Bad Idea

Himura

(03/03)

“Congratulations, I have to say I am impressed.” Brock said to me as he walked across the battlefield.

“Thanks, the extra money will be useful.” I said, grinning.

“What do you mean?”

“That Onyx wasn’t one the same level of the one you used against the other trainers before. My guess is that he is the one you use against people with two or three badges.”

“How did you figure it out?” Brock said to me, coming clean.

“A lot of people around here think that I did something incredible and it is kind of obvious that the Onyx was way stronger than the geodude, like, comically so.”

“Please don’t tell the association, you will be paid.”

“Ok. But please don’t do it again, my pokemon could have gotten really hurt.” That Onyx was slower than normal, that was the only reason I could somewhat fight against it. If he was just a little faster every pokemon I used would have fainted.

“Alright everyone. A last round of applause for Himura. He has it in him, keep an eye out.” Block said to the crowd before we both left the arena. In the waiting room he gave me my badge. We both knew that I couldn’t wait until the next break to give the badges like he did with the ones that were battling in the morning.

“Thanks. I am just a little curious about something. Do the badges do something or are they just a symbol?” I asked because there wasn’t much information on badges that I could find.

“Well, they emit some energy that will affect your pokemon. Mine makes your pokemon a little tougher physically and also shows that you are somewhat strong to pokemon.”

“Cool.”

“Still, didn’t expect your strategy to be using all your pokemon.”

“Were that all your pokemon?” A man asked after he left the bathroom in the waiting room. He is one of those stupid bikers that were blocking the way out of the forest.

“Yeah. I had to get really creative since I had barely nothing that would give me an advantage against ground and rock pokemon.” I lied to him.

“Good to know. Gym leader, I hope you are ready for me.” The man said.

“I am going to let you leave to take care of your pokemon. If you ever come to the museum/ research lab, look for me. There is a lot of nice stuff to see there.”

“I will. Thanks.” I said before leaving the room. Ann was waiting for me just outside the challenger’s area.

“I guess you won. Congratulations!” Ann said confused and happily.

“Thanks, but now I need to go to the pokecenter.”

“No shit. You used an electric pokemon against two ground pokemon and a flying one against a rock pokemon.”

“They won and they knew what was going to happen.”

“I have to say, it was eye opening. I always thought that combining moves was something that only really experienced trainers but seeing you and your pokemon, I think I should have tried it before.” She said to me as we walked out of the gym. I also received a notification about money being deposited into my account. Looks like that was an Onyx for a third badge challenger.

“The problem is using it effectively. Especially with pokemon as young and weak as ours. It puts a lot of strain on them when they use it in a fight. Pretty sure Bolt and Valkyrie will be resting until tomorrow.”

“What about Blaze?”

“He just cleaned house. I can tell that he isn’t really tired.”

We walked to the pokecenter, talking about a few details of what we were planning but nothing big. Once there, the Nurse Joy checked my pokemon and after healing them she informed me that Bolt and Valkyrie shouldn’t do anything until tomorrow. Blaze should rest until night. He was way more tired than he should, probably put all his power in the last attack. Can’t fault him for that.

Once I got my pokemon back I sat down with Ann outside, near a TV that was there for the people eating outside to watch, and we began to discuss what possible combinations she might be able to pull with her pokemon. The gym challenge was on the TV so if someone pull something worth of our attention we will see it.

“Ok, so… What exactly are you looking forward to?” I asked.

“Sunny knows how to control her spores but can’t really use all of them at once. She might be able to control her Sweet Scent too.”

“What other moves does she know?”

“Absorb, Mega Drain, Synthesis, Sunny Day, Growth, Acid and Teeter Dance. The last move I was training with her was Leech Seed, I think she would be able to learn it in a few weeks.”

“Weeks?”

“I love Sunny but she isn’t very intelligent in some aspects of life.”

“So she has difficulty learning new moves?”

“Yeah, well, unless it is something she can use her whole body, like dancing.”

Stolen from its rightful author, this tale is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.

“So she is good at dancing but doesn’t know how to use energy that isn’t directly making her use her body?”

“More or less that, I think.”

“Ok, so, you want my opinion on a possible combination or help in doing something you have in mind?”

“Well, besides using her various spores and powders at once, I am not sure what would be good to combine.”

“Growth and Synthesis, on the sun at least.”

“Why that?”

“Growth makes your pokemon bulk up a little and Synthesis makes you shine, especially if the sun is clear on the sky. Might get you some points in a contest or help you set up in a battle while also healing. Since she is healing herself it might not put as much of a strain on her as soon as she uses it but I can see it doing some delayed damage.”

“Any ideas on how to use Acid? She is part poison and not using poison moves might make me lose points in a contest.”

“For contest use? No idea. For a battle? Teeter Dance.”

“Why that?”

“If I saw a crazy plant dancing and spilling acid around I would get scared.”

“But she is so adorable!”

“Well, yes, but my point stands.”

We stopped for a moment to see what was happening on the TV, a commotion was happening in the Gym. Brock was pissed.

He took one look at a pokemon and sent his full team after the trainer.

“Call the cops before I kill this man! How dare he do this to his pokemon!” Brock shouted so loud that we could hear it from the TV.

The camera went around to the pokemon, a Marill, and once I got a full view I also began to bubble with anger. The thing was beaten and malnourished. The worst part was that you had to really know about pokemon to see it. The Marill was just slightly deflated and somewhat more white than he needed to be. I find it surprising that Brock knew what was happening.

“What is wrong?” Ann asked me. I could see that she was a little afraid of me at that moment.

“That man was abusing his pokemon and it didn’t even know it. It is really confused about everything that is happening, it is even trying to go back to its trainer.”

“Is that why you are so angry?”

“Of course! How can someone do that to their pokemon? It’s one thing if that pokemon was out of control and nothing was working to get it under control but it is clear that the Marill liked its trainer! Don’t people understand how lucky they are that a pokemon wants to be friends with them!”

“Himura, calm down, you are making a scene.” Ann said to me, flustered.

“Ah…Sorry.” I said after taking a moment to see everyone around us looking at me. I sat down in silence for a few minutes and watched the TV. The cops showed up and arrested the man, not long after a gym trainer came with the Marill to the pokecenter.

“Well, good thing everything was resolved.”

“Yeah. Still, I’m a little pissed off.”

“Try to enjoy your victory a little. I am going to think about what you said to me while I practice a little.”

“Mind if I watch?”

“A little late to ask permission now, ain’t it?”

“If you say so.”

Ann

If Himura ever gets strong enough to do whatever he wants, I fear that pokemon abuse will be a thing of the past. How can he get so intense that people can feel it and he doesn’t? Anyway, I need to practice.

Going back to the basics, I make Sparkly and Sunny follow very basic dance moves. Steps, jumps, shuffling positions. A lot of people think that dancing involves a lot of complicated moves, it does, but mastering the basics of moving around at the rhythm of the music will help you way more than it is expected.

Sparkly has it in her to dance but to use moves too is still ways away, specially while she is a Pichu. If she tries to use any electricity she will quickly lose control and I don’t like to be shocked.

As for the combinations, I think I will try Synthesis with Growth like Himura said. It was the safest one to get some training, especially because I don’t want Sunny to miss her target with her spores until I know she might be able to use more than one move at a time.

Until it was almost night, I practiced outside the pokecenter. A few people come to watch but it’s mostly Himura. He let his pokemon out of their pokeballs from time to time, to either feed them or just enjoy the music, I think. He brought water, berries and wherever I asked too so I can’t really complain.

After taking a bath, because no decent girl would not take a bath after training, I returned to where Himura was. He made dinner for us and our pokemon. Some people were battling in the area near the pokecenter so we watched while we ate. As I was enjoying dessert, someone approached us.

“If ain’t the little shit that put my brothers in jail!” A man in a biker uniform said. He looked like the ones that tried to block us from leaving the forest.

“Hey, you are the one from the Gym.” Himura said.

“Brock doesn’t appreciate our style so we have to play the part. I got his badge too.” The biker said antagonistically.

“Good for you. Now leave me alone. I don’t like what your group is doing but it’s not my place to do anything about it.”

“Well, shame, because it is my duty to kick you down for what my brothers and sister are passing through.” The biker said. A group of other people, mostly people younger than him, appeared. A lot of people in the pokecenter fled.

“Man! We are at a pokecenter!” Himura shouted.

“We are leaving the town anyway. Not like we care.”

“Ann, you should leave.” Himura said to me. I just nodded and left as fast as I could.

“Not so fast! Your little girlfriend also needs to be punished.” The biker said.

“She isn’t my girlfriend and you will not touch one hair of her head.” Himura said very intensely.

“Look at him! He thinks he can do something. Sandslash, cut!” The biker said, releasing his pokemon.

“Shit! Asura, Low Sweep!” Himura said as he jumped back, protecting me. Asura managed to make the Sandslash trip and miss us. I took that moment to leave since everyone got stunned for a moment. Once I turned around the building I got my phone and called the police while keeping an eye on the situation.

“Not bad kid. Now, how will you deal with the rest of us?” The biker said and everyone behind him sent out their pokemon. I could count 11.

Various projectiles flew in his and Asura’s direction, he quickly moved out of the way, towards the battling area.

“Shit!” I heard Himura say as he stared at a group of pokemon and began to take a pokeball out of his belt.

“Not so fast. You had another pokemon and didn’t say it so you can’t use others.” The biker leader said as a Sneasel appeared with a pokemon in its hand and gave it to him. “Look, a Pidgey.”

“Give her back!” Himura shouted.

“Come and take it.”

“I said give her back!” Himura said more intensely as he walked towards the leader. I looked at my phone and the cops were already coming. I hope they arrive fast.

“I SAID GIVE HER BACK!” Himura shouted as he began to run towards the bike leader. Asura followed him.

Various attacks went into his direction, he simply took those and passed the pokemon when the smoke was up. As it went down I saw Valkyrie being kicked towards Himura.

“Your pokemon are shit! Look at it! Couldn’t even move after it was out of the pokeball. HAHAHA!” The biker said and began to laugh but then something changed. I felt cold down my spine, it was like everything went silent for a moment. I managed to get a glimpse of Himura’s eyes and all I could see was fury.
