It is another sunny day at the school. Two years have passed, a lot of things have happened, but my life is the same. I am 7 years old now, and I am in group A, along with my friends, obviously. Today was the day I have waited from the moment I took my first step in this school. It was also a sad day because we all know that only 1 will be promoted, and this time there will be no twists. We were told that only one student will be promoted.
What happened in these two years, you might ask? And I can say with certainty that a lot happened.
First of all, it took us 1 month to be promoted to group B, only to be demoted 1 week later. I was so angry at the time that I broke the door in my room. So we trained; every night we went to the training ground and trained. Our teamwork, ability, magic, everything. Next week we won every battle, individual battle or team battle, so we were promoted.
After that, it took us a whole damn year to get to Group A. In that time, I trained my ability to the point that I could use it only on parts of my body to not exhaust myself. As for magic, now I can freely use wind, sound, flame, lightning, and water in this order. I can't use earth magic yet, but I'm making progress. From the elements I can use, in my case, water is the worst; I just can't keep that flow running. I can make a water wall, which is a simple spell.
For some reason, wind and sound are the most easy to use, but I knew that for some time now. I also tried to learn dark arts, but I can't understand the process. I only learned a bit of shadow magic, more exactly how to move myself from one shadow to the other. Alpin taught me that as a defensive measure. He told me not to use shadow magic in public because I would attract unwanted attention. So, in other words, I will learn dark arts as I grow.
William started to learn flame and wind magic, which I think is a good pair of elements, but he should have learned some defensive magic to make up for his offensive ability. Helen learned sound magic, which is surprising. Well, every time someone is able to use dark arts, it is a big thing. Max tried to learn earth magic, but at this moment he can only do some simple spells, but at least he's an elemental. And Riley has that monstrous ability, so he doesn't need an element, but I can't know what he thinks. He sure has something up his sleeve, but I will leave it at that.
In B group, we learned non-ability combat, elemental combat, and ability-only combat. We split the three types of combat to not depend on something. Learning how to fight effectively without ability or magic can give you the edge in battles, or at least that was what the instructor said.
So that year, we did that every day. We lost, we won, sometimes praised, sometimes scolded, but every time we had a smile on our faces.
Then, after all those battles, we finally made it to Group A, where we are now, and I can say that this is true hell. Once you make it to group A, for half a week we only have fighting classes. Fighting is a light word. A more appropriate word is body-destroying. We even had mental training, metitation in short. We build our bodies and minds to be able to resist any type of pressure and to 'bond with our soul' as the intructor said.
Because group A was before the elite group, we only had individual fights. Apart from mental training, we had weapon fighting. In other words, we had a lot of different types of fights.
And as in group B, we were stuck here for 1 year. Others would probably say that it is good to be in group A, but we knew we could do better than this, so here we are, back in the present day, waiting for the big announcement.
Me and William left the dorm early, mostly because of how restless I was. We met on our way to the training grounds with the others, and we began talking about who was going to be chosen. Everyone wanted him to be the one chosen, obviously, but let's be honest, from our group at this moment, only me and Riley had a chance, but we had other classmates as well, so they had a chance too.
We made a promise that we were all going to make it into the elite group, no matter what.
We arrived at the training grounds 20 minutes early, and it seemed that we were the first ones to get here. Our instructor, Joshephine, a B-class hunter with long blue hair, was here as well, and she was talking with Henry Blazering.
William went straight to his father, and the instructor nodded, telling us to wait until the announcement started.
William talked with his father, Helen and Max played with their abilities, and Riley was leaning against a tree. So what incredible idea did I come up with? I made myself a floating chair using wind magic. To be more precise, a flying chair. I started flying around the training grounds, doing backflips.
Helen saw me and wanted to do that as well, so I made another chair for her. She was really enjoying herself. I made platforms mid air and me, Helen, Max, and Riley began battling with one another.
While jumping around, I thought that Mr. Blazering would probably choose himself who will be promoted to his group. It was understandable given the fact that the ones in the elite group are the top 10 in the whole academy, so it is a big achievement that everyone wanted to obtain.
When everyone arrived, we started with the announcement.
"Now that everyone is here, I will begin with what everyone is waiting for: who will get promoted to the elite group. As you may see, Mr. Blazering is here with us because he will choose the one to be promoted."

In that moment, everyone started talking between themselves, and some of them were staring at William while talking. Everyone would think that the father would choose his son, but after so much time I spent with William, I can say for sure that he will be chosen only on merit.
"Please lower your voices so I can make the announcement. So, as you may know, our humble school helps young, talented individuals like you get proper training to be able to get into the Hunters Academy. Yes, it sounds crazy that 5-year-old kids are going to school, but you saw over the years how effective that was. One good example is Class A rank 10 hunter 'Powerhouse' who came from our school almost 20 years ago. There are other good examples, but I will not do that now. So our school provides you with the best teachers and facilities that are here, and yet the younger ones outperform the seniors once again. So I will name the three that catch my interest this week, and then I will choose the one who will be promoted."
We all looked at each other; technically, we are the youngest in our group; there are a few the same age as us, but we were here for a whole year while those guys were here for two weeks.
"So first up, we have Claire, who has been here for a long time, and she is the only one from the older ones."
Claire is one of the strongest in our whole group; she is two years older than us, and nobody knows why she wasn't chosen by the elite group yet. Probably now is the time.
"Next up, we have Riley, who demonstrated his incredible control over his ability, while his magic use can still find improvement, but overall he is a very interesting fellow."
So Riley was chosen; it makes sense since his ability is a walking disaster; that ultra-speed black ray or whatever can't be even dodged unless you can use some high-speed vanishing technique.
"And the last one is none other than Lucas, who can control a frighnening amount of elements, while his ability is still a mystery to me. These three fellows caught my interest the most this past week."
Oh my god, I've been chosen. I waited for this moment for a year. Man, the last time I was so happy was when I graduated first from the Army of Swords in my old life and was chosen as a member of the 7 Swords one month after that. Now, before getting too excited, I need to see if I will really be the one chosen to be promoted.
"The three I just named, please take a step forward. As you know, being in the elite group means that you are one of the 10 strongest in our school, and you need to rise up to those expectations. So each of you excels in his own domain: Claire excels in sword fighting, Riley excels in ability control, and Lucas excels in magic use, but all of you are good in all domains."
I can confirm that Claire is a monster in sword fights; she would've been an excelent swordsman in my old world, but it's too early to tell what rank she would achieve, probably at her age and skill at this moment, probably a general swordsman who is still very good. I became general at 15 years old, and I was the youngest ever general, and she is 9.
"I will cut to the chase; the one I think is the most suited and deserves the chance to be in the elite class is... Lucas Zachary."
In that moment, I didn't know what to say. Riley came to congratulate me while Claire fell to the ground and began screaming. Probably I made another enemy, that's what I thought.
"So, Lucas, how do you feel about this? I can say you are pretty stunned at the moment."
"I'm still trying to process all of this, but I finally made it, and I truly thank you for this chance."
"You don't have to thank me; you should thank yourself. You fought this hard to make it here; I just simply chose the best among you three."
"Can I go talk to my teammates?"
"Of course, after all, the classes in the elite group are entirely different from what you've seen up until now. After you talk, go to sleep. Tomorrow at 7 a.m., meet me here. We will go to meet one of my friends as a part of your training."
After that, Henry left, and I went to talk to my friends.
"So how do you feel, champion? How does it feel to be an elite?" Helen said, holding an imaginary microphone in my face.
I played the part, so I said, "It feels amazing to be here; I got an incredible chance, and I will show all of you that it will not go to waste," with the most serious face I could make.
"Stop joking around, we were prepared for all this. Now, as we promised, we will come to the elite class. Don't you think you got away from us you may be ahead but it's only temporary," said Max with his usual attitude.
"I knew you could do it, after all, you are my roommate," said William with a smug look on his face.
"You think this is because of you? Come here, you sneaky bastard," I said while jumping to kick William.
We joked around until we got to our dorm. I got straight to sleep thinking about where I will go tomorrow with Henry; he said he was his friend and it is part of my training. Who knows, I guess its something good, I thought as I began to fall asleep.
