New Life in the Pokemon World - Part 3

One would look and my life so far I say that this was the point where everything started to work but it wasn’t. I had to have my stupidity beaten out of me two more times by Green before anything could be done.

After I got back I started to pick fights with everyone because I was angry. So that was the first beating.

The second one was because I was being an idiot and becoming depressed again.

Some people might think that you shouldn’t treat kids like that, and that is true, but I wasn’t a kid. At least not completely. I had a lot of adult ‘memories’ if you could that but in truth I was just a kid with more knowledge than normal. It took a few punches and being told to my face that I didn’t have to try and fix my problems by myself. There are plenty of adults they can and will help me.

It took another 3 months until something was found that gave me any hopes for the future. At least now I had people constantly keeping an eye on me and Oak. The old man moved with me so I wouldn’t do something stupid, again. Not that I minded. He teached me a lot about Pokemon that I didn’t know. How they live, biology, diet, etc… He said something that kind of shook me. Something that never even passed through my mind.

People eat pokemon, pokemon and pokemon, pokemon eat people. This is a fact of life in this world. I know that there are synthetic farms for meat all around the globe so not everyone has to eat pokemon but it isn’t something frowned upon, even if everyone knows that every single pokemon at least understands people. The reason why is that there are two types of pokemon, at least it was how Oak explained to me.

The ‘beast’ pokemon and the ‘smart’ pokemon. ‘Smart’ pokemon are what people think about pokemon. They can understand people, they have their personalities and lives, and can even create society to some level. The beast pokemon are pokemon that simply can’t learn. They are pretty much animals from my old world. They can still understand humans and do everything else a smart pokemon could do but if you leave them alone they are pretty much driven by instinct alone. It has been almost a century since people had the technology and knowledge to identify what type of pokemon a pokemon is. You can breed cow pokemon for meat as long as they are ‘beast’ pokemon for exemple. Also, there are a lot more pokemon than I would have guessed. The current estimation is around 1500 pokemon worldwide but that number is probably still not close to the actual number. A lot of regions simply didn’t and still don’t allow people to travel there or to leave so a lot of pokemon are landlocked along with any information about them.

As for what happened, Green came to my house with his entire family. He had two kids, twins, a boy and a girl my age and to my surprise his wife was Blue. I had to do a double and triple take of what I was seeing because I couldn’t quite believe they were a thing.

She was motherly? Nice? Can’t quite select one word. As for why they were all there. The first thing was because she heard about me and wanted to check to confirm if I wasn’t some sort of survivor from some experiment with children. I never looked into it but the reason I survived was because I literally washed on the shore of Pallet Town. They have a small port south of the town and I was found there.

The second reason was because there was still one type of pokemon I didn’t have contact with. A recently born pokemon and she had a pokemon egg she was holding into that was to hatch in a few days.

The egg had to stay with me 24/7 and I finally had people my age to talk and play with. The boy was named Mizuho and the girl was Konoha. It was there that I also learned another quirk of my strange language chance ability. The name people gave to me would be their name, independently of what the language was at the moment. The name changes only occurred if I knew them from any sort of media in my old world.

They were both born here in Pallet but are now living in Johto since Blue was helping with some sort of breeding program to repopulate some areas with pokemon around the region.

They didn’t know if they wanted to be trainers. Their parents were a big deal so they felt a little intimidated by the idea of maybe battling against them in the near future. Green was still very active in high levels. He casually fights elite four members and champions all around the world so even if he doesn’t participate in many competitions, nobody can say he isn’t active. Those matches also net a lot of money by what they told me.

We couldn’t really play outdoors so video games, board games and TV it was. Oak wasn’t very good at games. He beat me on TV every time though.

Around a week after they began somewhat living with me the egg began to hatch and a Wooper came out. The little guy or girl wasn’t afraid of me. I cried so hard. A weight I didn’t know I had had lifted. Not all pokemon freaked out when seeing me and the best part was that as long as a pokemon that wasn’t freaking out was near me, other pokemon simply wouldn’t. Sadly not everything was rainbows and chocolate.

That pokemon wasn’t mine and Blue had to bring it back to Johto. After a day or two where she allowed me to play with it, she had to take it to the pokecenter in the town to have it checked and put in a special pokemon that would allow the pokemon to be easily released in the wild when the time came. When she got back the little guy was afraid of me again, along with all the other pokemon. I got a little sad but I finally had some light I could actually see at the end of this tunnel.

They gave me a farewell party even if it was then going out. Blue asked my favorite pokemon too. I said it was Charizard. Some people might think he was overrated but this wasn’t a game and the fire flying lizard could get really big. They really looked like dragons when you saw them up close and they were very cool. I also blurted out that my second favorite was Raichu and the Third was Linoone, the ones from Hoenn.

Everyone said their goodbyes and I was left once again with Oak and Daisy, when she visited.

The unspoken promise I was given was that if they didn’t find anything that would ‘cure’ me, they would have an egg ready for me when I became 10 years old. Seeing that I couldn’t leave the pokemon, ever, if that came to be, I had to be a beast. I needed to be ready for anything and everything.

I began to train my body and mind. I ran around, did push-ups, sit-ups and anything else I found to be useful. Then I would study Pokemon, their known moves, abilities, quirks. I would watch and rewatch any battles I found on TV or online with pokemons I was studying.

I devoured the pokedex, figuratively, along with any information about pokemon I could find. If a new pokemon was officially added to the pokedex I would know about it. Not that it happened often.

On my ninth birthday, that was in the second month of the year, Green and his family came to visit me again. They brought a few presents to me, as well as a few pokemon eggs. The presents were stuff I would need as a trainer that I couldn’t go out to buy myself. Clothes, a bag, running shoes, a fishing rod, etc…Nothing I would use at the time so I stored everything in a safe place.

They would stay in town for a week. They were busy people but I didn’t mind. They also didn’t know exactly if the eggs would hatch while they were there but they at least wanted me to have a pokemon to play with for a day. They also said they had a surprise for me on the day before they left.

I played with Mizuho and Konoha everyday and two eggs hatched during those 7 days. One was Shiny Hoothoot and the other was a Mareep. Contrary to what I was led to believe by my game knowledge, every pokemon born from an egg is very small and would grow as they ate and lived. It was fun playing with both of them. Having some contact with pokemon was nice, even if I knew that once they left they would be afraid of me. Pokemon have a strange energy around them that makes you want to stay with them, especially if they are nice.

Like they said to be, just before they left, they put me into a giant black box and moved me somewhere. Since pokemon needed to see me to freak out, they had to do that to take me out of the town.

After several minutes they put me somewhere and told me to leave the box. When I did I found myself inside another box, one made out of a strange glass. I was told that I could see the outside from inside but nobody could see me from the outside. Also inside was a small portable computer and outside the box there was a group of people. It took a moment for me to see that this was an area just outside the town that was transformed into a makeshift pokemon arena.

Green told me that I was going to battle all the trainers he found. The computer had info on all the pokemon he had available for me to use but to the limitations I had all the battles would be 1 on 1 as I couldn’t switch pokemon myself. With all that we began.

I had 10 pokemon available to me. Machoke, Aipom, Rhyhorn, Nidorino, Gligar, Zigzagoon, Gastly, Gloom, Shinx and a Pidgeotto.

It was fun, I didn’t lose a single match and not because they let me win. I guess all the studying I did clicked. Also, the trainers were just people in the area by the looks of it so I shouldn’t have expected a hard challenge. The pokemon were also special pokemon trained for this kind of thing so they easily followed my commands.

Once we were done, I was kidnapped again and brought back to my house. Everyone said their goodbyes and we went our ways. I wasn’t going to see them for a while after that. The twins were going to start their journey in Johto so I would probably only see them if we all got into the Indigo Conference, they from the Johto side and me from the Kanto side.

My training and studying continued like normal. When the new year came I could finally access my family’s finances as it was the year I was going to be 10 years old. I ordered actual clothes for myself online. The stuff I got from Green and Blue was the stuff you would use below your actual clothes so I wanted something to fit my style. By the end of the first month, it was not January but I read it as such for some reason. Every kid that was going to be 10 at least until the 6th month of the year could take a small test and receive their trainer license. Oak put the world that I couldn’t leave my house and someone came to apply the test to me there. I, of course, passed with flying colors. Two days later my license came by mail. Oak told me to rest for the day as he would be bringing me my pokemon himself in the morning.

Once the new day came, I packed everything I would need for my journey in my bag, cleaned my room for the last time in a while and moved to the door. Oak had ring the bell and called for me.
