Sebas Aren - Play Nice (Chapter 54)

Sebas Aren - Play Nice (Chapter 54)

[Ritual is in Progress]

A black bead- a mote of darkness hung in the air, no larger than a few centimeters across, in the center of the altar. The dozen plus corpses of hairless ghoul canines were spread across the ominous circle of glowing red magic, the marked monoliths nearby were glowing a similar shade of dark red. A gust of wind fluttered the feathers on Sebas’ body, as he looked around; the gust, nearly causing his body to fly forward was stopped by him sinking his hand in the ground to anchor himself while he wrapped his black and necrotic wing along with its healthy counterpart around his body as he stared forward. The rotten flesh of the hounds started floating in the air, where it would fall apart, splitting into smaller pieces before the small size would start gravitating toward the bead of darkness, where it would be absorbed.

Sebas watched as the blood flew in the air forming unfamiliar glyphs, either due to his deteriorating state, or the general lack of his knowledge when it came to what was going on around him, he was unable to identify the type of magic that was being woven into the magic formation, a seven-pointed star of blood that ran overtop of each of the monoliths of the megalithic ritual site. The first point of contact that reached the small red ritual circle around the altar seemed to ignite the mana in the hound’s blood, burning red stains overtop the grassy turf, etching its circuits.

Flesh fed itself into the mote, guided by the violent storm of gales as the small pieces of meat slowly spread out in the air, and sucked into the miniature black hole.

[Ritual is in Progress]

Sebas stomped his hand atop of the floating box of text, and slowly backed away from the ritual circle, crawling backwards while sinking claws and talons in the ground until he reached the side of a monolith in the violent winds that surrounded the magic ritual, refusing exit to those within its bounds.

“THIS IS PRETTY COOL, RIGHT?” The dark-haired elf asked Sebas, shouting over the whipping winds while standing unmoved on the monolith.

Sebas failed to comment because he was in no proper mindset to respond, he was as sharp as a marble and nowhere near as pretty as one. He focused on the black dot as all of the dog flesh sunk into its surface and waited.

[23.8 Sacrifices have been absorbed by Altar of Maldrath]

[Altar of Maldrath is now gestating]

[Warning!]

[Danger!]

[Flesh Aberration is gestating]

The bead of darkness slowly bloated as it rotated in the air, bubbles underneath the surface expanded and deflated the surface as it moved in the air, jerking around until its body stilled, and disappeared.

A small god window appeared in the sky above the Altar, and four large claws appeared in the sky through it, expelling out of a realm of pure darkness, cutting open the side of the world as the infinite void opened to its sharp paw. Flesh made of sinew and meat in the shape of a snout the size of a small carriage shoved it’s head out of the hole, where the skinless cartilage sniffed the air before the lipless fangs began drooling, and barked as it thrashed around in the window of the void.

Sebas smiled his teeth at the giant hound as it tried to escape, and backed up, getting distance from the altar, ritual circle, and the monoliths, watching as the black smoke of the inky darkness spread out to accommodate the giant creature trying to escape into the dungeon’s world.

[The God of Undeath inspects the situation.]

[The God of Afterlife waves at the newcomer]

[The God of Undeath looks at Afterlife before returning his gaze upon you with crossed arms]

[The Goddess of Mercy prays for you]

[The Goddess of the Hunt cheers at the new hunt!]

[The God of Alchemy asks why it’s so loud in here?]

[The God of Humanity pales when viewing the vile aberrant creature]

Sebas scratched his head with his foot’s talons a few times, trying to get the noise in his head to silence.

The giant creature before him had only muscle fiber, sinew and cartilage on its body; a lack of skin on the creature made him shudder at its existence.

[The Altar’s sacrifices have been consumed and reshaped into a Gestalt Entity of flesh from another plane]

The ground shook as it stepped out from the hole in the sky, shaking its hairless body before lowering its body at Sebas, and sniffing the air around him before unhinging its jaw, revealing hundreds of tiny teeth that barely hung into its mouth, some flying out with small roots as it roared at him.

Sebas screeched back, lowering his body in return as his lungs unfurled a horrifying groan that turned into a deep guttural bellow. He was excited, if there was any way to recognize it, his feathers on his body were standing on end like small wisps of fire as he shuddered, chittering his teeth at the behemoth in front of him.

“Alright boys, I want a clean fight~” The elf said, getting both of the animals’ attention.

The muscle fibers on the hound of meat tightened before its arm slung forward, slicing the monolith she was standing on. The elven woman seemed to teleport behind it and kicked it, sending it across the ground, leaving giant puddles of blood when it skipped across the grass like a flat stone.

Sebas dashed forward, only to be caught by the nape by the elven woman. He looked up at her and snarled at her.

“Let him get up, you need to play nice, Nín-gaur, you’re never going to have many friends when you play as rough as you do” she said, poking him in the nose.

Sebas pulled his head back, getting her finger away from his nose, before wriggling out of her grasp, and sitting on the ground, a very upset expression told her he didn’t want to wait, he wanted to fight, but he also didn’t want to be thrown like a cannonball.

Thundering stomps were heard, as the behemoth hound had bruised and dark red flesh prominent across its body in splotches. It leapt over hills as it ran, its yellow and sickly eyes were trained on the woman and Sebas.

Sebas ran forward on all three limbs, leaping forward as his body galloped across the ground towards the giant. He screeched as he ran, meeting it head on as the pair crashed into each other; Sebas was launched across the ground as his body slammed against the hound’s flesh, and scrambled across the ground as he righted his body as it flipped over hilltops in skidding bounds.

[(Risk-Taker) has been activated]

The hound bit into the ground, excavating a segment of land as barely missing Sebas as he rushed to the side of its maw, he rushed forward, nearly falling on his own face and slammed his teeth into its leg. Flesh began flying around as his claws and teeth removed segments of its front leg until reaching bone, where Sebas bit down until a loud crackle of the bonestuff.

The yelp the creature made was near unrecognizable; it was a guttural groan that cried out in a dark voice that was similar only in darkness to the portal it came from. It bit down on Sebas as he clung to its leg, giant fangs broke the chest and arm of his body before he clawed at the gums of his captor, raking teeth out like weeds from a plant.

Sebas fell to the ground as he was spat out, shaking his body from the blood that spread over him, until most of it flew to the ground. The giant hound licked its wounded front leg while Sebas pounced forward and ripped into its left paw and leg, goring the meat from within its muscle, causing another horrific yelp from the beast before it swatted him away, flinging his body into the distance once more.

Sebas sent his wings out and landed in a semi graceful manner, launching his body forward every time the giant hound slapped him off or threw him with his jaw, only to reach his objective and tear into its body.

Sebas grabbed flesh, getting sent into the air, where he would hover for a moment before wrapping himself in his wings and sending his feed into the head of the hound.

It groaned as its head bounced against the earth, sending a coarse whine out of its maw as Sebas sunk his fist and teeth into its head.

Slowly, he scraped out the meat of the creature, where shards of bone sat inside making a small lattice where its skull should have been.

Sebas gripped the bone, as the giant creature shook its head side to side, trying to send him off of its body. He kicked its lattice skull structure with his knee, over, and over, and over again until a resounding snap was heard, and he slipped inside.

Flesh surrounding him, he tore into the meat, slinging it to the side with his hand as he sunk his claws across the meat inside.

He felt his body sling upward as he fell face first into the disgusting gore. Everything went dark as he was slammed into the ground and dragged back and forth, sliding up and down the sides of the opening in the creature’s head.

Sebas managed to crawl out from underneath the beast, and dashed forward, no longer crawling as he ran in a large U shape while charging a purple glow into the claws of his hand.

He ran and sliced the left paw of the Hound, creating smooth sliced bone pieces as the bisected limb fell to the ground.

Sebas grabbed the bone sticking out of the limb and slung it across the torso of the creature’s body that slowly began to roll over onto him. Using the paw of the creature, he disemboweled the hound, sending its intestinal amalgams onto him in a fleshy shower as it tried to bite at him, shakily holding its body up with the broken pads on its left paw.

Sebas rushed to its hind, forcing its paw to glow purple as he sling the makeshift weapon into its hind leg, making it snap in a very painful and unnatural looking angle.

He rolled forward as it’s body fell towards him, twirling as he ascended to send the now broken paw into its other hind leg, making the creature topple over.

Sebas jumped back and shook the limp meat off of the paw club, watching as it slowly flung off with a disgusting squelch, now holding a solid and broken femur.

He ran forward as the crippled goliath tried to stop him, slinging its head around as it moved broken biceps and hardly useful left forepaw. Sebas roared as he embedded the massive bone steak into its chest, and began punching it.

He pounded on it with his fist, slowly hammering it until he decided it was enough, and ran in a circle, drop kicking the giant bone through the creature’s chest, causing congealed blood to squirt out of the sides of its torso.

Sebas was breathing heavily as he looked at the creature, he inhaled sharply before roaring at it again, crawling up to the side of its body, and sinking his claws into the rounded epiphysis of the nail in the torso of the creature. He slung his arm backwards, ripping out the flesh near the bone, and grinning as the creature began to screech in pain, thrashing while yelping in protest to his assault on its body. Sebas peered into the side of its torso, and ripped it open, shoving his body inside and tearing in until he reached the abnormally thin rib cage within. He tore apart the lungs he found, relishing as he stabbed into it with his clawed hand, watching it deflate and collapse.

[(Valuables Insight) wants the Heart of the Chimera]

He looked at the blood rushing into the glowing yellow and red light that crackled around its heart. He dissected the organ, his body screamed at him that something wanted it, he wasn’t sure what it was in his cognitive impairment, but he didn’t feel like mustering the energy to argue with it.

He pulled vessels away from the heart, until it fell to the floor of the cramped flesh prison. Slowly scraping against the torso’s side until he was able to create a hole about thrice his head’s size, and shove the heart out of it, himself followed.

Sebas flopped onto the ground, covered in blood, grabbing the tentacle-like aorta as he tossed it atop the beast, crawling atop it himself sluggishly afterward. Sebas lifted the Heart of the Chimera to the sky, and roared, his manifest of victory plain for the dying creature below his feet.

He huffed, chest heaving up and down as he stared at the head of the fleshy hound, roaring again at it before its yellowed eyes slowly failed.

Sebas screeched at the sky, while clutching the trophy in his palm, announcing his victory to whoever wishes to challenge him.

Sebas looked down as his vision snapped onto the clapping elven woman, smiling ear to ear while sitting on one of the monoliths, visibly enjoying the show. She stopped clapping and returned his wide-eyed staring before defensively clutching his earnings from the fight as dark blue flames shone from the body of the giant hound.

She chuckled softly at his defensive gesture. “I’m not going to take it from you, sweet dull child.”

Sebas squinted at her and hesitantly jumped from the blazing corpse, before walking towards her, the giant heart underneath his arm.

He sat down next to the altar to rest, letting his slowly decaying body still as he clutched onto the organ.

“You really should be careful with those types of skills, Nín-gaur, berserker skills have a lot of kickback.”

Sebas stared at her as his adrenaline subsided, not listening to her as she talked down to him from above.

[[Unyielding Rage] has been deactivated]

Sebas’ feathers slowly descended from their stiff peaks, and sent him into a coughing fit as blood slowly choked his throat.

[You have been inflicted with: Recoil]

[Current afflictions: Recoil, Decay]

Sebas crawled away from the massive heart, and coughed while holding his body up as he threw up from the pain and the fluid entering his lungs as his body shattered.

[(Elite Monster) has used mana within your (Monster Core) to reinforce your body temporarily]

[Mana Reinforcement {Lesser} blocks Recoil’s bombardment on your body]

Sebas flopped over, barely avoiding planting his face into the bloody throw up on the ground. He looked upward at the ceiling’s dim mana stones, before dark hair and pale pointy ears attached to a wide smiling woman peered over him.

Sebas inhaled and exhaled with labored breaths while staring at her, struggling to speak. “You’re… blocking… my… moonlight.”

“How do you feel?”

“Tired…” he said sharply.

“I’m not surprised, you crawled into that thing like a vampire leech does fish in the oceans.”

“What?”

“You’re animalistic, violent, and sickening.”

“You too.”

[The Goddess of the Hunt asks if you would like to turn in your hunt]

“What will you give me for it?” Sebas asked, much to the confusion of the elven woman looking right at him.

[The Goddess of the Hunt thinks for a moment, and then nods, running over to the Goddess of Mercy to ask her a question in whispered hushed voices]

“Who are you talking to?”

[The Goddess of Mercy listens to the Goddess of the Hunt]

“The voices.”

[The Goddess of Mercy nods and smiles at The Goddess of the Hunt]

[The Goddess of the Hunt screams your name]

“WHAT?” Sebas screams out, feeling his entire body shaking as the god screams, pins and needles run throughout his entire body as he blinks rapidly. He looks over to the elf, and then turns back to the ceiling, “what.”

[The Goddess of the Hunt says to give her permission to edit your current quest that she gave you!]

“Sure, I don’t really care.”

The elf studied Sebas’ face closely, before he shoved her away from him.

[The Goddess of the Hunt wishes to Update your quest]

[Accept:]

[Yes] [No]

Sebas tapped the Yes in front of him, nearly poking his finger into the elf’s nose.

Information began to flood into Sebas’ mind,

Sebas shrugged and slowly stood up with a groan, and grabbed the heart by its aorta and tossed it into the air, where it disappeared into a golden light that descended in a beam to grab it. Sebas checked the quest information, just to confirm it.

Sebas nodded a few times before hobbling towards the mountain he came from.

During the trek, the elven woman piped up, in a hesitant voice, “So… about those gods?”

Sebas looked at her from the rock face he was scaling.

“You… speak with one of the gods?”

“No,” he slowly dragged his body up before dislodging it and slamming his arm into the rock.

“… but you said you did speak with them.”

“Yes, them, plural, not just one.”

“You speak with multiple gods?” She crouched down, letting her astonished face speak for her emotions.

“Yes, they’re mostly unbearable, but it helps me when they give me favors.”

“I thought the gods don’t have favoritism?”

“Tell that to my aching head, they always sing my praises and tell me how amazing I am, if they’re not careful I might get an ego about this.”

[The God of Afterlife laughs, calling you an smug asshole]

[The God of Humanity scowls, calling you a smug asshole]

[The Goddess of Mercy Prays for you]

[The Goddess of the Hunt smiles and says that you are amazing!]

“You’re probably the single most sacrilegious person I’ve ever seen.”

“I’ll have you know I believe in plenty of religions, as a matter of fact, I owe five gold coins to the Church of Mercy”

“Has anyone ever told you you’re a very… difficult person to talk to?”

“No, but I’ve been called an Asshole”

Sebas picked up the elven woman with a grumble, and leapt in the air, before groaning when he spread his wings out “WHAT THE FUCK!”

Sebas let go of the elf, and grabbed at his pain-filled wing, screaming as he grabbed onto the rotting flesh on his wing.

“Uh oh, someone’s got a decaying wing, this is gonna hurt~” the elf said as she grabbed onto Sebas upper body, wrapping her legs around his torso as she spread his wings out before they crashed into the surface of the mountain.

Sebas writhed, his wings trying to free themselves as they rapidly descended, but the elf refused to let go of his limbs.

“LET GO YOU STUPID BITCH THAT HURTS IM GOING TO FUCKING KILL YOU”

“Oh you’ll be alright, don’t be such a baby.”

Sebas screamed obscenities through his mouth until he erupted into a pure scream, and the pair slammed into the dirt, the elf managed to leap off before Sebas slid across the ground as his rapid descent shoved him across the dirt and grass a few hundred meters away from the graveyard where he had slain the Death Knight.

The elf pat his back, to which he groaned when his necrotic flesh throbbed against her hand.

“I can’t believe you fought with this shit on you.”

Sebas mumbled in the dirt.

“Where’d you leave the rest of that potion?”

Sebas mumbled in the dirt once again.

“Alright, I’ll go find it.”

----------------------------------------

Eventually, the elven woman returned to his side, and poured the liquid contents across his back. Sebas sat up screaming and tried to punch her, but his fist was twisted backwards as the burning sensation filled his body.

[You have consumed a , your body is being healed at an abnormal rate]

“Let this senior adventurer tell you something, Sebas”

“I’ll fucking kill you” he muttered.

“You probably leveled up during your battles, put the rest of your stats in if you don’t want to lose your wing~”

“God… fuck you…”

Sebas focused his mind on his available stat points.

[Access. 25 Stat Points are available for Distribution.]

[Constitution has been increased 55 -> 80]

[Access. You have 80 points in Constitution. External forces have boosted this by an additional 4 points.]

Sebas felt his body burn as his flesh slowly began to move and shift underneath his skin, and felt an intense heat resonate within his shoulder blades.

[Player’s body has begun to reject the poison in their veins thanks to score and Mana Reinforcement {Lesser}]

[You have been inflicted with: Fever]

[You have been inflicted with: Unknown Curse]

Sebas groaned as his body lit ablaze, ash white flames ruptured around his lower torso and blazed outward over his body as his feathers rapidly lit in consecutive sequence.

[Overflow Experience is being used.]

[Skill Experience has been created.]

[Skill: [Fainting Resistance] LV 0 -> LV 1]

[Skill: [Flame Resistance] LV 1 -> LV 2]

Sebas slowly stood up, raising his body with staggering steps as he walked forward.

“Well, that’s a new color of fire…”

Sebas looked at her as the flames around his body continued fluttering his feathers.

[The Goddess of Mercy holds her head in concern]

[The God of Humanity raises his eyebrows, not saying anything]

[The God of Undeath asks you why the flames of the Ashen Wreath surround you.]

Sebas looks forward as he staggers towards the death knight’s gravestone, “I don’t know.”

[Your body is healing and breaking down at an equal rate, making the effect of the diminish]

[The God of Undeath inspects you with crossed arms]

Sebas shudders, feeling some sort of violent freeze inside as the flames burn his body.

Sebas eventually makes it to the tomb where Fatal Impact sits atop the sarcophagus lid. He reaches out towards the hammer, and grabs it, the iron bar that makes up its handle glowing red, sizzling against his scaled hand.

“Well… are you coming?” He asked, turning around to the Elf as she stared at him.

“If I must,” she joked.

“Nobody wants you to, feel free to stay here.”

“Oh hush.”
