Battle Junkie - A Pokemon Story
You just have to throw the pokeball, right?

You just have to throw the pokeball, right?

Some people just catch pokemon and try to get a relationship after it. I am not one of those people. Yes, if you defeat a pokemon and catch it, most of the time, they are willing to at least hear you out but one mistake can set back the relationship back by a lot. I barely spent a day in the city and saw plenty of new trainers having to release pokemon because they simply couldn’t work together.

As for what I was doing, I was currently semi-lost inside Viridian Forest looking for a Pikachu. Blaze was getting a lot of battle experience as it seems like a lot of insect pokemon are just angry with anything that are not members of the forest. I make sure to spray a potion on any pokemon we defeat to make sure we don’t leave a trail of corpses. Unlike the games, a single basic potion can be used a good number of times and they don’t expire for a few years.

“Char!” Blaze says to me as he notices something ahead of us.

“Get ready. Let’s hope it’s not another Beedril. We made sure to not even go near a nest but they seem to really like us, don’t they?”

“Get inside the ball! Please!” I heard a girl that seemed to be begging at someone. After waking a little I saw a scene that made me want to burst out laughing. There was this big Raichu being followed by around 5 pikachus and 3 Pichus, who was looking at the girl with pity.

“Hey you. Help me. My pokeballs are not working.” The girl said to me once I reached the area of the scene.

“What do you mean?”

“It simply doesn't work in this Raichu and it simply doesn’t reach the others.” She explained to me, clearly frustrated.

“...Hey big yellow. You have a trainer, don’t you?” I asked the Raichu. He was bigger than the average Raichu according to the pokedex.

“Rai!” He confirmed to me.

“See. You can’t capture other people's pokemon.”

“Still, my pokeballs also don’t work on the little ones and I know they don’t have trainers.”

“What exactly are you doing?”

“Look.” She said as she took a pokeball from her bag and threw it in the general direction of the Pichus and Pikachu, over the Raichu. “See? It doesn’t reach them.”

I was appalled. Now I understood that Raichu.

“You know that you have to throw the ball at the pokemon, not just in their general direction, right?”

“But I am doing that!” She said angrily.

Oh Arceus! She has a terrible aim.

“Did you try to fight against them? If they are tired from a battle you might be able to just walk and touch them with a pokeball.”

“He doesn’t let me. He keeps paralyzing my Sunny. My Parlyz Heal is almost empty.”

“...I am kind of curious what you are doing here. Especially with a bunch of wild Pichu and Pikachu.” I say to the Raichu.

“Rai rai raichu! Rai rai!” He says as he moves his hands and body around explaining something.

“You are taking care of them and looking for something?” I asked, a little confused. I couldn’t quite understand what he was trying to explain fully.

“Rai, Rai!” He said more firmly, pointing at me and the girl.

“You are looking for people? Trainers?”

“Rai!” He confirmed.

The story has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.

“For them?”

“Rai!” He confirmed again.

“Any reason why you didn’t give her a chance?”

“Rai Rai Raichu!” He said, giving the motion of a fight. This time I fully understood. She simply appeared and picked a fight or an equivalent as it seemed to not have worked one bit.

“Hey girl. I don’t really understand why but as you heard, he is looking for trainers for these guys. Have tried to explain why you want to capture one of them? He is smart enough to understand you.”

She took a pokeball out of her belt and from it she let an Oddish out.

“Stars are born and I am one of them! The world will hear our names and cheer with our presence! I will be a superstar! Ann and Sunny will shine upon your lives!” She presented herself while doing a somewhat cute dance and fishing with a strange dance pose. Her Oddish participated in all of it.

“Like what? Contest? Movies? Showcases?”

“Yes!” She happily confirmed.

“You heard her. She wants to be a diva and show off to everyone. Do you think any of them want something like that?”

The Raichu began to talk with the others and after a few minutes he picked one of the Pichus and put it in front of Ann.

“So, can I catch it? They are all really cute.” She asked.

“RAI!” That was a no.

“Probably better to wait.”

“RAI RAI RAICHU!” He said as he looked and pointed to me.

“If you are asking if I am also looking for one of them. Then yes, I am. I am looking for a partner to travel with me all around the world and become the strongest.”

He began to once again talk with all the others and moved them out of the way, leaving a good space for us.

“Rai!” he said as he pointed to himself.

“You want to have a battle?”

“Rai!” He said as he shook his head. He hit his chest once again while pointing at Blaze who was just happily watching everything.

“You just want him to hit you? Like, the strongest thing he can do?”

“Rai!” He confirmed.

“Alright. Blaze, you heard him. Use the strongest Flamethrower you can. Remember to focus on it and just on him.”

“CHAR!” My partner said confidently as he got ready. He took a moment to concentrate and launched a torrent of fire towards the Raichu. Said Raichu just took it and stood there for a few seconds.

Once the attack stopped, the Raichu discharged some electricity to completely remove any fire that might be on him. He got hurt a little but I could tell that it was basically nothing. If he lost 3% of his HP it would be a lot.

“Rai rai rai!”

“Char Char!”

“Rai Raichu!”

“Char charmander!”

They seem to be talking about something and I can’t understand one bit.

“Char!” Blaze suddenly turns around to me, happier than before.

“I don’t really understand it but I am happy you are happy.”

Raichu then walked towards his group, picked a Pichu and gave it to me.

“Pichu!” The Pichu excitedly said to me as I had him in my arms.

I looked at the Raichu to get confirmation that I could just catch the Pichu and he nodded to me, confirming it. I took a pokeball and pressed into his head and he was caught a few seconds later with my pokedex updating. My Pichu was a male one, he didn’t have perfect IVs, both the dex analisis and my power told me. He also had a lot of egg moves. Wish, Fake Out, Disarming Voice and Charge. Of course he had his normal moves Tail Whip, Thunder Shock, Play Nice and Sweet Kiss.

The Raichu then moved to Ann and allowed her to catch the Pichu in front of her. She was visibly happy with her new pokemon.

“Rai Rai Rai Raichu!” The Raichu said while pointing to the both of us somewhat violently. Strangely enough I clearly understood what he was saying.

“Just so she hears it too. I have to keep an eye on her for a while? To see if you didn’t make a mistake, right?” I asked and he nodded in agreement.

“Hey, I am not going to mistreat her. Why would I do anything to hurt a cutie like that?” Ann complained.

“Probably to make sure what you are doing and what your Pichu things she will be doing will not be conflicting. I saw a lot of pokemon that I know simply weren’t made for what I am trying to do.”

“Alright, Alright. I will be taking all the pokeballs I threw and I will be going to Viridian. Is that alright with you?”

“Planning on going back too. My name is Himura by the way. This is Blaze, my partner.” I said as I walked towards her to give a handshake.

“My name is Ann and I will be a superstar!” She said as she shook my hand.

The Raichu quickly gathered his merry band of electric rats and continued his journey into the forest. I could feel that if we let anything bad happen to the Pichus he was more than capable of finding and dealing with us. Whoever caught that Raichu was probably a beast.

After she gathered her pokeball we began to return to the city. I didn’t plan on it but I have a companion, at least for a while.
