Ch 6

After what seemed like a long time, Eugene began to open his eyes. The last thing he remembered was aching in pain from the demon’s attack. He must have blacked out not long after that and quickly looked around for the danger.

To his relief it seemed things had settled down, he noticed the demon beast on the ground unconscious. His familiars were at his side, exhausted but otherwise fine. Sife seemingly giving me his usual smile while his expression showed his worry. Abdul’s eyes were giving a sad emote as he tended to Eugene’s wounds with a first aid kit. Meanwhile Ryuze was crossing his arms, his gaze looking away from his summoner. As they noticed their summoner waking up, all three started to show signs of relief.

Abdul gave off a happy expression as he continued to administer aid. “Thank goodness you are alright Master Eugene! Please keep still for now, this unit is currently conducting medical aid.”

Eugene nodded in understanding, still feeling in pain, and wasn’t looking forward to moving at the moment. “And is everyone alright?”

Sife heartly laugh as he patted the human on the head. “Hunky dory boss!! We all maybe ruffed up but otherwise we’re fine!!~”

It was at that moment Ryuze finally looked at Eugene’s direction, clearly still feeling frustrated. “Alright?! We all were soundly beaten! And my lord almost died!!”

Tension was starting to run high as everyone fell silent and all Eugene could do was meekly look away before saying. “I-I’m sorry….”

Realizing what he was doing Ryuze sighed as he looked away again. “No there is nothing for you to apologize for my lord. Whatever you decide goes, I just don’t get why you saved me like that….” A look of painful confusion plastered across the dragon’s face.

Though Eugene couldn’t really hear that last statement, he seemed more worried that he may have upset Ryuze somehow. He wanted to change the subject so asked about the demon. “So, what’s going to happen to him?”

It was Sife who decided to further explain the situation. “So, thing is his summoner, that fox Demihuman, managed to subdue and suppress his powers. The authorities are currently trying to calm the situation down and providing aid to those who need it. They actually were here earlier but our robot friend here insisted on helping you recover. They have that fox currently on standby, questioning him for details and they said that once we all recover, we should leave and return home.”

Once Abdul finished bandaging up Eugene’s repairs, he got the other two’s assistance in helping the human up. “Maintenance has concluded, we are free to leave master Eugene.”

Sife lowered himself to Eugene’s height while pointing at his back. “Here, let me carry you back boss, you can direct us where our new home is on the way. ~”

Eugene nervously nodded as he gets help getting on the bull’s back. Once he was securely in place, he guided everyone back to his home. All the while the black dragon dutifully kept his guard up, keeping track of anyone who was coming near Eugene, which only gave him some sideways glances. He could already hear some of them whispering about him, which he chose to ignore.

After some time, they managed to reach their destination. To everyone’s surprise, and Eugene’s embarrassment, the house was a white colored villa. Larger than most of the homes they passed, if it wasn’t for the fact it was a distance away from other communities, it would have stood out rather easily.

Everyone was rather flabbergasted, Sife had a rather exaggerated expression on his face while Ryuze could only look on in silence. Abdul meanwhile looked rather giddy, like a kid on a candy store.

All Eugene could do was muster a nervous laugh; it was the reaction he expected from them. He then proceeded to explain himself a little.

“So uhm yeah… my mom has a high position in management which means we have a bit of a higher income than most…”

“HAHAHA Well now aren’t you full of surprises boss!!” the cheeriness returns back to the bull.

“It’s a rather large home to defend lord Eugene. But I shall endeavor to meet your expectations my lord.”

“O-oh there’s no need to do all that Ryuze. It’s o-…. Wait where’s Abdul?”

Sife pointed in the direction of the house, showing Abdul already opening the door, holding it for them to come inside as he lowered his head. “He immediately went to the house while we were busy chatting. I guess he got really excited to check out the house.”

Everyone went inside, Abdul going in last once he confirmed everyone went in first. They all took in the sight inside the house, it was rather spacious, the living room had an open concept making navigating around the other rooms easy. There were two large couches facing towards a 50-inch TV hanging on the wall with a few small bookshelves nearby.

“Mr. Sife, would you gently set master Eugene on the couch so he may recover while I prepare us a meal?” Abdul asked as he proceeded towards the kitchen and rummage through the fridge.

The Beastman gave a thumbs up as he did as he was asked. “Nice and comfy now boss. ~”

“Thank you”

Meanwhile Ryuze started to observe the building. “I shall check the perimeter to confirm its safety.”

He disappears as a shadow to fulfill his self-assigned task, leaving Eugene sitting on the couch with Sife laying on the other one, already getting comfy.

After some time, Abdul finished preparing for the meal for everyone having made some vegetable stir fry and gathered everyone to the dinner table, though Sife insisted to eating on the couch, which Abdul denied his request.

The dinner table consisted of six chairs, some of which were designed to handle the weight and size of even the sturdiest of familiars, which was perfect for Sife.

Ryuze on the other hand was insisting that he’d eat once Eugene had finished, giving Sife an annoyed gaze as he stated it. Though he easily gave in once Eugene asked him to, though not before grumbling to himself about how unusual it was. It was a nice dinner, and Eugene was having a good time having some company for dinner for once.

Afterwards everyone decided to relax a bit for the rest of the night. Seeing the opportunity, Eugene started to ask to know more about his familiars. Sife described himself as a typical citizen in his home world of Beastria, saying there’s not much more about him though Eugene suspects there’s more to him than that, especially with an outfit like that but kept quiet.

Ryuze described his home world of Shokan no Kuni, with their beautiful landscapes and architecture, with only a passing detail of being a ninja of a hidden clan, clearly not wanting the subject to be pushed further.

As for Abdul, he reinforced the notion that he was created specifically to fulfill the needs of and desires of Eugene, who couldn’t get him to specify more on that as he was told he was restricted from doing so.

Overall, not as much progress as Eugene would have liked, but it was the first day and he was determined to get closer to them.

With the day ending, it was time to go to bed. But there was a small issue they would need to take care of first. That was what the sleeping arrangement was going to be. They had only planned for Eugene to acquire one familiar, so only had one bed available for them to sleep in his room, though two of them interjected.

“This unit does not require any sleep, Master Eugene. All it needs is to shut down power or a charge port to recover energy for a time. For now, this unit shall make sure everything is cleaned up before shutting down master.”

“Yeah, don’t worry boss, that couch of yours looks way more comfortable, I’ll just sleep on that from now on. Plus, I could have the T.V. all to myself~”

Abdul began cleaning up the kitchen while Sife already found himself getting comfy on the couch, stripping off his leather jacket, showing off his tank top, turning on the television and already starting to snore.

Ryuze could only shake his head in disapproval, “…. That man, I swear it’s like he thinks he owns the place.”

“Well, I guess…. You can get the bed Ryuze.” The dragon was about to object but found himself unable to, understanding his lord would insist on the matter.

Later that night, Abdul had finished cleaning up and took the initiative to turn off the television Sife left on while he was snoring away on the couch before shutting himself off for the night. Ryuze decided to take one last perimeter check around the house before retiring to bed.

Meanwhile, Eugene was having some difficulty falling asleep, being both excited but also nervous over his new companions, plus still feeling sore from his recovery. He was left deep in thought over what his future would hold with these three, imagining what kind of stuff they would do.

Eventually he managed to go to sleep, exhausted but feeling content in his dreams as the house fell silent for the night.

But in the cover in darkness, unbeknownst to everyone, a single figure was seemingly discussing to something.

“Yes, summoning has been successful, and summoner is proving to be quite promising. I shall report to you at a later date.”
