A rock is tossed from the brush, landing a distance away, distracting a Horned Rabbit from the sneaking hunter. The rabbit [Flee]s towards the hunter and begins to stumble as it begins to [Flee] once more.

With a shallow cut, the rabbit’s lower back is cut, causing a small game trail to form in the grass, allowing Sebas to focus on his equipment, he cleans the dagger off in the grass below.

He pursues the wounded animal, a statement that was drilled into his head as a boy was to finish off a wounded animal, a wounded animal is a dangerous animal. A dungeon animal that’s wounded would probably adapt to its wounds and kill someone weaker.

Sebas follows the tail and reaches a burrow. He sighs and places his knife in between his teeth and pulls up his right arm’s sleeve, shoving it directly into the ground hole. A sharp pain startles Sebas, making him uncomfortable.

He pulls his arm out and views a small bite wound on his thumb’s knuckle. He shoves his arm back into the burrow and feels an additional sharp stabbing, his hand rips out the ground raising a critter by the mouth and uses his dagger with his left hand to slit the neck of the bleeding struggling vermin.

A small pelt along with a rabbit horn is placed into his satchel. The whole boon of his venture so far shows as follows: earning a melancholy sigh from Sebas, as the fruits of his labor are not quite fruitful. His mental focus on his satchel is broken, making the illusory floating text above the bag dissipate.

He holds the rabbit’s leftovers in his hand and, for a moment, thinks to himself to (attempt to) cook the hornless pink dressed rabbit. It would free up an opportunity for him to save money, which is extremely beneficial for one who makes less than… whatever a farmer makes. Sebas climbs atop a hillock near the beast’s burrow, and looks for the guild's flag; a crown with crossed swords behind it.

Towards the massive faux stone sun in the ceiling a white flag flapping weakly in the distance, a small building appears to be made of brick near the brown walls at the cavern's edge, opposite to the giant sconces near the entrances to the south and a bit further to the south-east he began at.

Sebas looks around more, and finds a river a few meters from a grove of dungeon fir trees near the guild safe zone, he makes his way off of the raised ground and starts a soft jog while failing to hold his rabbit with his belt loop.

A brick castle surrounding a cloth swath of tents are able to be seen holding a half dozen adventurers, where across the distance a guild-worker human with blonde hair and green eyes is able to be seen at a similar desk to the outer checkpoint’s counter.

The story has been illicitly taken; should you find it on Amazon, report the infringement.

“Oh hello adventurer! Will you be staying here for the night?”

“Uh… I just wanted to know if I could get a campsite for cooking.”

“You want to… cook?” The pompous guildsman asks, confused.

Sebas holds up a bloodied skinned rabbit to the man. Disgusted, the gold haired worker makes a face and claims, “there are… pits for fire starting over there…” he points with a hesitant finger over towards the left of the castle where a metal grate atop a bonfire divot.

Sebas makes his way from the judgmental iron-plate, continuing his mission for lunch, a newbie hunter who collects his gain, provides and self-sustains. Yep, real hunter man, how do you cut a beast… how do you-

Sebas hesitantly slices the beast down the center of its chest to its legs, a gag is stifled as he pours the guts out with his knife, a small blue flame lights as the beast's innards land on the ground.

A man with sharp ears says “You not a fan of fishing young one?”

“Why would I?” Sebas says while struggling to cut off the legs of the animal’s carcass, rubbing the knife back and forth trying to find the joint.

“Do you need assistance?”

“Wasn’t this about fishing? Either way I can’t afford it.”

A soft smile comes from the elf, “I didn’t ask for anything yet.”

“What do you want, I’m not paying for fishing lessons.”

A slight breath came from the elven stranger. “You have the hunting skills of a child, a child who should be good at hunting, however you are currently sawing through a femur.” Causing Sebas to stop.

“… how much for lessons.”

“Half the rabbit young adventurer, does that work?”

“Get over here and tell me what to do.” The elven adventurer wanders over, Sebas instinctively looks at his ID, seeing a Bronze plate that says “Cyran Erhorn LV 34”

“Well, first you probably need to drain the creature of its blood, unless you really like the taste, it isn’t a common thing where I’m from, but you are your own person.”

Sebas listens to the man’s words and starts to slice the beast at the neck once again, before an interruption. “Here, you know how to tie a knot right?” Sebas nods as he is handed a bundle of thin braided string. He inspects the material and focuses to see [Metal Twine] appear above it.

“Set the grate upright, decapitate the rabbit and string it up by the feet, if it still had its organs you could possibly even use its heart manually to drain it!” the elf chuckles, gaining a judgmental wordless stare from Sebas before he pulls the grate from the ground.

“It was… a joke, young adventurer.”

He proceeds to tie an overhand knot around the meat’s leg while the elf opens a small sack, a bundle of dry wood limbs with more metal string around it, catching Sebas’ attention.

“Do you know how to make a fire, young adventurer?”

“Why are you here at level 34?”

A smile appears on the elf’s face, and he answers; “I’m a mere Vagabond, young adv-“

“Sebas”

“What?”

“Sebas is my name.”

“Do you not wish for me to use your last name, Sebas?”

Feeling violated, he covers his copper plate and looks up at the tall dirty blonde. He has an apology to give to sir Elimir for his actions.

“Please never mention it.” He says before placing it behind his shirt.

“Of course, my name is Cyran, but you may just call me Cy if you would like.”

“Yes, Cyran, thank you. I do not know how to start a fire.”

Brightening up at the opportunity, Cyran builds a cone of sticks and timber within the bonfire pit. “I want you to cut up a bunch of grass, a piece of bark, something flammable.”

Sebas, relenting, proceeds to walk around picking up meter-long grass from out at the castle’s property edge.

He holds both arms full of grass, when Cyran points to place it at the base of a small log. Handing Sebas a small dowel with a string-like bow, taking Sebas aback.

“Place the string around the stick.”

He continues to be ordered around, where the elf hands him a rock squarish in shape with a dent on the flat. “You’ll hold the stick down with the rock, the bow turns the stick around.” Sebas awkwardly begins to quietly turn the stick around, rotating counterclockwise and clockwise til he’s told to “add a bit of weight to the stone, a bit of resistance makes the heat go on the end of the log.”

About 9 minutes of small ember glows beneath the stick, the elven man turns the log upside down, placing the small coal within the shredded grass, 3 soft blows ignite into flames and places the smoldering dust onto the tent of sticks and wood, it slowly begins to grow in size as the flames eat away at the fuel.

Cyran picks up the rabbit and hands it to Sebas, when his hands are clear he picks up the crosshatch of metal bars with little to no effort, dropping it atop of the ground. The excess of the bars imbed directly into the ground.

Sebas hands him the rabbit, before Cyran hands him a wooden cutting board from his bag. Sebas looks confused before he says “separate the legs from the body.” Sebas sits, cutting board on his lap and starts sawing at the meat above where he attempted to work it earlier.

“A single cut will suffice.” Cyran says, making Sebas lock eyes with him before returning, and placing the knife at the hock of the rabbit. He hesitates and looks up at Cyran who points downward, Sebas aligns the blade next to the body, to which Cyran gives a nod of approval.

A shoddily diced rabbit cooks on the grill, an orange char takes to the bloody flesh, Sebas pokes the rabbit a few times before Cyran asks “any questions, young apprentice?”

“Why are you only level 34 if you’ve been alive hundreds of years?”

This question, of all questions, bothers the elf. His head falls backwards with how taken aback he is.

“Good lord what a question. I suppose that’s because I’m a shoddy adventurer.”

“What makes an adventurer shoddy?”

“Usually, what one does, what skills they have, and where they go.”

“That is a bad explanation. Why are you a shoddy adventurer?”

“My skills, or my [Skill], are not good.”

Sebas raises an eyebrow at the elf.

“[Plant growth].” He chants something, tosses a small nut at Sebas and a yellow light flashes from his hand, a small tree begins to grow a Sebas’ feet where it lands.

“Oh damn…” Sebas says before he attempts to uproot the shrub. And fails to do so properly without tearing the roots off. Tossing it in the fire.

“Well, this isn’t the worst thing ever, I have the worst skill, [Bite].”

“[Frostbite] you say? That’s a splendid skill.”

Sebas pulls a rabbit leg up, with his mouth wide open his teeth begin to glow a small red before the leg, including the tip of the bone, before saying “Not [Frostbite.] I have a fucking [Bite] skill. I can [Bite.]”his visage is doused with rage.

“Oh… I see…” Cyran appears to be genuinely curious about the red haired impolite human.

“How unique.”

Sebas sits in silence, collecting the other piece of the rabbit he owns before sitting on the grass, and looking up at the sky.

“How very unique indeed.”
