Himura
“Finally I can see the sun.” I say as I walk outside the pokecenter.
“Shouldn’t you be resting more?” Ann asked me, clearly worried.
“It was just a few light bruises. My clothes didn’t even rip or anything. There isn’t even a mark. All of you are too worried about things.”
“First, your clothes are too high quality. How did you even have money for something like that? Second, you were sent flying hard enough to break a few pipes. I wasn’t just a light bruise.”
“Really bad pipes.”
“Well, whatever! We are going to Pewter, right?”
“Yeah.”
“Luckily the next contest will also be there.”
“...So, how does it feel to be so good that they didn’t even make you participate in the last stage?”
“Ah! Stop it! We will be superstars. It was natural.” She said, clearly flustered.
“Well, you were in the news for a while yesterday, probably today too, more than the higher ranked contestants. Didn’t know that spores could be controlled like that.” I said, clearly surprised. Didn’t think an Oddish of all pokemon could be able to have that amount of control over spores.
“It was more like letting it fall where we wanted. We practiced that dance a lot.”
“Still, plenty of pokemon can control elements. It would be really cool if your Sunny could control her spores freely.”
“I might look into that.”
“It also helped me see that there might be a way to customize my pokemon moves. Blaze and Bolt seem to be able to slightly curve some of their moves so maybe one day we can freely use that.”
“...Let’s go.” She suddenly said, somewhat irritated.
We quickly moved towards Viridian Forest. A ranger said to us that a bunch of pokemon were fighting over territory so we had to take the long way around the forest. He even gave us a map of the route. We could break through all the fighting but it would put a lot of people in danger.
We walked all day, occasionally letting our pokemon out to walk or fight a wild pokemon that attacked us. Ann’s strategy was stalling. Poison a pokemon and wait. She clearly didn’t like to battle but she knew that it was a necessary skill so she did a little when possible.
I was hoping to find a Scyther but the ones found in the forest at the moment were the kind that would butcher me before I could do anything. When night arrived we had to make a small camp. As we let the food cook, she started to talk with me.
“Himura. Why don’t you have a Rotom phone? At first I thought that it was because you didn’t have money but that doesn’t seem to be the case. You even have an old pokedex.”
“I don’t like the idea of my things being hostage to a pokemon that may get fed up with me and is able to take all my data. if your Rotom left your phone right now you would only be able to make emergency calls and lose access to everything else. Also, this pokedex is brand new. It just looks like an old one because I asked for it.”
“I didn’t know you could ask for pokedexes.”
“If you ask the regional professor he certainly would be able to get you one. It’s not like they are hard to make or anything. Now you might have to pay a little but since I asked for this even before I left for my journey they got it for free for me.”
“Never asked where you came from.”
“I am originally from Hoenn but I moved here to Kanto about 2 years ago. My house is in Pallet.”
“Wow. I never even left my home city until recently. How different is Hoenn from here?”
“Can’t really say. Before moving I also was stuck in my home city. But if I had to say something, there is more nature here in Kanto. In Hoenn there is a good balance but I feel like Kanto is more wild.”
“Hmm… Do you think that we will find that Raichu?”
“Probably not. Whatever is happening in the middle of the forest is too much for a single pokemon no matter how strong he is.”
“What makes you say that?”
“No matter how much we walk I can always see pokemon fleeing the center of the forest. Even now a few more nocturnal pokemon are moving. There is a big fight happening.”
“...Then let's sleep early. I want to get out of here as fast as possible.”
After everyone ate we quickly went to our tents and slept. All our pokemon were out of their pokeballs because if anything was coming our way, they would sense it way earlier than us.
Morning came and we ate a very rushed breakfast. You could feel the danger in the air and we didn’t want to be in that forest a moment more than necessary.
You could be reading stolen content. Head to Royal Road for the genuine story.
Once everything was packed we pretty much ran towards the exit of the forest. After a few minutes we just walked fast since running would be worse for us. Every once in a while we would hear strange rumblings in the forest followed by a considerable amount of pokemon running away. It was mostly weak pokemon but way more than you would expect to see at one point.
After walking for about 4 hours we finally reached the edge of the forest, so much that Valkyrie could see Pewter in the distance once she flew above the clouds.
As we approached the end of the trail that led to the city a group of people stopped us.
“If you want to pass you need to pay the toll!” A man that looked like he was part of a biker gang said to us, trying to be menacing. He didn’t look to be much older than 18 and everyone following him were clearly minors, from 13 to 15 at most, all dressed like him for some reason.
“In case you didn’t notice, there is something really bad happening in the forest and everyone needs to leave.” I said.
“Not my problem! Now, money or go back!”
“...Let’s just go around them.” I said to Ann and began to walk towards the western edge of the forest.
“Not so fast! If you are trying to bypass us we will have to show you who is the boss here!” He said as he and what were clearly his minions sent out their pokemons. There were 5 of them and a total of 2 Ekans, 1 Raticate, 1 Zubat and 1 Magnemite. The leader was the one with the Magnemite. I used my ability to see what I was dealing with and almost began to laugh from what I got from it. These pokemon not only were weak but badly trained. Their stats were below the ‘normal’.
“Himura, we should…” Ann tried to say something but I stopped her.
“Ok, here is the thing. You let us pass and I don’t give all of you the ass whooping of a lifetime.”
“Big talk for a small kid!” The leader of the strange group said back.
“Guess that is your answer. You are making my friend here very uncomfortable so I will at least try to be quick.” I said as I let out the rest of my pokemon.
Ann
Arceus, may you forgive these poor souls because he will not. Let me hide behind a tree to give him a little more space.
“Look, he thinks he can do something…” The leader tried to say something but was cut by Himura.
“Let’s fuck them up! Flame Burst, Magnemite! Gust on the Ekans! Surprise and Nuzzle on the Zubat! Kick the Raticate!” Himura quickly commanded his pokemon.
As he commanded, a burst of fire hit the Magnemite and splashed on everyone near it, even the trainers. Following that Valkyrie created a gust of wind that sent the two Ekans flying towards a tree. Bolt suddenly appeared above the Zubat and shocked it to the ground. Asura just bulldozed through everyone and kicked the Raticate so hard it was knocked out instantly.
I could see that the strange group was taken by surprise but before they could even issue a command to their pokemon Himura jumped on their leader and began to pummel him. He of course tried to do something but a single punch in the chest wasn’t enough to make Himura stop, especially not something so weak.
Once their leader was out cold, Himura stood up with a bloody grin on his face.
“Who 's next?” he asked.
They all quickly retrieved their pokemon that were still being trashed by Himura’s pokemon and began to run towards Pewter.
“Well, that was disappointing. You can return now.” Himura said as he stored everyone except Blaze on their pokeballs. I quickly left my hiding spot and went near him.
“What are you going to do now?” I asked, pointing at the fainted Magnemite and it’s trainer.
“First we put the poor pokemon in his pokeball. Then I have some rope to tie this idiot and bring him with us.”
“Need help?” I ask because he still looks to be in ‘battle’ mode.
“...No need.” He said after taking a minute to calm down.
As he said he took one of the pokeballs the man had and retrieved the Magnemite. It looks like he had other pokemon too. Himura also tied the man with a rope and began to drag him as we walked towards the city.
It took us another hour of walking to reach the city. The man didn’t wake up a single time during the trip so I was starting to worry about it.
“Hey, did you kill him?” I asked, looking at the unconscious man.
“No. If he was dead I would have left his corpse in the forest.” He said it like it was the most normal thing.
“...Alright.”
I quickly followed him in silence until we were in the city proper and he pulled his phone. A few minutes later two police officers arrived on bikes.
“Was it you who called?” The first one asked me.
“No, it was him.” I said, pointing to Himura.
“And the knocked out man?” The second officer asked.
“Like I said on the phone, he tried to extort us as we were leaving the forest, then he attacked us when we didn’t so I defended myself. He had a group with him but they all ran away.”
“Hey, do you think it is that stupid gang?” The second officer asked the first.
“Probably. Clothes match.” The first one answered.
“Kind of weak for a gang.” Himura added.
“Well kid. We will take him to the station and if anything happens we will call you back. Unless you are leaving the city right now, then you have to come with us.”
“We will be staying here for at least two weeks.” I say.
“What she said.” Himura confirms.
“Himura, from Pallet, this id, right?” The first officer asked as she showed a number on his phone.
“Yeah.”
“Alright, until next time.”
“Bye.”
“Bye.” I say as the officers leave with the knocked out man.
We take a few minutes to walk to the pokecenter. Once there, while our pokemon are being checked I begin to talk with Himura.
“I passed through here and didn’t see any signs of gangs.”
“Stayed in the city for how long?”
“A few hours at max.”
“Probably not long enough to see something out of normal. The city is big enough.”
“You might be right…”
We spend a few minutes in silence and I see that Himura is thinking very hard about something.
“What is on your mind?”
“What do you think would be harder? Challenging the Gym or the gang, if they exist.” He asked me with a straight face. I know he will do both if possible. Please let there be no gangs, I need to stick with him for a while so that Raichu doesn’t hunt me down.
“The gang.” I say, hoping that he will take time to challenge them. I want some peace at least until we are leaving. I need to make poffins and find a berry mixer to make pokeblocks, mine are running out.
“...Ok, thanks.” He said as he got back to thinking about something.
Yep, he is going to fight them if he finds them. Why out of all people I had to be stuck with a battle junkie?
