The showdown started with me and Helen on the offensive. The field had some interesting magic on it because it generated before the match structures like walls, buildings, and others you will find in a genuine hunter mission. So, as I said, me and Helen were on the offensive. She climbed one of the tallest buildings to keep me posted on the enemy's movements. As I charged forward, she told me someone was charging my way.
"Got it, be careful not to be spotted."
So that's how you want to play, huh, but that's ok with me, just don't go crying to your mom.
"Ability activate"
I poured my power into my legs, blasted forward like a bullet, and appeared right into the enemy's face.
"Hello there, and goodbye!" I said as I drilled my punch right through his defence. I used my ability power combined with my wind power.
"Arhhhh, go through!
My wind punch sent him flying with a dumbfounded look on his face, as he hadn't seen that coming. His journey rapidly ended as he slammed into a wall.
"Auuugh, w-w-wha–?"
As he was struggling in pain, Helen started shouting:
"Lucas, hurry back, we're under attack."
"Damn it, so that guy was a decoy after all, ruthless."
"Wait, you saw that coming?"
"I guessed, that's why I told you to keep your eyes peeled. Now try to find the location of their observer while I'm coming for backup."
"Okay, on it."
"William, are you okay?"
"Do I seem like I'm okay? Hurry up!"
He was right, when I arrived, Max was overwhelmed with attacks from their riot. Max's ability was something of a barrier. He could create a goldish, transparent barrier or even a dome. But as things stand, he is at his limit, and our team is as well. I rushed to him to offer support, but as I was a few steps away from him, the barrier broke, and he was kicked in the stomach and collapsed to the ground, leaving William wide open with no chance to dodge.
I was desperate, so I shouted with all my might.
"Stooop!"
At first, nothing happened, but a few seconds later, the punch going to William stopped mid-air and then blasted the enemy's arm along with the body back.
"William, are you alright?"
"I guess, but what the hell have you just done?"
"I don't know, I shouted."
"That's some explosive shouting there, my friend."
INSTRUCTOR GEORGE
This match is more intense than I thought, it seems like we have some pretty good kids this year. Team A's tactic looked better at first glance, but Lucas from Team B showed extraordinary abilities. It seemed like he used the wind element when he fought his first opponent, and he used it along with his ability, meaning he knew how to combine his ability with an element to a degree, but in the second fight, when he went to help his team, that shouting attack looked like sound magic, but he didn't seem to realise it yet. And also, he showed leadership skills beyond his age, that look in his eyes, he looks like he has gone through countless battles and fought death head-on many times, but he is a kid after all, that's not possible.
This kid might be a prodigy, but who knows?
LUCAS ZACHARY
This battle is starting to get fun, but they attacked on the other flank, so this is the work of the observer.
"Helen, any news on the observer?"
"Nothing yet,but I keep looking."
So she didn't find the observer yet, leading us to the second problem: who attacked me? The observer is hidden, so that's out of the question, The leader and the riot were here, so that leaves us with the tank and the spellcaster.
My line of thought was interrupted by William:
"Lucas, we have a problem."
"Not now, I'm thinking."
"Riley is not here."
"Tell Riley to bring him back. Wait... what, what do you mean he's not here?"
"He is not here, what do you want."
"Where has that guy gone?"
"That prick, he was supposed to play defence with me, and he left. What is this shit." said Max, boiling with anger.
"Calm down,we'll find him. Helen, can you look for Riley? He's not here."
"What, ok, just a sec."
Now that this is in the process of being solved, I instructed Max and William to come with me for the counterattack.
With a calm look on my face, I started running to find the enemies, or Riley. As I started running, I felt a vague sensation of someone looking at me. When I looked in the direction of it, I saw a big building.
The narrative has been taken without permission. Report any sightings.
I see, so that's the place where you were hiding.
"Max, give me a push in the air. I need to check something real quick."
"Huh, but you might be spotted."
Oh my god, can you please do something without asking questions. Think, man, think, that's why you have your brain, for god's sake. But I had to regain my composure, and with a smile on my face, I told him:
"You can't win if you don't take risks."
He listened to me, and he threw me up and propelled myself using my wind magic.
"Helen, can you use your ability to launch me to that building in front of me?"
"Sure, no problem. Here we go, ability golden whip."
Her ability is to create a whip that can attack or be used to latch on to things and move.
"Operation Cannonball is in process."
After she tossed me high in the air, I conjured wind on my right leg, and began the descent. My plan was to destroy the pillar alongside the observer with my leg. When I was sure I'd hit my target, something blocked my leg in mid-air.
"You are smart, but not as smart as me."
It was the leader of team B, Ryan. He was a noble from a respected family in his area.
"We'll see about that."
We clashed there me holding his right fist and him holding my left. We tried to push one another down, but we were evenly matched. In that moment, the obelisk I tried to bring down was completely fine because I was stopped from my attempt, and then he was 'sniped'. All I saw was a dark trail that entered from the left and got out on the right, piercing through the walls like a bullet.
"Wha‐"
When he looked back,I flipped in the air and slammed him to the ground with my leg.
I signalled for William and Max to come with me to see what happened.
As we ran, we asked each other countless questions about what on earth that was, but we all knew that there was only one way to discover the truth.
We found Riley holding the observer from the obelisk, with dark energy, forming a rope that held him like a constrictor snake.
That dark trail and power were probably Riley's abilitiy, but the only time he talked, he said that his ability was some binding ability, something like Helen, not that night bullet or whatever.
When we asked him what happened and if he was okay, he just gave us a thumbs up and nothing more. Honestly, this guy is way too introverted, not even I was like that.
In that moment from behind, we heard footsteps and saw an incoming blast attack.
"Wow, you managed to dodge that, I'm impressed, but now it's time for business."
He made a gesture with his hand, and one of his teammates brought Helen, who was tied up with some sort of rope made from electricity.
"I see you have our observer, and we have yours, I propose we make an exchange, and then we fight it out."
"Why would you throw away your advantage like that?"
"A four on four or a five on five, it's the same thing. And we will fight fair and square; every position will fight with its counterpart from the other team."
"This is good, but you only make it because you think you are better than our leader, is that right?"
"It's not that I think I'm better than him, I am better than him!!! But don't think you can fool me, I want to fight the real leader, meaning you."
"You think highly of me, but I'm just a simple riot."
"You can't trick me, there is no way a riot will give so many instructions and hold his team together if it's not the riot himself who devised the tactic."
"You are smarter than you look. Ok, I will indulge you with a fight, consider it an honour, peasant." I said it in a defiant tone.
We let the captured enemies go, but it seemed like I hit a nerve.
"How dare you, you insignificant pest, how dare you make me a peasant. I'll make you wish you never said those words, bastard. Ability... atomic gloves."
When he activated his ability, an ominous aura enveloped his fists. Then he lunged at me, and I did the same. While I was fighting, I didn't see what happened with my teammates, but I heard them fighting. Me and Ryan threw attack after attack, but we dodged them, some hit us, some grazed us. It was an extreme battle, some adults didn't fight like that, but we did it at five years old.
After a few hits, I undid the pattern of his attacks, and with my ability stretched to the max, I moved between his attacks and punched him to the ground. The recoil of my attack raised him in the air, so I punched him again and again. After four hits, when I was about to slam him to the ground again, he spinned past my fist and kicked me into the building.
Then, all my anger surged up, I charged at him, and punched him in the face. Because of the adrenaline, he didn't feel a thing, grabbed my face, and slammed me to the ground. If that wasn't enough, he propelled me forward with his legs, drove my head to the ground, and pushed forward. He used my head as a bulldozer to destroy the whole street. Miraculously, I got up and threw myself at him, but the instructor intervened between us and stopped the fight. He said the winner was decided.
