will suffice maybe more along the lines of complete upheaval of public order."
"You've been talking with Engil too much. He is in his rebellious stage, so do not mind him." The boy answered the man as they made their way towards the gates of the town.
This book was originally published on Royal Road. Check it out there for the real experience.
"Halt!" Arriving at the gate entrance the two were greeted by a guard in shiny armor a pole arm and a shield. The two waved at the guard and continued into the town.
"Don't you have ears I said halt!" The enraged by the two's actions screamed louder grabbing the attention of some people who were wandering around the area. The two in question turned around looked at the guard then at each other and shrugged. Furious with their actions the guard said through gritted teeth, "Take off your cloaks all mysterious individuals must be questioned about the annihilation of several villages."
Hearing the guards words the two removed their cloaks slowly as to show them that they're not making any sudden movements. The larger cloak fell to the ground first and underneath was a middle aged man with handsome features, tanned skin and soft looking green hair that matched his eyes. He was wearing a helmet that only covered the top of his head and leather armor that was without any marks or indentions in it, almost brand new. Then when the second cloak fell everyone's gaze concentrated on a young boy with grayish white hair that fell a little short of his shoulders. He had pale skin that most people attributed to wealthier noble sons, and was adorned with a green silk robe that was laced with gold thread further increasing his appeal. His face easily overshadowed the middle aged. Just staring into his alluring red eyes most of the women in the crowd had a dangerous glint in their eye almost as if they were about to go to war. These two were of course Roen and Tyor.
Feeling the tension in the air the guard cursed these two in front of him and burrowing his jealousy he said, "Alright now I must take you to questioning. If you refuse then I will arrest you."
"No." Roen was the one to answer and the guard was about to arrest them when the child rushed up to him and easily knocked him down with a push.
Slap!
A sudden sound of the guard's face being slapped echoed through the ears of everyone. Roen began to repeatedly slap the guard while yelling.
"You! *Slap!* Dare! *Slap!* Get *Slap!* In! *Slap!* The! *Slap!* Of! *Slap!* My! *Slap!* Debut! *Slap!*."
Slap! Slap! Slap! Slap!
"What do you have to say for yourself!" Roen's shouted at the guard pressing him for an answer.
"The putrid existence seems to be asleep master. Maybe your soothing voice lulled him to dreamland." Tyor replied with a completely serious face.
"I guess... But what about my town debut."
"This is only a medium sized village you can have your debut in a real town next time."
"Goodie! Hmmm~ what are you all doing here? Move you're in my way." Roen seemed to realize that they were surrounded by a crowd of stunned people. Tyor simply shoved people out of the way to pave a path for Roen, leaving the crowd stunned. Switching their lines of sight from the two departing into their village to the guard out cold they all shared similar thoughts.
'Did anything happen between that boy and this guard that would lead to this?' Everyone seemed to empathize with the poor guard who was just doing his job. Well no one blamed him for running into those two crazies.
