After Inferno

Dennis(Biker/Gang Leader)

I had what most considered an easy life. My family had money, I had a good education, I never felt unsafe but the one thing I never had was a pokemon of my own. At least until the end of last year.

My family always thought that going on a journey and catching a pokemon for no reason was stupid and never let him have his own pokemon, they didn’t have one either. They always said to him that he could do lots of things without pokemon, his father was an accountant and he was studying to follow him. But then, last year, just after his 19th anniversary, his family decided to go on vacation without him to Alola and when they returned they had pokemon of their own. They also began to tell him how great it was to have pokemon.

He felt betrayed. All his childhood he couldn’t have pokemon, even when he wanted it. He lost friends but he trusted that his family knew what they were saying, they were quite happy, but now that he wasted his youth they suddenly say that he should go on a little adventure. He was and still is very angry with them.

He left his home behind in anger, bought a bike and traveled all the way from Johto to Kanto. Along the way he found Sneasel, a pokemon that was betrayed like he was, and they quickly formed a friendship.

As he passed through Viridian City a few kids liked how he was rebelling against his family and decided to follow him. He quite liked having a group following him.

During his trip from Johto, he and Sneasel understood that without strength you can’t do anything. The weak have no place in the world for themselves, they are just allowed to be there. They would find powerful partners and challenge the gyms until they are stronger than the champions.

When his group moved from Viridian to Pewter he found a Sandshrew outside of the town that took a liking to him and his group, he was also obsessed with getting stronger like him and Sneasel.

As much as he wanted to just challenge the gyms, he had to train, he also took time to train his followers and anyone that went against them would get a good beating so they knew their place in the world. He was hoping to find a pokemon with potential too but everyone he beat up didn’t have anything worth his time.

Over the course of a few weeks his group growed a little and he was finally ready to challenge the gym, but then he heard that two kids sent his subordinates to jail for some stupid reason. He found out who they were and he was going to deal with them after he got his badge. If the cops have so much free time to go after his people he might as well leave so he doesn’t waste his time with stupid people saying shit on his ear. Breaking out his subordinates wouldn’t be hard, he had lots of pokemon to help with that.

When he was at the gym he heard one of the kids say that he used all his pokemon in the challenge. Once he finished with his challenge he would go after him so he would know to not mess with his gang.

He called everyone and they all went to the pokecenter, where the kid and his girlfriend were.

He remembers confronting the kid, kicking his stupid bird that couldn’t even free itself from his hand. After that all he remembered was pain.

“Finally up I see.” An officer Jenny said to him. It took a moment but as he looked around he saw that he was in a hospital.

“What?” He asked, trying to move but a cop and a doctor stopped him.

“Don’t move, we barely saved your life.” The doctor said.

“What!?”

“Do you remember what happened before you came here?” Jenny asked.

“...That little shit! I am going to kill him!” I said angrily. Once again I was held onto the bed.

“Sorry but the only thing you will do after you heal will be going to jail.”

“Don’t you have anything better to do? I beat a kid that wronged me a little and now I am going to jail, even if I am the one in the hospital?”

“Everything that happened is your fault and you will pay for it, one way or another.”

“What happened?” I asked, a little afraid.

One of the cops turned on a TV in my room and I began to watch the news.

“Now, on local news! It has been two days since the Pokecenter Fire. The outside of the building is just now being restored. Focus was primarily on making sure that the inside was secure so it could treat the numerous pokemon that were hurt during a gang attack. The culprit along with all his accomplices are still in the hospital. Most are minors but the leader will be fully charged for allowing something like this to happen. The primary victim cannot be contacted anymore but the police says that there is more than enough evidence to prosecute everyone involved.” The news woman said.

“I don’t have a fire pokemon. It wasn’t me.” He calmly said.

“No, but you are the reason that that boy did all he did.” The cop said.

“So, just to be clear. You don’t remember anything?”

“No, I don’t! I didn’t do anything that is being said on the news.” I angrily stated.

“Then we have nothing to talk about. For better or worse, I hope you recover faster than your pokemon or I don’t think you will ever see them again.” Jenny explained.

I didn’t know what happened but I was going to find out.

Ann

“Nothing yet?” I asked Jenny as we sat outside the pokecenter.

“We know that went to the pokecenter near Mount Moon but by the time we got the information he had already left and since he isn’t exactly lost we can’t ask people to look for him there.” Jenny explained to me.

“I…Ok…”

“I sorry I can’t help more but I need you to confirm your story again. Dennis, the leader of that stupid gang, woke up and I need to confirm that you won’t change your story. What happened is pretty serious.”

“Ok…Where do I start?”

“Wherever you want.”

“...After we were cornered he grabbed everyone’s attention and went to the empty space people use to battle near here. He tried to send out his Pidgey but a dark pokemon, a Sneasel, took the pokeball before he could. His Mankey was already out of the pokeball too. He then charged the group of pokemon that was after him, taking some damage, but once he got near enough I saw Valkyrie, the Pidgey, being kicked towards him and then…And then…”

“That’s when he went berserk?”

“I don’t like that word. He was angry but rational, I saw it.”

“You know that if almost everyone that is in the hospital didn’t confess I would have to hunt your friend down, right?”

“But he didn’t do anything on purpose.”

“...Please continue to explain what happened.”

“After that he put Valkyrie in another pokeball and sent out his Charmander and Pichu…And began to try to murder everyone from that gang…”

“What exactly did he do?”

“He…He… His Charmander, Blaze, sent a giant fire that knocked out all the pokemon behind them. After that he went after the people. The Pichu discharged electricity on everyone and stunned them. The Mankey somehow managed to punch the Sneasel and Sandslash that were near the gang leader so hard they went flying to the group that was stunned. Himura jumped on the leader and began to pummel him. He must have hit something critical because it didn’t look like he was being stopped in any way.”

“And the explosion?”

“A minute after that began, the Sneasel appeared on top of a bike and tried to hit Himura, hitting his Pichu on the way. Himura quickly returned the Pichu, made the Mankey stop the bike and kick it on top of the leader. At that point he seemed satisfied and began to leave but the Sandslash helped the leader up. He was really angry, I think his bike was broken, so he threw it on top of the fire that was dying down near the pokemon that got knocked out. It exploded, started the fire and Himura lost it, again, especially after the leader shouted that he didn’t need weak pokemon. He charged the leader along with his pokemon, knocked him and his pokemon with a collective attack and after making Blaze burn all of them until he was out of energy, he returned all his pokemon and began to punch the leader in the face non-stop. I think it was a good five minutes before I could approach him due to the flames…”

“What happened after?”

“I tried to stop him but he wasn’t responding. When I tried to forcefully stop him he attacked me by accident but that made him stop. He looked around, saw everything that was happening and ran inside the pokecenter. I thought he was going to try to do something to help but as I found out later, he got all his stuff and just left the town.”

“How did you feel when he punched you?”

“...Afraid. He had this hate in him that you can only see from up close. I think I got paralyzed because of it because I don’t remember anything until after the firefighters appeared.”

“...Well, thanks for helping. I really wish I could do something but sometimes your hands are tied. Good luck with your contest.”

“Thanks…”

I was lost. So much happened so fast. Part of me wants to look for him but I also want to participate in the contest. I need some time to think.

Lisia

“Pick it up! Pick it up!” I said nervously as I walked around my hotel room and looked at my Rotom phone following me.

“Good evening, my dear niece! What do I owe this beautiful call?” My uncle Wallace said with all the glamor he always had.

“This is serious! I am trying to talk with you for at least a day now!” I said angrily.

“...Sorry about that. I was preoccupied.” He said to me, very seriously.

“And where is Uncle Steven! I need to talk with him too!”

“As a matter of fact, I was with him until not long ago. What happened?”

“See the video I just sent you.” I said as I sent the video in question to him.

“That isn’t something you see everyday.” He said after watching the video.

“What did you send me to watch over? I am not going to let someone like him anywhere near my children! The video doesn’t do justice to what happened. It was like confronting a Salamance alone.”

“Hello? Lisia? What happened?” Uncle Steven said as he joined the call.

“Who is that kid you two sent me to keep an eye on?”

“He was just a kid from Rustboro. What happened?”

“Watch the video Steven.” Wallace said, very seriously.

“When was this?” Steven asked.

“Two days ago.” I answered.

“...Wallace, do you think it was because of him?”

“It was the first thing that came to my mind but those two checked and they are still where they hid it.”

“What are you two talking about?”

“There were signs of Kyogre rampaging near an abandoned island two days ago. He was indeed there but quickly returned to the ocean. We thought that someone might have found the Blue Orb but that wasn’t it.”

“It's either the greatest coincidence in history or we are missing something. Also, he went missing about a day ago.”

“Anything else you can say about the kid’s rampage?” Steven asked.

“Besides he being able to command his pokemon without talking and all of them suddenly having glowing red eyes? No.”

“...This might need a professional after all. Lisia, my dear. Keep an ear out for the boy but enjoy your vacation. Tell the little ones I said hi.”

“Sorry for not being able to talk more too. I need to meet with some people.” Steven saiu.

“You are the CEO of a company, don’t forget.”

“I don’t do much nowadays. Thanks anyway. Bye.” he said and with that both left the call.

“I am just going to enjoy and tour the contests here. Maybe that girl didn’t follow after him. I wonder what she is doing…”
