Let’s look for the next scroll now.
‘Let’s just look for them all first so we can read it all in one stretch’, suggested Zhiren.
‘Yeah, good idea. Let’s do that then’, agreed Seo-Jun.
The group searched through the scrolls scattered about on the table, turning over each one, for the engraved number at the bottom.
Gradually they found the third, then the fourth, and the fifth and so on. Like so, they managed to gather together all ten and arranged them in order, starting with the two they’d already read.
‘Okay, that’s better. I’ll start now’, said Alice picking up the scroll with the number III on it, unrolled it and started reading the content out loud.
(Alice: Hey, can’t you just write down what’s written instead of explaining exactly what I was doing and how throughout?
Author: But I’m trying to write how it is. Isn’t it interesting to know your actions and thoughts as you read through it?
Alice: It’s annoying, embarrassing and breaks the flow. Think about it…do the reader want to know about some hidden part of history or that I paused and took a deep breath?
Author: I get your point…
Alice: Good, then just write it instead of describing my every move, okay? Seriously I’m already compromising by letting you write it…
Author: Okay, okay. I get it. I’ll do as you say for once.)
Excuse our banter, I’ll write the next part of the contents of the scrolls now…
From here on is the text by Yuki Niflhel.
----------------------------------------
So now you know my origins and abilities right? Good. The first few decades of my life were all about cultivation. My goal being to become greatest immortal sword master in existence and obtain proficiency in my innate abilities as well, one day becoming the most revered individual in this world.
And like any other person, I aimed to ascend. From becoming the child who was treated as an outcast to the most respected person in the village. That was my journey. That was my legacy and that was my life…or so I thought.
I cultivated, fought, meditated, gained enlightenment again and again and again…until I was at the cliff edge of ascension.
All I needed was one final push, and my life would be complete. However, who knew that becoming too powerful was a problem.
No one came after me or tried to purge me if that’s what you’re thinking. No, something much worse. I gained the final enlightenment after reading through a scroll I’d accidentally found hidden in a cave.
Well, that was a mistake.
After reading it, I indeed received enlightenment…but perhaps too much. I uncovered the secrets of the universe I suppose you could say. Secrets…that should’ve stayed as secrets. I can’t tell you anything related to it since if I do they’ll find out, but all you need to know is that I felt myself become unbelievably, unrealistically and unstoppably powerful and that will be your path.
I could see what was hidden, hear what was silent, smell what was odorless, taste so much that it was overwhelming yet so little I didn’t know what it was and touch what didn’t, or I suppose shouldn’t have.
I didn’t know what was happening to me or the world around me. I was breaking down and desperate. I felt like I needed to end it all, because this shouldn’t be how the world was supposed to be.
Supernatural beings came to visit me, and I thought it was some form of ascension or perhaps an elimination of a newly formed abomination. Instead I was taken to a different world completely, and told the truth of it all.
I was explained my existence and the power I now held, told to either help in the smooth functioning of it all or be completely erased from existence.

That was the price of my power. And I’m afraid it will be the price of yours.
I agreed…and I regret it. We all do.
There I found out that there were four other individuals from my world who had been recently brought in, so I decided to pay them a visit.
I approached them one by one and invited them to a gathering back in our world since we were still alive and allowed to go back because we complied.
We met, we talked, we became friends.
They were the only good thing that came out of all this…and I failed them.
We were the best of friends, travelling our world and many others together, discovering things we had never before seen and grew closer. We were family.
I hope you all reach that point as well.
We spent centuries together, while also working for those being. We learned how to escape from their eyes, and interact privately away from their radars. We found blind spots, some occurred naturally, some we created…and built homes to live together in them in each realm.
One day, on a mission we discovered something that changed everything.
It was because we had become too powerful and too assimilated that we were able to see a secret that only the King had known.
We were disgusted, by ourselves and this whole system and so we planned to rebel. We brought some trusted comrades under us and told them everything…it was all a mistake.
A civil war broke out between our faction and that of those loyal to the King and system, believing in them blindly.
Though many of our soldiers had lost their lives because of us, the other side couldn’t win. We were as powerful as the strongest existence, the King. Moreover, there was one of him and five of us.
The reason we lost, as I’m sure is obvious from the fact that you’re reading this…is that we weren’t alone and he knew it.
While it was true that we had power, he had absolute authority over everything from a power I can’t tell you about.
He summoned us suddenly when casualties had become too great and told us to stop otherwise he would erase our world and everyone in it, along with our remaining soldiers.
How could we forget that he was capable of this when we were at risk when we came here. We didn’t even notice when the centuries rusted our memories or perhaps that too was done by it.
However, we had become existences that could no longer be erased though we could be destroyed…or in other words killed.
That’s actually what was asked of us, to stop by surrendering and allowing ourselves to the killed since it would be impossible if we resisted.
We could’ve killed the King then, maybe we should’ve but we were afraid of the possible consequences it would’ve imposed.
I haven’t mentioned this yet, but it was what we wanted to escape from, and we were in hopes to find a way at some point. The rebellion was simply against the purpose of the mission, which was to nurture it and ensure its existence.
It must’ve worked since we were summoned and given this choice.
We were sent back and discussed it. I was inclined to accept but the others disagreed.
So, I did all this. I figured out a way to pass on our abilities, to set everything up and ensure everyone’s survival at the cost of our lives. I betrayed my friends for the sake of my people.
I privately met with the enemy and discussed the survival of my realm and that’s how Trucehaven village came into being.
The village created as a haven for the residents, because of a truce initiated by the leader. They don’t know this and I pray they never do. The restrictions imposed on them were to ensure no one from this realm becomes like me.
Because this is a blind spot which they can’t keep an eye or and can’t prevent such a person from rising. That was the reason we all became like this, since each of our homes were in the vicinity of such places and surveillance was weaker.
Apparently this world had the most.
I don’t know how it’ll all play, I just hope they don’t hate me too much. This is as far as I can tell you, since it is as far as I’ve gotten.
What you need to know is that I’ve made sure that our abilities are engraved in your very soul, all you have to do is awaken them.
You would be prodigies, learning to fight, form a core, gather energy automatically and become stronger, it will all come naturally to you and perhaps at an unbelievable speed.
I’ve made your soul capable of it, by modifying my own and my friends’ secretly. They thought I was practicing some technique I’d created and trusted me. I indeed led them to their deaths, and betrayed them for selfish reasons.
I can’t call it the greater good because then I would’ve risked our world, but continuing to fight and look for a way. Instead, I was a weak willed coward.
It’s surprising that I would ever refer to myself like this.
I apologize for this. I’m sure you never wanted any of this, none of you did, but this needed to be done. I couldn’t let it all end with our deaths. You need to do this to survive, to fight and to become the heroes we weren’t able to, even if you don’t want to.
You will find the way as it is your destiny, whether by fighting, almost dying, reading scrolls, getting new information or learning about the past.
I’ve given you the abilities, the rest is up to you. Even though I’ve made it a lot easier and sped up the process, it will be a hard journey.
That’s all from me for now. For more, look for the other bases, if they’re still intact, you can read the scrolls.
Also burn these scrolls before you leave.
You can look around the base since its yours now and make use of anything. You’ll find a map to the other realms by placing the hand of the realm's successor on the orb.
I wish you the best of luck. Please succeed.
Thank you.
