Sebas Aren - I am a monster. (Chapter 50)

Sebas Aren - I am a monster. (Chapter 50)

While walking down the spiral staircase of stone, Sebas stretched out his body, fatigue had afflicted him to the core, making his body unusable now that his muscles had been ripped apart and healed from his boss fight exploits. He slammed his legs against the ground of each plank-like stone stair, making his way down the stairs in the dark room.

[The God of Humanity says that you fight like a monster]

“I am a monster.”

[The God of Humanity expressively states that you are not a monster.]

Sebas clacked the now growing small claws on his hands together while he thought about how to respond.

[The God of Humanity says that you can be fixed.]

Sebas chuckled at the God’s whims that flooded into his mind.

He continued to walk down the stairway, and thought for a moment before turning upright.

“Wait a minute…”

[The God of Humanity asks what is it?]

“Fix? Me?”

[The God of Humanity confirms your question.]

“… Goddess of Mercy?”

[The Goddess of Mercy looks up from her praying and asks, Yes?]

“I have a question.”

[The Goddess of Mercy nods her head, encouraging you to go ahead.]

[The Goddess of the Hunt pouts and asks why she didn’t get asked a question.]

“Would a “Devout Paragon Harmony Cocktail” turn me human again?”

[The Goddess of Mercy, curious by your thought process, thinks for a moment, and contacts someone.]

[The God of Alchemy looks around curiously, and raises his glasses with his ring finger]

[The God of Humanity glowers at Alchemy]

[The God of Afterlife smiles at the tension within the space, trailing his finger across a the surface of a cup of wine]

[The Goddess of the Hunt looks around the space curiously, unconscious of the tension]

[The Goddess of Mercy looks at the God of Alchemy and repeats your question]

[The God of Alchemy looks around at all of the Major Gods and Avoids the question]

[The Goddess of Mercy speaks to Alchemy; [Restricted] you owe me.]

[The God of Humanity stares angrily at the scenario.]

Sebas taps his lip. “I wish to get rid of a quest.”

[Which Quest would you like to Abandon?]

[The God of Humanity asks what you are doing?]

“Merciful Benevolence.”

[You will abandon the Questline: Merciful Benevolence.]

[Accept:]

[Yes] [No]

[The God of Humanity says you can’t!]

“Why?” Sebas growled out the question.

[The God of Humanity stammers, saying it is because he needs you to finish the quest.]

Sebas tapped the [Yes] option provided to him by the blue panel.

[The God of Humanity clutches at his hair and grumbles obscenities]

[The God of Alchemy asks if he can leave]

[The Goddess of Mercy asks if he would like to repay her.]

[The God of Alchemy nods weakly]

[The Goddess of Mercy offers you a quest.]

Sebas raised his eyebrow and internally accepted, while he pushed open the stone door at the bottom of the staircase.

A panel arrived in his vision as he watched the seamless stone open outward.

[Quest: Rest for the Wicked]

[Description: The Goddess of Mercy is worried about your health.]

[Objective: Get at least Four hours of Sleep (Optional): 0h/ 4h 00m]

[Reward: Highest-Rank Holy Water]

Sebas squinted and looked upwards at the ceiling of the underground with a raised eyebrow.

[The Goddess of Mercy smiles and prays for you.]

Sebas sighed and took the Dragon fang to his mouth, and began to swallow it, making horrid choking as the fang slowly began to descend into his throat.

[The God of Alchemy is extremely enamored by the action and asks the other gods “did he just swallow a dragon fang?”]

[The God of Humanity placed a hand over his face while Hunt and Afterlife nod at him]

“So just sleep? Is that all?”

[The Goddess of Mercy nods at you, hoping for you to greet comfort without a fight]

Sebas shrugged and began to walk into the strange new floor, and looked around, before spreading his wings and trying to fly with minimal success, reaching a small notch on the floor traveling pillar about 40 meters in the air Sebas perched himself like a gargoyle.

“Comfort… doesn’t exactly beget safety,” Sebas said before closing his eyes.

[Perspective Shift; Echo(LV 9)]

----------------------------------------

A majority of the children of Echo’s guild had been placed in a fostered care home, and slowly integrated into shared rooms as beds were grown from magic powers from the nature affinity having Elves, and the Dwarven carpenter professionals along with help from a Goliath man who owned a farm of woolen tusked monsters called Thranoks, which were often too much of push-overs for their large size.

Echo was speaking with Rat and led out of the shared and extremely cluttered room of bunk beds that sat outside the main building of the the side of a large tree that held Redleaf’s Foster Home, after being dragged in her bleary state, she found that to the deep north past a heavy forest the kids have been terraforming a small cave, that was being filled with crates from the pirate ship at the docks during the night.

“Sign in please.” A human child with dark skin asked Echo.

A large sheet of paper with no last names was filled up with a list of names, where no real order was made, just a check mark would be placed next to each name.

This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere.

Echo and rat signed their names at the bottom of the 5th sheet of paper, where Echo questioned, “Have people just added their names as they went along?”

Finn nodded, and pointed to the paper, “we can use the weird Quill to erase the checkmarks when we leave, so it’s mainly just a “who’s here at the moment” paper.”

Echo nodded with a smile, as she finished writing down her name on the line, “where did we get the paper?”

“Everyone starts offloading the loot from the ship when it began to sank,” Rat explained in his broken grammar.

“What time did it start sinking?”

“About five last night… morning… I don’t know,” rat said in befuddlement as he tripped over his own tongue, “ask Kyr or Griff, they were monitoring the Ship since it apparently belongs to the big guy.”

Echo asked curiously, “Big Guy?”

“The Scary monster man, the one who is your “Number One Minion,” the one with the wings.”

“Oh, you mean Sebas?”

“I didn’t ask no monster names,” Rat said, “It ain’t my business anyway, I’m busy trying to figure out what the [Gambling] skill can be used for.”

Echo oooed at the name of the skill. “sounds like a fun way to get money… Does it make you good at poker?”

“Dunno” Rat shrugged.

“Hmm… let me know when you figure it out,” Echo said to the demi-human boy, “who do I get with about the inventory?”

“Cain should be around, I’m gonna go get some money,” Rat said, impatiently wishing to exit.

“Simmer down,” Echo began, “listen. Do not get us on the radar Rat.”

“Aye aye boss.”

Echo rolled her eyes and shooed the boy off, letting him flee out the cavern.

Finn shouted at him to sign his name out and grumbled when Rat left beyond the bounds he would (presumably) be able to hear.

Echo smiled and shook her head as she walked further into the cave.

A young man, Alden, was seen breaking slabs of rock from the deepest of the cavern, smoothing a new room where an unusually buff infernal child with grayish skin rolled in wooden tables into what was beginning to look like a food court.

Echo nodded contently before asking if they needed help, which was ultimately unneeded, due to her unnaturally weak body. Echo made her way down further and found a stone cellar where dried food had been placed on stone shelves, and a crate of salted fish sat in the cold room, a partitioning room about a meter wide made a small hallway where their primitive fridge kept in air.

An unnatural discovery were jars of Fey Honey, along with many spices that a majority of the kids didn’t know how to use nor how to value them. Assorted braids and vines of spices were hung from the ceiling on steel wires, and in the corner was a crate that had a small face drawn on it that looked visibly sick, next to the small drawing was the words “Pickled shit.” in common glyphs.

Echo giggled at the disgusted face with one horn, and made her way to the room next to it, where a small desk (that may or may not have been commandeered from the captain’s office) sat inside, along with a lockbox and a logbook atop of it.

Cain looked up from his scribbling and made an expression that wasn’t one common to children, stressed disturbance.

“Echo, we need to talk.”

“That’s what I’m here for,” she said with a smile.

[Perspective Shift; Sebas Aren(LV 24)]

----------------------------------------

Looking up from the too-small perch, Sebas stretched as his body began to shift around as his finally healed body began moving. Sebas pulled up the details of the Quest given by the Goddess of Mercy as he flitted his wings outward to glide onto the ground.

Sebas squinted as he felt his body land on the ground.

“I thought you would’ve left?” He said to the air around him.

[The God of Alchemy clears his throat and asks sheepishly if you would like to trade that fang for an elixir or two]

“Does it come with a blowjob or something?”

[Quest: Rest for the Wicked]

[Description: The Goddess of Mercy is worried about your health.]

[Objective: Get at least Four hours of Sleep (Optional): 4h 2m/ 4h 00m]

[Reward: 1x ]

[Finish Quest?]

[Yes] [No]

Sebas tapped the [Yes] and barely caught the vial of clear liquid as it fell from above, it bounced out of his hand and up in the air a few times before he caught it successfully on the second launch.

[The God of Alchemy stutters no, but he could make something amazing with the research brought by the remains of a dragon, by the size of the fang he’s willing to bet it was at least an adult and that he could make at least-]

Sebas interrupted the God's tirade by yawning and raising his hand.

“That was a joke, it would take more than a blowjob to get rid of this thing,” Sebas explained, reaching down his throat and pulling the fang back out.

[The God of Humanity says that you’re a crass bastard.]

“Excuse me your humanness, we’re having a fuckin conversation, so shoo. As I was saying, no, so either leave or find something better for me than, “an Elixir or two.””

[The God of Alchemy s-]

“Shh”

[The God of Alchemy says that-]

“Shhhh”

[The God of Alchemy stammers out but-]

“Shhhhhhh”

“Good God,” Sebas said with a smile, “please note that if you make me any offers within the next 24 hours, I’m going to find a way to destroy this so it can never be used for some sort of alchemy.”

The silence was deafening from the lack of prayers or banter that flooded his head.

“I mean if you need one that much, go ask Afterlife, he could probably point you to a graveyard or something.”

[The God of Afterlife shakes his head no at the Wide-eyed God of Alchemy, and explains to Sebas that Dragons do not remain, nor do their corpses, if they did remain, he would know, as their blood turns to poison after death, and their hearts create curses after they begin to beat again… it would be enough death to fill up… most Afterlives… the reason each of the Gods want it is because the pieces of the Dragons are rare enough to be within a hundred instances, however your claim that it was in a chest within a pond…]

[The God of Alchemy asks while yelling that he found it in a pond?]

[The God of Humanity nods, saying that it was also in a dungeon]

[The God of Alchemy stammers out why’s and how’s at the information]

Sebas wiped his mouth with his forearm, and flipped the sharp fang in his hand.

“So it’s… pretty valuable.”

[The Goddess of the Hunt giggles, saying you have the legacy of the Dragons in your throat.]

“It ain’t my fault they left the fuckin thing around, plus, why don’t you ask them? I’m sure they’d be happy to give you guys pieces of their bodies… okay scratch that idea that would… no”

Sebas shrugged and stretched his body. “I know of one thing though, I’m sure these dragons were, at the very least, Sturdy?” He asked, placing the holy water on the ground, slightly embedded while he put the fang within his mouth, the tip pointing to the right.

[The God of Humanity says of course they were you simpleton.]

Sebas nodded happily at the information. He began to fling his arm back and forth before slamming his wrist into the fang, embedding the tooth through the metal that the Experience Blocker sat on.

The metal unfurled and wriggled around violently as Sebas stabbed it, grabbing it with his hand as it began to crawl away, shoving the now skittering bracelet across the tip of the tooth.

[The God of Alchemy turns his lip upwards in disgust.]

The strange creature that was once the shackle on his wrist suddenly fell limp from its hardened metal state, and ceased moving.

[Notice: You have killed level 12 Mechano-chimeric Experience Leech]

[Experience has been gained]

Sebas pulled the creature off of the tip of the fang, ripping the small slug-like beast in half, and looked at it. It had four curved teeth that coiled into a nail-like shape which was once embedded into his wrist.

He dropped the creature onto the ground and watched as it began to glow with blue flames. He picked up the small neon green-yellow lump that remained after its corpse dissipated.

[Essence Core]

[The God of Alchemy BEGS YOU for the Essence Core]

“Make it worth my while,” Sebas said, placing the small lump on the tip of his tongue.

[The God of Alchemy says just don’t swallow it, he will be back, before tripping over his unkempt workshop and running off]

[The God of Humanity asks the Goddess of Mercy why it had to be him.]

“I like him, seems like a decent fella” Sebas said in a dismissive manner.

“So… I wonder… how they’ll act when they find out that I don’t have my leech on…” Sebas wondered aloud.

[The Goddess of the Hunt says that there is no problem with killing everyone there!]

“Of course there is Ihta, shame on you… they could have a family… or something valuable I could take before I kill them…”

[The Goddess of Mercy asks you not to influence her, she’s a young God.]

“What exactly makes a god “Young”” Sebas asked her.

[The Goddess of Mercy says she will tell you at another time…]

“Whatever,” Sebas said, picking the vial of holy water up from the ground and tilting its contents into his mouth.

[The Curse: has been expelled from your body]

[You have ingested the highest possible rank of Holy Water, you will be immune to certain effects for a time]

[The God of Humanity damns you, Sebastian Iore Aren.]

“Well, yer fuckin stupidness, I’m not a Human, so the reasons for you to follow me are little to none. Fuck off, and I might just let those stupid humans you want saved to become saved by yours truly.”

[Your has equalized, you are now clear of the Curse: ]

Sebas spread his wings out and pushed his arm in the air, while he stretched. The bolt on his left shoulder waggled back and forth as his body rumbled as it failed to stretch further.

“Ihta, where the fuck is…” Sebas paused, looking over her Quest, “The Death Knight?”

[The Goddess of the Hunt points her hand out, only for the Goddess of Mercy to stop her]

[The Goddess of Mercy asks Sebas not to Rely on her for the time being, as it is a waste of her powers as a young god.]

Sebas sighed and turned in a direction before he began walking forward into the purple-gray grass that littered the dark landscape.

[The Goddess of the Hunt says your cold before her mouth is clamped with Mercy’s hand]

Sebas chuckled and turned around, making his way in the opposite direction.

[Perspective Shift; Lucas Aren(LV 3)]

----------------------------------------

I rest my head on Hella Rirnox’ shoulder while her brother, Leon, fights against another student in the arena, Windel Theron, who wears 18 swords on his back.

“Such a strange fighting style…”

“Not all of us have the most wonderful skills, however if it needs 18 Swords it isn’t that bad, is it?”

“It could have less… he seems uncomfortable…”

“He seems confident,” a voice says from behind us

Vallien, our senior and Hellas’ eldest sister stands behind us with an evil grin that screams out airs of silent gloating and plans for mischiefs. We both right our self and she places herself in between both of us, she smiles like a sly fox as she looks at me.

“Aren, do you have a thing for my little sister?” She asks with a smile similar to a Cheshire Panther.

“No ma’am.”

“That’s strange, do you just lay to any girl you somewhat fancy?”

I was panicking and answered with an affirmative “Yes ma’am” which made her laugh.

She placed her head on my shoulder and I stiffened up, and looked over to see that Hella was extremely displeased as seen by her once pale skin turning a rosy shade of red, perhaps of anger or jealousy.

She then leaned on her sister before saying “I can see why you two do this, it’s very comforting… hey Aren?”

“Yes Ma’am” I replied immediately.

“Maybe you should date my sister.”

I squeaked out another affirmation before running red in the face.

“Would you like my blessings?”

I couldn’t speak, and she placed a finger over my mouth while her sister angrily bit down on the collar of her shirt.

Silence filled the bleachers as the three watched the fight, they all saw as Leon shifted into a Moonlit Wolfkin beastman, and began to dash forward as his opponent broke his blade against his opponent.

“It’s a strange ability, to break weapons for power, but under the [Spiritual Blacksmithing] that let that lesser noble join the North Star Highspire Academy or just for him to get lucky with the skill he was born with and made it properly his…” Vallien mused as she spoke, “He is something else…”

She looked back with the side of her eye at me, “what do you think about dating, Lucas?”

I was completely taken aback by the question, removed from any semblance of thought for what would constitute a “proper answer” in her book, before she caught me off guard.

“It is something you need to be Careful with in our life, Nobility is a dangerous place to hold feelings, and between you and me, your [Arc-blade Swordplay] and my sister’s [Telekinesis], you might luck out with the Genetic lottery and get both of our families blessings…”

I grumbled and spoke up, “My family can shove it when it comes to those I care about.”

She smiled even wider, something I didn’t know was possible, and chuckled lightly at me, or with me? I’m not sure, but she said something important, “Your brother is a lot like you, despite how he acts.”

“My brother is dead.” I said, in confusion.

“Not entirely true kiddo, my dad doesn’t usually want things that are dead, so it could just be a coincidence.” She patted me on the back and whispered “don’t get my sister pregnant.”

I shuddered as she ran off.

Hella groaned as she lept off towards the lower levels of the arena, and began chatting loudly with her friends on the senior level. She grabbed me by the arm and rested her chin on my shoulder possessively before saying “she ticks me off…”

----------------------------------------

Leon lost, unsurprisingly, he has the power to beat the rest of us, as he gained the heart of a Legendary Moonwolf, an all white wolf that lives in moonlight, hidden within its gaze, but weak and broken in the sunlight. The kid who broke his blades against the shifter only got stronger and faster as the weight of burden was removed from his body.

It was my turn, and I had to fight a Griffin, a beaked beast that was known to hunt horses from carriages and a variety of lower halves, this one seemed to be panther-like in design. The creature made threats through its horrific bird voice to take my head off.

A loud gunshot was heard, signaling the start of the fight, and I charged my blade with electricity, [Arc-Blade] began to glow a bright blue, the color similar in aura to our family’s crest.

I rushed forward, and was immediately stuck backwards as the lower leg of the beast hit me.

Unfortunately… what had once been a simple duel was changed into an impossible obstacle as a golden wyvern slammed atop of the creature, skidding across the arena ground, and began ripping into the creature’s body.

I’m fucked.
